I dare you to find another podcast with this range.

  • Episode 86 - Elon Musk Vs. The World

Jen and Noam return to discuss perennial Main Character Elon Musk’s bad week, from his threat to sue the ADL over advertisers leaving TwitX to the revelation from his upcoming biography that he might have directly intervened in the Ukranian war via Starlink access.

  • Episode 85 - Role Playing Gaymes

Noam and Jen (mostly) take a break from politics to discuss pronoun choices in Starfield, genitalia choices in Baldur’s Gate 3, Barbie and Mario being the big hits of this year’s movie season, entering the Golden Age of Geriatric Millenial Retail Entertainment, anime we’re watching and have watched, and other random stuff.

  • Episode 83 - Debate And Switch

Noam and Jen do a regular full-length episode talking about Trump’s many indictments and the various reactions to them, the canceled press conference, his Constitutional fitness for office, DeSantis finally turning on Trump supporters, his debate to-do list, and how Trump doesn’t have to show up to debates now cuz reasons.

We will make more content this week. Really. Just don’t ask us when that will be exactly - we will try to stream the debate, but we’re not sure of the logistics (and legality) of that just yet.

  • Episode 82 - Georgia On His Mind

Jen and Noam talk how Trump is going to be charged with doing a RICO in Georgia, how he just can’t stop posting (Truthing?), Sam Bankman-Fried being placed in pre-trial detention for witness tampering, the Maui fire, and a bunch of other random stuff.

Shorter episode today because August is a bad, boring month.

  • Episode 81 - Trump's Quote And Rocks Float

Noam and Jen talk over the newest Trump indictment related to his big plan to fix the 2020 election, the fact that neither he nor anyone in his circle can stop talking, Richard Hanania’s “race realist” past coming back to haunt him, the root problem of the modern conservative movement, and how everyone is cooking up floaty rocks and what it means for the future.

    Show notes:

Hanania’s past as Ricahrd Hoste, exposed (truth be told it’s been known for some time now)

Nate Silver’s piece on p-hacking and how it’s used to skew scientific study results

    https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/science-isnt-broken/#part1

Editor’s note from Jen - if you’re interested in the topic of p-hacking and the replication crisis, Jesse Singal’s book The Quick Fix looks at these phenomena in the social sciences and how bad / unreplicable studies become the basis for conventional wisdom and policy decisions

  • Episode 80 - Failsons Of Anarchy

Jen and Noam discuss failsons who have made the headlines this week - Hunter Biden, Donald Trump, and Nate Hochman.

Hunter is in an on again off again relationship with his plea deal, Trump once again conscripted the most ill-equipped person to help him in the cover-up of his Mar-a-Lago boxes fiasco, and Hochman torpedoed a prominent position as a speechwriter for DeSantis by creating and seeding a pro-DeSantis video featuring some gnarly Nazi iconography.

    Show notes:

Yes, the Hochman video is every bit as bad as Jen says, including the Nazi iconography at the end
