Abraham's Wallet

Steven Manuel gets out the slide projector and shows us what he and his wife did for a recent anniversary and answer the age old question, “What does it really cost for an in-town anniversary night getaway?” He kept the receipts! He shares actual prices! And you won’t believe the total cost! (Okay, maybe you will.)

Steven Manuel joins old pal Shane Miller in this episode about what one man did to combat decades of obesity, and why this is different than any fad diet he's ever tried. He doesn't track calories, and uses the money he saves on food to buy his new wardrobe! Hear how he doesn't cut out all sodas, carbs, and desserts... and still averages 2lbs lost per week. What's the magical difference? (HINT: it's discipleship, and walking through your life with God!)

Steven Manuel and Mark Parrett discuss a long-standing social problem. With the latest Bud Light/Dylan Mulvaney kerfuffle, and with Target (and other retailers) rolling out the rainbows this summer… what is the Christian playbook on protesting and boycotting products and brands that violate our conscience? Is there any recourse to just complaining or demanding these companies change their policies or messaging? It’s a hot topic… and it ain’t going away. If you’re going to lead your family, you should have an answer to this question. AND… you should have a plan for how to build something stronger than the current cultural sentiment. Join us as we discuss Chic-Fil-A, BP, and Goya Beans.

Steven Manuel shares a method for dedicating property (think: homes and businesses) to God... and cleaning out whatever might have been there before. If expanding the Kingdom is part of our mandate, then this is a super helpful skill for all would-be Abrahams! Watch as Ross Dykstra dedicates a new business property and see how "anointing" is practically done. (Wait... do we believe this stuff is actually real???)

Mark and Amelia Parrett sit down for a frank discussion about how to talk to children about sex. Starting with the very earliest years, describing their bodies to them (and telling them what they’re for!) sets children up to eventually become family leaders in their own rite. Amelia’s experience as a lecturer to school and church groups about “Maturation” makes her a great resource for practical help for a contentious subject.

Mark Parrett and Steven Manuel describe one of the most important skills anybody can master when it comes to financial acumen: the ability to deal with debt. First of all, what does the Bible say? Is it legal for Bible people to borrow (or lend) with interest? Then: is getting out of all debt ASAP always the best policy? Might there be GOOD debt as well as BAD debt? And what does LEVERAGE really mean? Also: what about that time the fellas went out to Las Vegas to watch some hoops?
