We do not want to burden the people we love. We often discount the value of asking for help and support. Ask yourself, would you want your friends to ask you for help? Many times, the answer is yes.
The people who love us should want to help us when we are in need! We are built for relationships and dependence on others. Safety in numbers, safety in tribe, safety in community. Not leaning on others is literally ignoring science.
Loneliness is proven to affect the systems of the body! Your immune system, your cardiovascular system, your digestive system are negatively affected by loneliness.
We can be surrounded by people that love us but still feel alone. Vulnerability is a key component of connection. We have to shed the facade of fakeness, in order to feel connected. We ask with open hearts, we ask for help with complete transparency, we ask for their minds to be open. If we don’t know what to ask, then we ask to just have a dialog with the understanding that we are skiing for their support as a friend.
Be kind to yourself by counting on your friends!
