Redefining Midlife with Jo Clark

48. Strength in Community with Jo Harvey

Listen Later

What happens when two women called Jo meet and chat for the Redefining Midlife Podcast? A wonderful and full of life conversation centred around the community! Jo Harvey brings a vibrancy and energy to this conversation which cannot help but ooze and overflow into a smile on your face. She is candid and refreshingly honest and generously shares her own ups and downs throughout her life. After working in publishing for most of her working life, Jo established 50sowhat, a community for like-minded and the young-at-heart where you can celebrate being as relevant, hip, and cool as the first time you slipped on a pair of skinny jeans. When she’s not road-testing the latest cosmetics, or investigating the hottest lifestyle, travel, fashion, and beauty trends for over 45’s, Jo is often back home catching up with family and friends. Listen in as I chat with Jo and talk about:

  • The misrepresentation of midlifers in media and how this prompted Jo to create a community of like minded women who can laugh, share, talk, cry, and be there for each other.

  • Growing up with a free childhood in New Zealand and how that has fueled fun and satisfaction in her midlife years.

  • Her journey in media, including career at New Idea and falling in love with marketing and sales.

  • Inspiration from her mum and sister, including seeing shifts and incredible journeys in midlife.

  • Health hurdles for her husband, with an increased outcome of putting yourself first and not letting life get you down.

  • Social media as a platform for the midlife community to connect, have incredible conversations, and open-up to possibilities.

  • The privilege and excitement of getting older and how we evolve together.

  • It’s clear that Jo is passionate about everyone being able to live their best midlife. I encourage you to follow her at her website https://50sowhat.com.au/ and Instagram https://www.instagram.com/50sowhatofficial/ to find out more.
