Irishman Abroad’s US correspondent Marion McKeone returns to breakdown a week of hope, loss and distraction tactics in America. Following the funeral of American civil rights activist John Lewis Marion explains his influence on American life and the stark contrast he represents Jarlath asks about another one Donald Trump’s 'distraction' tweets and Marion explains what truth he wants us to avoid.
In light of the forthcoming predicted economic chaos, Marion outlines how the people of America seem uninformed on the plans of their President.
From the insane waiting time for COVID-19 test results to what Joe Biden could do to beat Trump in the election, America's financial gamble around a coronavirus vaccine and more, this is yet another fascinating update on American politics from the best in the business, Marion McKeone.

Marion McKeone takes us inside the sordid world of Jeffrey Epstein and asks the question, “what do we know for sure about Donald Trump's history and relationship with Ghislaine Maxwell”. How much does she know? How much did the President know about the sex trafficking ring she presided over.
In the mailbag section, Jarlath asks Marion to break down in simple terms the electoral college system, the importance of the swing states and the likelihood of Michelle Obama throwing her hat into the ring. And finally her sobering thoughts on Kanye's rally - this is an update from America that you simply don't want to miss.

Irishman Abroad’s US Correspondent Marion McKeone checks in with Jarlath after a week of hacking and spiralling pandemic numbers. Could we reach a tipping point?
Marion details the terrifying realities of the accounts of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Kanye West and Elon Musk being hacked. Marion also discusses the "belligerent swagger" that is evident in the southern states regarding the wearing of face masks and how Trump's lack of empathy with struggle is seriously affecting the American economy during the pandemic.
Jarlath quizzes Marion on why she sees a brutal dog fight of an election ahead, the growing danger that any election result will be contested, the fallout of the release of Mary Trump's book and the possibility of the beloved Doctor Fauci being fired.

In this third instalment of our new An Irishman In America series Marion McKeone returns to talk about the latest developments in the US.
This week, Marion and Jarlath speak about Trump's mammoth Supreme Court Rulings, what he may be trying to keep from the public in his fight against Mary Trump's book and what Biden has to do to win the election.
Marion also gives her thoughts on Kanye West throwing his hat into the ring and whether the claims that he is trying to take the 'black vote' away from Biden are true. Finally, Marion explains why she feels there is change coming in relation to the handling of the police force across the United States while no real attention has been given to the humanitarian crisis that is seen at its borders.

In this second instalment of our new An Irishman In America series Marion McKeone returns to talk about the latest developments in the US.
This week we saw Donald Trump declare that Black Lives Matter is a symbol of hate and consistently refuse to wear a mask. Further questions of voter suppression were also raised and saw Joe Biden streak ahead in the polls. There was even a suggestion that he may drop out of the race on this basis.

Colm Meaney is a national treasure. This week Jarlath sits down with him for a one of a kind conversation about his early life, work and struggles. For the first time, we hear his experience of being Irish in the UK during the Troubles (31:00), getting his big break in the 1980s in America (38:00) and why juggling Star Trek with features such as The Van, The Snapper and The Commitments worked for him (51:00).
From joining Sinn Féin as an 'anti-establishment' 13 year old (12:00), to and how Margaret Thatcher once 'fucked the whole thing up' with regards to funding and the arts (30:00), the Hollywood culture of telling people what they want to hear (50:00), the series of incredibly unfortunate events that killed the prospects of one of his proudest acting projects (56:00) and much more, this is a fascinating and rare conversation with a true Irish acting legend.
To hear about the chaotic nature of filming Alpha Papa alongside Steve Coogan, Colm's thoughts on how the film/TV industry is changing, the art of finding the essence of a character, Con Air and more become a patron of An Irishman Abroad for just the price of a pint on www.patreon.com/irishmanabroad.

Barry Keoghan returns to the podcast to discuss a movie he made in Ireland that never got its full theatrical release. Calm With Horse is a beautiful piece of story telling from first-time director Nick Rowland that transports us to a west of Ireland town run by a family known as the Divers. Barry’s character, Dympna, controls Arm a former boxer roped in to enforcing the dominance of the gang in the local area. A crisis of conscience and his young son force him into a situation from which there appears to be no escape. Jarlath and Barry dig into what makes a low budget classic like this so special and why now, more than ever, the film needs the support of viewers in lockdown when it releases on demand on April 27th.
There’s a lot to cover as Barry opens up about the non-disclosure agreement he signed to play one of the lead characters in Marvel’s next big franchise The Eternals. We hear about the fasting Barry forced himself to do in order to be in shape for the role within three weeks of being cast, his tactics for coping with lockdown, his plans to direct, the project he has been building around the story of Billy The Kid and more. There’s also news on an up-coming episode of Coronapod and Jarlath’s own weird experience when he applied the law of attraction to driving around Ireland last August.
