1001 had the rare opportunity to speak face to face (on Skype) with physicist, lecturer, and professional UFOlogist Stanton Terry Friedman last year and at that time he shared his knowledge of UFO's as well as his ties to the story known as The Braxton County Monster. This episode is offered here in his honor, as we lost him this pat May 13th. He will be sorely missed in the UFO believers community. He was the first civilian to investigate the Roswell incident and he worked a number of top secret projects for the US government concerning nuclear (and other) types of propulsion. The quality of this Skype call to his home in Maine isn't that good but his conversation more than makes up for it in my opinion.

In 1909 the Phoenix Gazette published an incredible story about an archeological find, sponsored by the Smithsonian, of a cave within the Grand Canyon which supposed held a large store of artifacts thought to belong to an ancient civilization. The story quickly faded from sight, but was revived in the 70;s by certain authors seeking attention for exposing what they felt was a massive cover up being perpetrated by the Grand Canyon National Park and the Smithsonian. .In this story we discuss the original article describing the find, three audacious hoaxes pulled off in those times (over 100 years ago), and the truth regarding the origin of the Kincaid's Cave story.

In a new suburban development outside of Fairfax, VA, in 1970, a young military man and his bride to be were stopping to visit a family member who had recently purchased a new home across from a vacant lot. Suddenly a man in a bunny suit approached their car, slinging an axe, and shouting at them to leave. He then broke their car window, splattering the young lady with glass, and, before they were able to pull away, threw the axe into the car as he screamed "You people are destroying the land...all of you have to leave". He was then seen either skipping or running away, according to the story they gave to police. The young lady was unharmed but thoroughly shaken. Since that day the story has morphed, pulling elements from unproven sources...elements regarding escaped mental asylum patients, dead rabbits, murdered children, and placing it all near the old Colchester Bridge in Clifton, VA. In this story we investigate to see if there is even a grain of truth to the story which has grown aroundnot one but two Bunnyman appearances in 1970.

On 21 January 1968, the PAVN surrounded and besieged the key US Marine base near the border of Laos. In the ensuing five months, KSCB and the hilltop outposts around it were subjected to daily North Vietnamese artillery, mortar, and rocket attacks, and several infantry assaults. More than 274 U.S. troops were killed and more than 2,500 wounded. This is their story.

All of us have experienced grief at the loss of a loved one. Many of us seek answers to questions such as "where do we go after this life?" and "is there a heaven?." In this episode we offer some answers to those questions, including the story of a mom in Georgia who receives a warning on her cell phone via her home security camera that someone has entered her house- only to find the image of her deceased son present on the video in the kitchen.; a portion of an account from Arthur Conan Doyle regarding his experiences talking to, touching, and seeing his deceased relatives while in the presence of a medium; portions of an interview with Dr. Eben Alexander, author of 'Proof of Life", his story of his journey to heaven while legally brain dead and in a coma; and an interview with author Jane Moe (Visions of Heaven) courtesy of PrioritizeYourLife.com website. The stories are heart warming and compelling.

The Battle of Rorke's Drift, also known as the Defence of Rorke's Drift, was an engagement in the Anglo-Zulu War. The successful British defence of the mission station of Rorke's Drift, under the command of Lieutenants John Chard of the Royal Engineers and Gonville Bromhead of the 24th Regiment of Foot, began once a large contingent of Zulu warriors broke off from the main force during the final hour of the British defeat at the day-long Battle of Isandlwana on 22 January 1879. They travelled ten kilometres (six miles) to attack Rorke's Drift later that day and continuing into the following day.

Just over 150 British and colonial troops defended the station against attacks by 3,000 to 4,000 Zulu warriors. The massive but piecemeal attacks by the Zulu on Rorke's Drift came very close to overwhelming the much smaller garrison, but were consistently repelled. Eleven Victoria Crosses were awarded to individual defenders, along with a number of other decorations and honors.

In 1764 in a small province in south central France,a wolf-like beast began to prey on the people of that community. For three years it continued killing, savagely, terrorizing the region, while eluding all efforts to kill it. Many thought it was unstoppable-that it was the beast from hell. In this story we cover all the theories as to what this beast was and what happened to it in the end.
