Leigh, a de-transitioned woman and gender non-conforming lesbian, shares what it took for her to realize she couldn’t become a man, her experience in the trans community, and how childhood sexual trauma and homophobic in-laws contributed to her decision to identify as a trans man. Leigh and I discuss the role of homophobia in female erasure, societal structures incentivizing transitions, the barbaric nature of phalloplasty and mastectomy, and why gender - not sex - is the problem.
