Daniel H. Pink’s book The Power of Regret: How Looking Backward Moves Us Forward is the catalyst for the episodes for the rest of the week. After looking into social science for fifty years exploring regret. He found that regrets can be placed into four categories.The third category of regret we will discuss is, Moral Regret. Sometimes our decisions can have adverse consequences for ourselves and others. Moral Regret is doing something that goes against your moral principles.
Learning from regret, moral regret is necessary. It can be seen in the negative impact our actions and decisions caused in self and others. Striving to stay within our identity or values and morals should be the guide we live by.
