The term "galactic federation" exists in the realm of science fiction and speculation, not within the scientific community. There is no scientific evidence to support the existence of an organized group of intelligent beings from various planets or star systems forming a federation that governs the galaxy. However, the concept of a galactic federation is a popular trope in science fiction, often depicting a group of advanced civilizations working together to maintain peace, explore the universe, or face common threats. Some famous examples include:

Star Trek: The United Federation of Planets represents a diverse group of species working together to promote exploration, diplomacy, and scientific advancement.

Star Wars: The Galactic Republic, later replaced by the Galactic Empire, is portrayed as a central governing body spanning the galaxy.

Mass Effect: The series explores the concept of the Citadel Council, a governing body representing various alien races in the Milky Way galaxy.
