Welcome back to the daily gratitude minute. This is Scott Colby from say with gratitude today. I want you to send out birthday cards to every team members and customers on their birthday.

If you're connected to your customers on Facebook, the platform lets you know, when it's their birthday. Now it's somewhat a post happy birthday on their timeline. That's, you know, no arguing that, but hundreds of other people are doing the same thing. If you do this, your message. Won't stand out.

Recently I read about a CEO named Sheldon Yellen, who handwrites 8,000 birthday cards a year for all of his employees with personalized comments, relevant to each person. In addition, when he hears about random acts of kindness in the workplace. He sends a thank you note to the individual, letting them know their efforts. Didn't go unnoticed.

These gestures help Sheldon growing billion dollar disaster relief and property restoration company. In order to get so many cards written Yellen, keeps a stack with him as he travels. He'll knock out a few here and there and it's free time or during a long flight. Yellen reports that the gesture has had an influence on the atmosphere of the company over time.

Because people feel appreciated. They're bringing more compassion into the workplace. As simple card can make a big impression. So this week coming in to find somebody on your team, a client, or even a friend, and forget about that Facebook happy birthday. That'll get lost in the sea of other happy birthdays and send them a happy birthday card in the mail instead.
