  • Max Fleischer's Superman - The Mechanical Monsters
    It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...The Krypto-Cast!!

I'm your host, David Snider, and joining me again as we continue our discussion on the Max Fleischer Superman shorts of the early 1940's is Ruler of the Wasteland (and a big fan of all things animated), Immortan Hoof!

Listen as we discuss how cool guns are in this series; we wonder why the villain wears a tuxedo; and finally, we tackle the age old debate of Superman's costume and it's seemingly supernatural properties.

The Apocalypse Video Krypto-Cast will return with: Billion Dollar Limited!

  • The Animatrix
He may keep the store alive with power, and he may have enabled us to make good on our promise to deliver the lost art of cinema back to the wasteland...but truth be told, we're becoming more and more suspicious of Chad's true intentions. Lately, he's been forcing us to take these weird blue pills, claiming that they will calm us down and reduce the anxiety of living in a post apocalypse, but I for one think something more sinister is at play -- something...Matrix-y.

Wait...I think Chad may have hacked this line -- So, anyway, we're talkin' about The Animatrix this week!! Another completely normal episode. Nothing out of the ordinary here!!!

Listen as we discuss the gnarly imagery of "The Second Renaissance"; we debate whether Agents or a particular snobby school teacher are to blame for the death of a student; and finally, a sexy fight scene gives a whole new perspective on the Animatrix's DVD cover art.

Be sure to rate, review, and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts in the Wasteland. You can also Follow us on Twitter and Like Us on Facebook! You might as well...the Matrix has you after all.

We'll be back next week...assuming we can get hold of a Red pill. This is David Snider from Sector 2...signing off.

  • Max Fleischer's Superman - The Mad Scientist
It had to happen sooner or later... After more than a month of broadcasting out into the wasteland, we have finally aroused the attention of Immortan Hoof himself. Thankfully, the ruler of the wasteland has a soft spot for cartoons, and Apocalypse Video's selection of animation is vast.

I'm your host, David Snider, and joining me as we strike up a deal that will hopefully not get worse all the time is the Ruler of the Wasteland; the Ayatollah of Rock n' Rolla; Immortan Hoof!

Listen as we discuss the long reaching impact of the Max Fleischer Superman series on animation; we marvel at Superman's complete disregard for due process; and finally, we wonder if a certain bird will return for vengeance on the Man of Steel later in the series.

As always, please rate, review, and subscribe, whether you're listening in a fallout shelter, deserted ruin, or on the toilet. You can also Follow us on Twitter or Like us on Facebook!

  • Black Narcissus
After last week's catastrophic explosion, the store is in dire straits. While Dave, Ryan, and Mike made it out alive, unfortunately, the store lost it's biggest source of revenue: the adult video section.

Thankfully, new-hire Mike has a solution to help bring back the customers! With the success of the Aliens episode, he thought why not expand on the virtues of the James Cameron classic and bring in the customers with a "bad ass" movie section? And what movie sounds more metal and bad ass than Black Narcissus?!*

Listen as we discuss Ryan's cinematic awakening; we ask "Is it Real or is it Matte?"; and finally, we rate the "Person Falling From a Building or Cliff" scene, aka Chekhov's giant cliff.

  • Aliens
Wonders never cease in the Wasteland...nor do the horrors of that terrible day the Ptera-People attacked...

I'm your host, David Snider, and joining me this week are fellow cinephiles Ryan Caldwell, newly christened co-host Michael Althouse, and special guest, coming to us from her hidden refuge in the store's air vents, Jackie.

That's right; it turns out that Jackie was in the store the day the ptera-people began their onslaught, and unbeknownst to us, she took shelter in the air vents. Unfortunately, she became trapped, and spent a week up there all alone, foraging for food and futilely screaming for help at the oblivious staff below. Of course, we would have helped her sooner, but we couldn't hear her cries for help, as it's store policy to have a movie on at full volume at all times. Sorry about that, Jackie...

Listen as we discuss the long reaching influence of James Cameron's Aliens; Chekhov's Dock Loader; and finally, we pit Ridley Scott and James Cameron against each other as we task Jackie on picking the superior xenomorph flick.

Be sure to rate, review and subscribe; Follow us on Twitter; and Like us on Facebook (we mostly check our Twitter and Facebook feeds at night...mostly).

Until next time...this is David Snider, signing off from Sector 2.

  • Mortal Kombat
We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet, it should be noted, that in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life - the sunrise of a new podcast. A podcast that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one. And we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings.

Of my friend, I can only say this...he is definitely dead. So it's with that in mind that we move on and find his replacement, posthaste!

I'm your host, David Snider, and joining me while Ryan searches the Wasteland for Cody's remains are fellow cinephiles and potential new co-hosts, Michael Althouse and Jonathan Hinckley, with special guest Chad Griner, joining us via holo-form.

Listen as we try to understand the confusing and seemingly arbitrary rules of Mortal Kombat; we learn that Raiden really sucks at his job; and finally, we debate whether Scorpion was evil or if he was really just a big fan of Johnny Cage.

As always, be sure to rate, review and subscribe; Follow us on Twitter; and Like us on Facebook.

We'll return next week with a brand new movie review, and a new co-host, as we soldier on with our mission to bring the lost art of cinema back to the Wasteland. This is David Snider from Sector 2...signing off.

  • We Bought a Zoo
Well, we all knew it was bound to happen sooner or later...the ptera-people have begun their assault on Apocalypse Video! Trapped, and with structural shielding collapsing, it is all up to Cody Eastlick to come up with a movie suggestion to get everyone's mind off of their imminent doom.

Something uplifting and positive - something with Matt Damon, perhaps...

Listen as we breakdown the numerous family-comedy tropes contained in Cameron Crowe's We Bought a Zoo, including excessive happiness and an emo kid; we wonder if this movie would have been better with Fred Savage; and finally, we ask the all important question..."why not"?

In lieu of sending help to save us from this brutal ptera attack, you can subscribe to the show wherever you get your podcasts, Follow us on Twitter, rate us on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, or Like us on Facebook! (Your likes and ratings fuel us with hope that we may actually survive this onslaught.)

We'll be back next week (assuming we're still alive...) with an all new episode. This is David Snider from Sector 2, signing off...

  • The Dark Crystal
When does a project go from "we've got a great story to tell" to "screw it, let's just see if we can make a movie with nothing but puppets!"? We try to answer that question, along with whether or not Jim Henson was really just an egomaniacal maniac as we delve deep into our first puppet feature; The Dark Crystal.

Listen as we discuss whether or not this movie would have been better with or without dialogue; we salute the film's willingness to terrify young children with the Garthims; and finally, we debate if The Dark Crystal was really just an excuse for Jim Henson to show off how big his puppet penis REALLY is.

As always, if you're digging our weekly broadcasts, be sure to Subscribe, Like us on Facebook (...still creeping on you well into the post-apocalypse) and Follow us on Twitter (gotta keep them hash tags alive)!

We'll be back next week with another all new episode. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to stare into this crystal for a bit...

  • Wolfcop
Greetings from Sector 2 of the Wasteland, and welcome back to another episode of Apocalypse Video! I'm your host, David Snider, and I'm happy to say we made it through our first broadcast unscathed...well, almost. It turns out that despite most of the inhabitants of the Wasteland enjoying last week's episode, there were a small number of human/dog hybrids who felt that their demographic wasn't adequately represented by the mostly white and mostly human characters of Logan's Run.

Thankfully, as Apocalypse Video's library of film is vast, we were able to locate just the right movie for our new canine friend; the 2014 Canadian classic, WolfCop!

Listen as we breakdown all the werewolf/cop tropes; Ryan questions if the filmmakers have ever seen a Comedy before; and finally, we lament the missed opportunities for weirdness in the infamous sex scene.

We'll be back next Tuesday with another New Release for all you cinema lovers out there in the Wasteland! This is David Snider from Sector 2...signing off.

  • Logan's Run
Welcome to the inaugural episode of Apocalypse Video! I'm your host, David Snider, and joining me on the first of many adventures as we bring the lost art of cinema back to the Wasteland are fellow cinephiles Cody Eastlick, Ryan Caldwell, and our former human friend (now a living computer) Chad Griner.

For our very first broadcast we present you with none other than "The First Motion Picture of the 23rd Century!": Logan's Run. We figured it best to ease all you wastelanders out there into the magical world of Cinema by selecting a film that would feel familiar to all of you. There's just one catch...it might not be that good.

Listen as we discuss the questionable special effects that caused members of the Academy to resign in protest; the fact that our "young" hero looks old as balls; and finally, we debate whether this whole story was done better in The Island.

Follow us on Twitter @ApocalypseVideo or Like us on Facebook.

We'll be back next week with an all new cinematic adventure! This is David Snider, signing off from Sector 2 of the Wasteland...
