Danny, Proto, and Slim chat about Beetlejuice (1988).
Beetlejuice, Betelgeuse, Battlegoose!
HAUNTVEMBER Ends and what a way to go out? Michael Keaton making one last ditch effort to impress Proto and get out of the cinematic doghouse. Will he do it? It's not for me to say. Cabinet of Curiosities pops up as well as M*A*S*H, Barbarian, and finally our theme for next month with Danny's pick. Join us.
Danny, Proto, and Slim chat about Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982).
THE NIGHT NO POD CAME HOME.
Believe it or not, after Halloween II the decision was made to leave Michael Meyers in the past and start up an anthology of horror movies totally unrelated to the previous storyline. This one is about world domination by way of Halloween masks! One host's opinion will leave you shook. Have a great Halloween and we hope you dig this special bonus episode. xoxo
Danny, Proto, and Slim chat about Halloween Ends (2022).
From the Master of Horror, David Gordon Green.
Halloween Ends is our latest stop during HAUNTVEMBER and I'm not sure you can predict where our opinions land. But don't worry, we have his Exorcist Trilogy coming next to settle this once and for all. We talk about Danny's trip to California and the old Universal backlots, another messy Hellraiser viewing, and Proto passing 1K followers on Letterboxd. Well earned, imo.
Danny, Proto, and Slim chat about Hellraiser (1987).
Pain, pleasure, podcast..indivisible.
Hellraiser is Proto's pick and let me tell you things got a bit nutty talking as we talked about the gore and the sex and the chains and the white dress shirts. We also talk about The Summer of Proto with all these insane movies he's been watching and you better believe we asked him about his 5-star Videodrome review. Danny watched Marcel the Shell with Shoes on and let's just say there is hope for this world yet. Also slim is doing some James Gray interview prep or something.
Danny, Proto, and Slim chat about His House (2020).
HAUNTVEMBER showing no signs of slowing down.
His House is slim's pick so buckle up your joggers and fire up that Netflix jawn. It's a haunted house story...or is it? Proto also grills slim about this Criterion visit before he takes us on a vampiric journey that might change everything. Danny then talks about wanting to podcast from a lighthouse like in The Fog and honestly it sounds like a good idea to me. Our next Pilot Season episode is decided and much more in this audio file.
Danny, Proto, and Slim chat about Poltergeist (1982).
Craig T. and JoBeth living their best life on that uncomfortable looking bed.
Poltergeist is kicking off HAUNTVEMBER with a bang due to being Danny's pick. What's not to love about an all-ages horror movie from the 1980s? We also talk about our vacation, future plans for a 70mm summit, vampire movies like Addiction and Dracula, The Munsters, The VVitch, Bad Taste, Danny DNFs, slim's pick later in the show, and more.
Danny, Proto, and Slim chat about True Lies (1994).
The holy trinity of movie-making.
Jamie, Arnold, and Jim got together and somehow make 3 separate movies in one singular action comedy adventure. Are you paying attention now, Dwayne? As this went out to supporters last week we were up in the mountains doing who knows what. As it goes wide today we're just coming back from the mountains after doing who knows what. We also talk about House of Gucci, Barbarian, our Hauntvember plans, and more.
Danny, Proto, and Slim chat about THX 1138 (1971).
George, pls.
We're wrapping up low fi sci fi month with George Lucas' very first movie...a world where love and sex are banned by the cops and a robot Jesus(!). Mainly it forces us to wonder what the heck else George could have made if he wasn't saddled with Star Wars for decades... Also we talk about allegations regarding slim's letterboxd rating habits, taking a vacation, pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween cartoons, Proto's Blue Velvet + Saloum thoughts, changing posters on Letterboxd, and more.
Danny, Proto, and Slim chat about After Yang (2021).
Is 70mm ever gonna dance again?
We're continuing low fi sci fi month with Kogonada's introspective journey through technology, family, and our own memory. Colin's drip alone is worth some introspection. Also we talk about our Rings of Power episode, Licorice Pizza, Jaws in IMAX, Top Gun 2 for the millionth time, kid gore sry I wish I didn't watch the movie either, and more.
Danny, Proto, and Slim chat about The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022).
Amazon made their own Lord of the Rings TV show. Is it any good? This is a special preview of Pilot Season which are episodes just for our supporters focused on pilot episodes of TV shows. It's Labor Day so hopefully you have the day off but if not we thought it might be fun to spend some time chatting about this gigantic event that nerds have been dreading for years. In previous Pilot Season episodes we've talked about LOST and X-Files and we're hard at work on our next episode, too. This special preview is all about the first two episodes of The Rings of Power.
