Adventure races are not for the faint of heart. They are grueling, timed expeditions that involve a multitude of skills and activities from navigating, rowing, hiking, and climbing. And all without the help of technology. In order to compete, each team must have an array of skills. This week, Taylor and Mattie sit down with Nathan Fa'avae, 6x world adventure race champion and winner of the World's Toughest Race TV competition. Mr. Fa'avae explains the history of adventure racing, the skills it takes to compete in this rough sport, and his time on the Amazon Prime show, The World's Toughest Race, which his team, Team New Zealand, won. The captain of this hard-core team hands out many tips some of which include how to develop mental toughness and qualities of successful teams. Whether one is on an adventure race or he is just on the expedition of life, he's got to "trust the journey," because one never knows where it will take him.
