When I stood in Mother Teresa’s room at her mission in Kolkata, I saw very few things.
I believe this is because she did not define her self-worth by her net worth.
Nor her value to the world by the value of her goods.
She cared not for adornments. She cared profoundly about service. To the sick. To the poor. To anyone in need.
She understood—as have all of the great spiritual masters—that our lives are ultimately short, trivial and meaningless journeys in the overall scheme of a well-intentioned universe.
As you rise in human maturity, you’ll be less interested in trivial pursuits. As you discover a mission that is larger than your own life, a bravery and nobility beyond intellectual understanding will begin to emerge.
The more you connect with a cause that is of helpfulness to other humans, the chains of your previously perceived reality fall away. And you will ascend toward a happiness that knows few bounds. And a peace that requires no luxuries.
If you’d like to learn the tools, habits and daily routines of warriors, billionaires, sages and superstars then read (or listen to) The Everyday Hero Manifesto today. It’s a life-changing book. Get it here.
