Juan “Leon” Laureles was a kind, sweet and quiet 30 year old living in central Texas when on or around May 10, 1996, he was murdered - his car set on fire - all believed to be a hate crime. In the days prior to his murder, Leon confided in coworkers that he was being harassed and stalked. Arlene Harbison, his surviving niece, has been very vocal in trying to get his story told and to get justice and closure in the case of his murder. Was it perpetrated by those who hated him because he was different? Were the police aware and involved? Why can’t Arlene be shown an official autopsy report and where is all the media coverage on Leon? We attempt to figure out the answers and more.

For today's episode, we will wrap up this multiparter, where we await what will happen with Stephen Clare, the monster who murdered his 11 month old daughter, Willow. We will hear more from her mother, Mariah, and we ask you all to please remember Willow - the bright, beautiful, and innocent baby who’s life was stolen way too soon. Admittedly, this has been a very tough case to talk about (and hear about), but important. Mariah needs to be heard, as she is not only speaking for herself, and for her living children, but she is giving a voice back to her daughter Willow, who will forever be unable to speak for herself. Mariah, as well as her three children who survived, are true heroes in todays case. Mariah, Braylon, Copeland, Rosalie, and Willow. They all are bees.

We are angry. We demand justice. Say his name - ALEX VANDALSEN.

Alex VanDalsen, a transgendered man, was murdered, but his case was conveniently labeled a suicide. His mother, Jennifer VanDalsen, has spent nearly three years fighting for answers and justice. Due to recent events where Jennifer was once again tossed away and considered disposable by local authorities, we gathered together to have a round table discussion and refresh on his case, as well as a firm request of everyone listening to not only say his name, but bring awareness to his case. We want everyone in the true crime arena to please cover his case, we want authorities to dig deeper into their investigations, we want senators and government officials highlighting this case and we want Jennifer to finally have answers because ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Mariah Lee Gardner escaped, barely clinging to life, from a brutal attack on her and her children at the hands of her ex-husband, Stephen Clare. Today, Mariah will continue to recall the events that led to the tragedy that occurred April 10, 2023. We dive in a little more on the links to Narcissistic Personality Disorder and domestic violence, and pose the question of whether or not you always listen to your gut. As for Stephen Clare - the crimes he committed are all pieces of a pure living nightmare, one that had all the signs, albeit difficult to see. Narcissists are very thorough with carrying through their plan if it is something that will make them look good. We urge you all to recognize the signs of Narcissistic Abuse from family members and even friends, whether you have fallen victim to it or not. You never know who's life you may save, and as always... see something, say something.

For today’s bonus episode, Courtney and Haley (who was interviewed in S2E12 Minding the Beehive, part 5) have an open and honest yet casual conversation - as somewhat of an afterthought and recap of the entire Still Minding the Beehive series. Everything talked about will be from the perspective of sexual assault victims. We talk about what we are into right now, and then dive a little bit into consent (wondering why there is more education and training on things like hair, but not enough when it comes to things like what consent is, advocacy and reporting), the nuances of the law, the victim blaming and shaming that unfortunately, most victims face, why people are afraid to report, senators and investigators that make (and then break) promises, advocacy, and the importance of applying pressure. We also talk smack about perpetrators because why wouldn't we? These victims and survivors have had to endure enough, so give them grace and let them lash out.
