Coogs' House... it wasn't ALL BAD. The Houston Cougar defense played well despite the loss to the UNLV Rebels in Willie Fritz's home opener. The Cougars held UNLV's high-powered offense to 20 points, with two touchdowns coming from trick plays and a broken play. The secondary played well, limiting star wide receiver Ricky White and forcing a potential interception. The defensive line and linebackers also performed well, holding UNLV to under 4 yards per carry excluding a single big run. The upcoming game against Oklahoma is a tougher challenge, but the performance against UNLV provides some optimism for the secondary. The defensive line will face a tougher test, but overall, there were positive takeaways from the week one performance.
