Today, I'm joined by Neka Pasquale, an acupuncturist, herbalist, author, and the founder of Urban Remedy, an 8-figure certified organic food and beverage company that Neka grew from her kitchen.
Neka first started Urban Remedy as a side project. After deciding to take a break from her acupuncture practice, Neka directed more focus toward Urban Remedy, and quickly realized its growth potential. Soon, she was offered her first $1 million in funding, and Urban Remedy took off, growing by 100% every year for the first 5 years.
Today, Urban Remedy is available in more than 300 Whole Foods locations, and is on pace to do $60 million in revenue in 2024.
In this episode, you'll hear about Neka's experience as a first-time founder — including what she would've done differently when raising money. You'll also hear about the challenges of being a female founder, what to look for in investors and C-suite hires, and Neka's guiding belief — that food is healing.
