This is a little extra for you today.....sometimes I go down rabbit holes and sometimes they turn into episodes for you.
A plan, a train ride, and an unexplained death.
In September of 2016, 28-year-old Marina Placensia, her boyfriend, Angelo Mantych and their children were moving from Racine, Wisconsin.
The family of six boarded a train in Wisconsin and just before they arrived in Denver, Marina was found deceased in her seat.
Her death was originally ruled undetermined. It took seven long years for investigators to discover what really happened to Marina.

Originally released for exclusive subscribers only. This is one of my "favorite" true crime stories as to me it is the most fascinating. Bart and Krista Halderson were good parents, maybe a bit helicopter-y but good and decent well liked parents that loved their kids and were looking forward to being empty nesters when the unthinkable happened.....and literally its unthinkable.
As I continue to get ready for Season 5 - I have a treat for you from Alexa at Stranger in the House, one of my new favorite podcasts. When a horrible murder is committed by a 13-year-old boy, his family decides to hide his dark secret from the world. But when he is linked to another murder 30 years later, police begin to suspect that they are dealing with a terrifying serial killer who flew under their radar for decades.

I'm on a break between seasons, but never fear Melissa and Christie from Buried Motives are here to give us our true crime fix for the week. Thomas Montgomery was bored with his life at the age of 45. A loving wife, two children, and a steady job wasn't enough for him. One day Thomas decided to reinvent his younger self and became an 18-year-old marine sniper online. It didn't take long for 'Tommy' to meet a teen-aged tall hot blonde who was interested in his online persona. One thing led to another, and before long, this 'catfishing' expedition ended with deadly consequences.

Two young lives collide in the most horrific of ways, leaving one dead, and the other on a path to either destruction or redemption.

A double episode for my final installment of intimate partner homicides in Canada in 2018.

On a bitter cold January night in a remote Saskatchewan village in 1969, a family was slaughtered in their sleep. The tragedy of that night has largely been forgotten in Canadian history.

In 1975 - 16 year old Sharron went out to meet friends for pizza just blocks from her house. She didn't arrive for pizza or home again. Police suspected she ran away until her body was found. Sharron's case was cold for 40 years.
One of Canada's most horrifying and terrifying murders of three generations of one family in a campground that should have been an oasis.

When my niece was murdered in 2018, my interest in true crime turned to an obsession. I respect the victims and their families because I’ve been there. Every victims story deserves to be told. No…
My personal story can be found in Season 1, episodes 17&18.
