Think of physical strength as training to be the best athlete you can be for your own life. This doesn’t mean you are going to have bulging muscles, nor do you need them. Today we focus on strength as functional strength.
Functional strength is strength that helps you perform day to day tasks without injury or pain. With functional strength, you will find that tasks are more enjoyable, easier and without the risk of injury. Functional Strength will also help you lead a healthier life.
The seven basic functioning movement patterns are: Push, Pull, Squat, Hinge, Lunge, Rotation, and Gait or Locomotion. Working on all of this will improve your Functional Strength. Remember it may be difficult at first, but it will get easier.
I leave you with this quote to help and motivate you to gain your Strength.
“When we long for life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure.” Peter Marshal
