The Cover-3 defense use to be what the Seahawks and Coach Carroll were known for running nearly all the time. For years, they would lean into that simple coverage and dominate with it. In recent years the Cover-3 has been exposed and the Hawks needed to evolve with it. Last year they did, expanding to a new scheme that solves some of the issues of the Cover-3 defense, while also looking to take advantage of the unique skillsets of guys like Tariq Woolen, Quandre Diggs, Jamal Adams and Bobby Wagner.
