A legal background can be an unexpected advantage in real estate investing, and it can help you quickly differentiate a good deal from a bad one.
On this episode of Zen and the Art of Real Estate Investing, Jonathan interviews Bishoy Habib, managing partner of Levacy Legal. Bishoy is also a co-founder and partner of CapStar Investment, a real estate investment company focused on off-market opportunities with an emphasis on sourcing land for builders and developers. Bishoy is also the co-founder and broker of CapStar Real Estate, an entrepreneurial real estate brokerage in Tampa Bay, Florida.
Jonathan and Bishoy start their conversation by exploring the advantages of having a legal background in real estate. You’ll hear how Bishoy was introduced to real estate as a kid through his dad’s properties, what led him to get a law degree, and the cultural pressure Bishoy experienced as the child of Egyptian immigrants. You’ll hear the questions you need to ask when considering a deal with someone, Bishoy’s tips for identifying deals to avoid, and the importance of keeping ego and emotion out of your real estate deals. Finally, he shares how to create win-win deals and why he loves finding creative solutions to problems.
No one needs a law degree to become a great real estate investor, but Bishoy Habib’s degree gives him unique insights into real estate investing that he’s eager to share with others.
