In this episode, we talk about resiliency and how it is never a fun lesson to learn in the moment.
“Resilience is the process and outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and adjustment to external and internal demands.” In this episode, we discuss:
1) Resiliency is never fun in the moment and you don’t realize what you are building until later, until you come across another situation, maybe a similar one and you recognize that you are acting or responding differently, and you see that you are building your resiliency muscle. It is a muscle and much like a muscle in the gym, it requires you to break it down, for it to rebuild during rest. You don’t see your work in the time you did your workout or when you go to the gym, you see it later when your numbers go up or your strength increases. 2) Can you build resiliency without building a hardened heart? I believe it is entirely possible and it starts with the practice of self-compassion and honouring how far you have come.
