In this episode of The Real Build, I sat down with Robert Penney, the national director of continuous improvement at Skanska. Skanska is one of the world's largest development and construction companies, with 2020 revenue totaling SEK 159 billion.
Roberts's responsibility, first and foremost, is to encourage and enable a culture of continuous improvement within Skanska. Robert supports his construction project teams through:
-The facilitation of process improvement workshops.
-The communication of best practices.
-Building strong skill sets around Lean construction practices.
Roberts's goal is to allow people to love their work again. Robert and I discussed topics like creating high-performing teams, knowledge sharing within a construction business, and the importance of process while acknowledging flexibility.
