Longtime sports columnist, commentator and well known New Yorker Mike Lupica joins the podcast to talk all things Cincinnati/US Open tennis. Mike has covered the sport and been friends with Jimmy since the early 70's. He has written for newspapers, magazines, authored biographies of professional athletes, and has spent years as on air talent for ESPN. With both tours descending on New York City for the next month, and all the unknowns caused my Covid-19, the guys ask some of the tough questions going into the events. Does having 6 of the top 10 on the ladies side missing from the event make for an asterisk situation for the US Open? How about on the mens side as well, no Nadal, Federer, Monfils, or Wawrinka. Does this hurt the credibility of the winner whoever it is? And more important, do the powers that be even care so long as they make their $$? Will the once in a lifetime circumstances surrounding the US Open allow gamblers to find flaws in the system somehow, and win some cash? Plus we do some reminiscing about the good old days, when the US Open moved from Forrest Hills, to Flushing Meadows. All that and much more on the happenings under the "bubble" in New York with special guest Mike Lupica on show #18 of Advantage Connors.
