Ahead of International Women’s Day (March 8th), we speak to a couple of outspoken voices on social media, Monica Verma (Researcher, Political Economy) and Pratyasha Rath (Researcher, Behavioural Science) about the challenges that women face and potential social and political solutions to alleviate their experience. Monica and Pratyasha begin by discussing women’s participation in politics, why there is a lack of adequate representation, what can be done to increase the same, and also how women’s votes can impact can cause a significant impact.

We then move on to discussing the various women-centric welfare programs launched by the government in recent times such as the Swachch Bharat Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, Saubhagya, PM Awas Yojana, Kudumbashree, and others.
