Episode 213-winky face emoji
213 episodes. A bunch of videos. Kale. Feelings. Aftershows. Remember those? Book club? Bwahahahaha! We tried. Well, one of us did. We've had a million laughs over the last 4 years and made some great memories. That said, we're compelled to align things abit, and that means moving to a new name for the show.
That's right, we're launching the Apex Adjacent Podcast on October 17th. Stay subscribed to this feed and all of our medias social, they'll all stay in place and update with the new name. Thanks for rolling with us as we go through this very laborious process, we absolutely look forward to seeing you on the other side! We love you.
Episode 212
In this episode, Ian once again beams in to the blanket fort for our usual discussion. This time we're treated to envisioning Ian as the prophet that he is, traveling the land and preaching the good word of burnouts to the masses. It's difficult work, but someone has to do it.
Lastly, we end the episode on a somber note as we discuss another loss that we've had in the automotive community, our friend Tanner Bell. We met Tanner at a SCCA track night at High Plains Raceway and he was always had a great big smile every time we interacted with him after that. We're really thankful to have shared some time and witnessed your happiness, and we're honored to have met your wife Natalie and your son Jenson. If anyone reading this is able to help, please head over to Natalie and Jenson's GoFundMe page here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/rally-for-natalie-amp-jenson-bell .
RIP Tanner, even though we very briefly knew you, your positive spirit left an impact on us.
Episode 211
We put a lot on our cars, sometimes even more than we put in them. In this case, we talk about Dave's attachment and empathy for the plucky little Fiat 500X in ways that are all too familiar.
We also talk about car news! I know, right? Ian brings the new Porsche Taycan and its badge-centric scandal. So weird. So German. Like I said, so weird.
Also in this episode, we continue our coverage of our time at RMDE 2019 and talk about how much we enjoyed the 2020 Kia Telluride. Those turn signal cameras, BRILLIANT! We love you.
Episode 210- Hashtag RMDE2019
Despite Dave's best efforts, Ian managed to secure a hotel room for this year's Rocky Mountain Driving Experience with two separate beds, thereby preventing most of the spooning from happening.
That doesn't mean we aren't going to have any fun though, so while we're out at RMDE2019 we have a brief episode for you. Talk of Land Rovers ablaze, overshoe-ed cars, and drool-worthy Volvos are the theme here; what's not to love about that?
Lastly, Ian and Dave discuss some upcoming changes in our not-often-reoccuring segment, Podcasting About Podcasting. We're going to be changing the name of the podcast soon, and many things still need to be worked out, but we're not going anywhere just yet. We'll keep everyone up to date in subsequent episodes for sure. We love you!
Episode 209-Powah Wagons
This week Ian and Dave fawn over the latest Audi offering and in a shocking surprise to EVERYONE, Audi is bringing the new RS6 to the US!
As much as we're looking forward to being the 8th owners of a very used Audi wagon, we're also very excited to validate Ian's sanity when it comes to Volvo exhausts.
Enthusiasm and mental validation, why else would you come to this show anyway?
Episode 208-It's getting hot in here.
In these turbulent times, it's good to know that there are a few things you can always count on. Thing the first, our intrepid road warrior, Ian, will find your city's smoked meats. Thing the second, the very same Ian mentioned before, well he's gonna find a karting track too. Thing the third, that floppy-haired goofball is gonna set a crazy good time and gain respect from the locals. These are just the facts folks.
While Ian was abroad in the Louis of Saints, Dave was back at home breaking, repairing, replacing, and breaking a lot of things in his orbit. It turns out grieving takes many shapes and forms, as does our therapy for said grief. Thankfully a lot of the repairs end up in a good place, except for the old man sedan. We're still not sure how that one is going to turn out. Hmmmmm.
We love you.
Episode 207-Pedals are the place where feet go. Rear-view mirrors? Not so much.
Vanity plates. Appropriately named, poorly executed, and hot content generators for our little show here. In this wee's episode we cover lots of potentially vain ways that car owners express themselves. Some seem more safe than others, but all of them are hard passes on our side.
Speaking of safety, you know what you shouldn't do? You should NOT hang your gross foot out of the driver's side window of the CAR YOU ARE DRIVING.
Sir, this is a Wendy's. Sigh........
Episode 206
Even a broken clock is right twice a day; that's the old saying, right? Well, in this week's show our Fantasy Effington One Token Broken Clock (ahem, Dave) gets to gloat about his super safe play that got him the win in pretend F1 racing.
In addition to the fake racing, our intrepid hosts did some real racing of the karting variety as well, and what do we have here...another couple of victories for Dave? Is something wrong? Something's wrong.
I'm sure we'll leave the upside down pretty soon here and things will get back to normal, so don't worry about it. It's fine. It's fine. We love you.
Episode 205-WTFTRD-Part Deux
In this week's show we get to the bottom of things! And No! That's not a reference to food poisoning or our hind parts or feces, or any of the other usual conditions that often plague this show. For real! For really real!
We're not going to spoil it in this description, but seriously, Ian Beautiful-Minded this whole TRD stickers on some idiot's door handles thing. Even as I type it, I can't believe it, but we really do think we figured this Carstanza-adjacent situation all out.
Besides being like the best detectives EVAR, we introduce a new segment in this week's show: Newly Wed To A Car, and this first subject is the brand new Chevrolet Corvette C8. Oh yeah!
