It was no secret that the path to the postseason was always complicated for Arizona State Sun Devils football. When ASU got their seventh win, we began pondering if a run to the Big 12 Conference Championship Game was viable even if it meant many things needing to go their way. Then the Sun Devils got their eighth win over a Big 12 heavyweight in #16 Kansas State. Suddenly, the hopes of pushing for a title appearance became slightly better as they effectively eliminated K-State from contention. And then things became perfect, as #6 BYU was stunned at home by three-win Kansas. The last unbeaten team in the Big 12 Conference was issued their first loss of the year and to a division opponent nonetheless. The 8-2 Arizona State Sun Devils football team also has two conference losses. And of course, BYU visits Tempe on Saturday with the highest stakes either program has faced this year and in quite some time. With everything that happened on Saturday, a slim hope became yours for the taking. Arizona State Sun Devils football controls their destiny for the remainder of the season. A trip to the Big 12 Conference Championship Game likely comes down to this weekend. A win in the title game punches your ticket to the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff.
