Episode 204
First off, let's start this episode's description with an apology. We should probably start every episode off that way, but it's really more implied at this point. Dave had a crazy work schedule and actually fell asleep before remembering to post it. Ooooof.
Okay, what's going on here? The tables are turned this week, and due to Dave messing up his schedule he had to hand they keys to the ship over to Ian. We're sure he'll use his newfound power of podcast engineering with great respect and responsibility. What's that you say? He blasted a rap air horn for 60 minutes straight? Oh boy.
You know, this week we learned some lessons. Dave did at least, in what it's like to give up control, what Ian does when he's given free reign, and to keep better track of his freaking schedule, that's for sure. We love you.
Episode 203 and DAE
Once again we've managed to get another guest to wander into the blanket fort, this time it's Nick Lyle, co-founder of the Denver Auto Enthusiasts Facebook (and ugh, Reddit) group. We had a fantastic time talking to him about his BONKERS turbocharged Miata and what it's like to run a group of auto enthusiasts on the internet.
Check out DAE on the internets (https://www.facebook.com/groups/denverautoenthusiasts/) and if you happen to be in the area, come out to one of their weekly drives!
We initially met Nick by way of karting (dear lord he's fast), and it just furthers our hypothesis that when nice, reasonable automotive enthusiasts get together, guess what...they get along! Nick, you're welcome back in the blanket fort any time!
Episode 202-Gross
Ah, children. Their sweet innocent perspectives allow us some moments of levity, mainly because we're way too familiar with the crushing heft of reality kicking us in our downparts on a daily basis. When your kid tells you what it's like to experience a soggy bottom, aka swass, for the first time, you get transported for a moment to their world, a world that doesn't contain all of the BS we deal with on a daily basis, and a much-needed giggle is the result.
In the juice shorts-resulting FMKCars, Ian schools Dave on some Saab knowledge and our adoration for Saab grows once again. It's more of a disease at this point, less of a problem. WE CAN'T QUIT YOU SAAB.
Come for the shorts juice, stay for Dave and Peedah's karting experience, some talk of car paint, and more. We love you!
Episode 201
If there's one thing that unites us all, it's our gastrointestinal system. Sheesh. This is a car show folks, despite our tummy's best attempts at derailing it, and we do manage to focus on cars during this show. Not to spoil anything, but no one gets physically ill on this show, but Dave is certainly dealing with the aftershocks of the Kia Sorento Carstanza that broke his soul.
In order to move the needle towards happier topics, we dig through Ian's camera roll and unearth some true treasures...and one Infiniti-based Carstanza.
Dave's not mad, he's just disappointed. We love you.
Episode 200-IRL
Two hundred episodes. That's a lot of time to spend in a blanket fort, so to celebrate, we actually leave the blankets behind and set up shop at one of our favorite places: Unser Karting!!!
Unser is our go-to place for mental health treatment and we couldn't think of a better place to celebrate not getting kicked off of the internet (yet). Come watch along as we lightly panic in front of real people that can see our real faces and flop sweats. Ooof.
A huge thank you to Hagerty for sponsoring the event, as well as Unser and their staff. Lastly, we thank you, everyone that showed up, everyone that listens, everyone that puts up with our nonsense and supports our show in all of their fantastic ways. Thank you so much everyone, we love you!
Episode 199
Hey! We have another bonus inbetweener episode for all of you goofballs; Ian Skyped his way into the blanket fort for a quick discussion about his rental car, Dave's Bugs Bunny-esqe karting techniques, and not having to go to the bathroom at all during the episode. Really!
Thank you Matt for sending in the FMKCars, we appreciate it! Thanks for watching everyone, we love you!
Episode 198-Worse than Freddy.
Humble listeners, we want to give you a warning. Once you've seen the horrors that Dave presents in this episode, you will never be able to unsee them. They shall haunt your every waking moment, and intrude your dreams, WHICH IS A REAL THING THAT HAPPENED. Yep. Dave saw a carstanza so bad that he actually had a dream about it the following night.
So yeah. A carstanza exists that is so bad that it crossed planes of reality, weaving it's hideous nose into the fiber of multiple dimensions. Yeah. There isn't a whole lot more to say about that other than this is your last warning.
To pull Dave out of his tailspin, Ian regales Dave with the absolute delight that is taking Nico karting for his first time, and the associated trash talk that came with it. There may be some bad fake BMW/Kia noses out there people, but remember that there is some good. Somewhere a 5-year-old wore a helmet bigger than their entire body and ran their first laps on a go kart track. Humanity may almost have a chance.
Episode 197
The Chrysler Pacifica is many things: a minivian, A hybrid vehicle, a nice place to be. More than anything however, it is one specific thing: a belt sander that takes every rough edge that life throws at you and smooths it down to a pleasant, easy-to-handle shape. In this episode we discuss the minivan we love so much and what it's like to handle said shapes after they've been Pacifica-fied.
We really enjoyed our time with this minivan, it inspired some great discussion and perspectives between us for this episode. We also reflected on the times and ways minivans impacted our lives, from family vacations to driving exams to one of us (Ian) getting it stuck in a ditch from drifts gone awry.
Did I really need to mention that was Ian that got a van stuck? No. No I didn't. Big thanks to FCA and Rocky Mountain Redline for issuing the vehicle to us for the week. We hope this episode reflects our adoration of this fantastic and capable vehicle.
Episode 196-It's seafood this time. It was leftover pizza last time.
Much like Ian's over-inflated rental car tires, we pump as much hot air into this episode as we can, but beware, tick tock, Ian's tummy has different ideas of how this evening should proceed. What is it about our show that somehow impacts people's digestive systems? If it was the listener's stomachs, fine, whatever, not our problem. But since something seems to be happening with the hosts…we're gonna keep our eyes on it.
That said, this episode is a bit short due to Ian destroying his hotel bathroom, but you go to battle with the soldiers you have. There is some gold in them here hills however, and I don't know if it was the flop sweat or the nausea, but Ian absolutely loses his mind over a vanity plate that a listener sent us.
Last bit of info for all the folks that travel frequently, maybe you might want to start packing a tire gauge. As always, thanks for listening and apologies for how brief this is. Thank you, sorry!
Episode 195-Thanks Jonny!
This week Ian's returned to Denver and we're finally back in the blanket fort the way good baby Santa Jebus intended.
In his absence, you goofballs sent us tons of great stuff. Sick burns. Cars on fire. Weird vanity plates. A fantastic FMKCars from our buddy Jonny.
Couple that with some garage updates, and you've got your self a stew baby! We love you.
