Matauranga Māori | Wisdom & Māori Knowledge Today’s episode is epic, iconic if you will. The essence of Āio’s values and purpose shines so brightly in this episode. I am deeply honored and humbled to bring it to you.
I am talking to Eve Ahearn, she is of Tainui descent with whakapapa to Ngati Te Ata and Ngati Apakura, she comes from a long line of strong wāhine and matriarchal leadership. As a kaimirimiri and kaiwhitiwhitikoorero her work supports her people to forge better relationships with themselves and others. Eve weaves together her expertise in Brain Based Coaching and Rongoā Māori so that the trauma of the mind and of the trauma of the body are explored and healed in tandem to create long term transformation for the people she works with. She is a mama of two, a partner, a daughter, a sister, a friend and, like many of our magical indigenous waahine, has taken on the role of healing the intergenerational trauma in her whānau. We chat about some of my favorite topics, from understanding the masculine & feminine in all of us, exploring the dynamic relationship between physical pain and emotional pain and that powerful notion that you are your own healer.
What we cover: What is Mirimiri? The haerenga (journey) to be coming a kai mirimiri (mirimiri practitioner) Being challenged by the pakeha system in Rongoa Maori The Tohunga Suppression Act & its effect on Maori medicine & healing. Mareikura explained; Nga rei - The feminine aspect in us all The masculine & feminine energies of Aotearoa mirrored in our bodies. Body parts and their tohu (signals) The 3 hearts Whakapapa mamae - generational trauma The soft side of the term ‘mana wahine’ Emotional pain presenting in the body You are the source of your healing A transmission for the female collective
