In this week's Shift the Field TV podcast episode, I share how I learned to honor my soft skills for business success and how you can do the same.

Growing up, I was told by my math teacher, "If you can, become an engineer and make a lot of money." I knew I wanted to make money, so that's what I did, and I became an engineer at Proctor and Gamble.

Everything was going great until, during a review (a positive one, I will add), my supervisor said, "Your soft skills are great, Darla, but they will only get you so far here." That stayed with me.

Part of me thought bullsh*#, while the other part of me believed him. Find out how my own transformation helped me trust my inner knowing, intuition, and soft skills as a viable and valuable path forward.

Growing up, I used my magic and could see, feel, and know that people around me were saying one thing and doing another. They weren’t aligned and didn’t feel good, so I shut my magic down for a long time. I used food to cover my feelings, avoided using my magic, and instead turned to logic.

Becoming a chemical engineer was a good fit for what I was conditioned to become. But I shut down a huge part of me! The part that could see, feel, and know beyond logic - my magic!

Sometimes you just gotta move because you won’t learn anything standing still. This was one of my early teachings as a transformational coach and the topic of this week’s Shift the Field TV Podcast episode!

When I began teaching early in my coaching career, I would guide clients through a visualization that they were standing at the edge of a park with a fountain at the center of it. That fountain represented that person’s soul purpose. While they could not physically see the fountain because of the trees, the paths, and the people, they could hear it. 

The lesson - you have to move in one direction or another to see if you can get a better view. You just gotta move! 

I go on in this podcast to discuss some reflections me and my lead coach, Ashlie Woods, had in recent weeks. She woke up one morning, knowing that it was time to move. For me, my air conditioner broke, which could be a coincidence or a sign that it was time for me to move. So together, we honored the time we both had in our sacred spaces, knowing that it is time to move - even if the move is wrong. We just gotta move!

In this episode of Shift the Field TV podcast, I tell you about a time I made my presentation more important than my presence during Transformational Storytime. 

When I started my coaching business, I had a motto for myself. "Who you are BEING is more important than what you are DOING." I knew and believed it, so imagine my surprise when I signed up for a speaker training and found my beingness completely conflicting with my doingness.

In this Shift the Field TV episode, I discuss where we are headed - with the universe being our life coach. As you know, I believe in coaches and always have one. They remind people of their truth when we forget - which we do.  

I was talking with my coach about a recent encounter with a very triggering person, and they reminded me that these situations are often transformation opportunities revealing themselves. They pointed out that life becomes our life coach when we know how energy works. 

Then, I discuss Lee Harris’s new book, Conversations with Z’s—specifically his take on how to use social media as a life coach. If we believe that life will show us what needs to be transformed, then when we can use social media as a tool to reveal what energy is available for transformation. 

For instance, we often see people’s highlight reels on social media and find ourselves stuck in comparison. When you understand transformation, you know the person posting those reels also has comparison issues in their energy field, can recognize that, and know that energy is available to transform (comparison, jealousy, judgment, etc.)

In this week's YouTube video and Transformational Storytime, I take you back to when I transformed the way I relate to food. It happened in an instant, and it happened on retreat.

The journey to loving my body has been long, with many twists and turns. I have grown to trust the wisdom of my body and use it as a healing tool when I work with clients through my Sensation Magic. But it wasn't always like this. I used to hate my body.

For as long as I can remember, food was the first thing I thought of in the morning and the last thing I thought about at night. Would it be a "good" or "bad" day food-wise? The size of my stomach determined if I were a "good " girl or a "bad" girl. So what changed all that?

It happened in an instant, and it happened on retreat. In this retreat, I decided to tackle my relationship with food. Through our work in the container, I could pinpoint the incident in my childhood, which solidified incorrect beliefs I would hold for years.
