  • Benchmarks for Reviewing Practice
As the end of the winter retreat approaches, Ajahn Karunadhammo discusses the importance of evaluating practice to see what worked and what are the results of our effort. He suggests certain benchmarks which are useful, including the eight qualities of a great being. Also one can assess, did my effort lead to wholesome or unwholesome activity? Am I content with the requisites? Am I treading lightly in the world? Is freedom of the mind a result of what I have been doing? This talk was offered on March 20, 2019 at Abhayagiri Buddhist Monastery.

  • Craving, Clinging, Becoming
Our drive for security and stability leads us to familiar pleasures and bases of supposed security. But Ajahn Karunadhammo explains that these are often unsatisfying and still involve craving, clinging and becoming. We can substitute unskillful holding with skillful holding of experience by applying right mindfulness to form, feeling, mind and mind objects. We start by mindfulness grounded in the body which provides stability and refuge rooted in discernment. This talk was offered on February 2, 2019 at Abhayagiri Buddhist Monastery.
