The societal norm of understanding PTSD has changed greatly over the last thirty years. It is no longer understood to only be an issue that soldiers suffer from.
PTSD can be for a person that was bullied as a child, a severe car crash or even an abusive relationship. PTSD is also another type of anxiety that is trying to keep us safe. Understanding the behaviors of others and ourselves can be beneficial. Learning the chemical process of the Fight or flight response our bodies go through.
Learning where these feelings are rooted can be the first step to healing. Having a relationship with the present moment and not a victim of our subconscious reactions.
As always, a professional therapist should be explored.
