The following is a conversation with Sean Kelly, the author of The Game, A Portrait Of Scott Morrison. 

Scott Morrison is the recently defeated, 30th Prime Minister of Australia. He was described in Sean’s book as someone with a core ideology of deep confusion. All Australians have their own idea about who Scott Morrison is, but for those of you reading who are not Australian, I will just say Morrison was someone known as the spin doctor. He was the leader of the liberal party which is the centre-right party in Australia and his reputation was one largely of inauthenticity in desperation to be seen as just a normal, regular Australian. 

Sean’s book was really fascinating for more than just the portrait of Morrison that it paints, but also for reflections on various modern parts of Australia’s culture. It is bloody interesting. Sean Kelly is an Australian journalist and a regular contributor to The Monthly. He was also a political adviser to Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard.
