In this episode of The Up-Beet Dietitians podcast, Emily and Hannah are joined by Amanda Frothingham, a non-diet dietitian. In the episode, the girls discuss if weight loss is a good indicator of health and what the risks of focusing solely on weight to “get healthy.” They also discuss if it’s possible to be “overweight” and healthy. Lastly, Amanda elaborates on if weight is the problem or is our hyper-fixation on weight more a problem. She then shares some other health indicators to focus on besides the number on the scale. Amanda is a former Professional Dancer turned Registered Dietitian and Private Practice owner who specializes in helping people rediscover a healthy relationship with food. After surviving her own battle with an eating disorder, she knew knew her calling was to help others the way her dietitian helped her. She received her undergrad from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs) and then moved to the big city to complete her dietetic internship.
