  • Coach Pete Carroll's Journey As A USC Trojan And Beyond From Monte Burke
The University of Southern California received thousands of calls, emails and letters in 2001, after hiring former NFL coach, Pete Carroll, to resurrect its moribund program. Carroll was a "failure," a "fraud," and a "flake" according to USC boosters, the fans in Los Angeles and the college football cognoscenti. But by the middle of the decade, he had turned USC into a legendary juggernaut, with multiple Heisman Trophy winners and national championships. In Men of Troy, Monte Burke, provides the definitive account of this singular dynasty, based on original reporting and more than 150 new interviews. Burke illustrates how Carroll and his colorful cast of coaches and players-including cross-eyed quarterback turned national heartthrob, Matt Leinart, and the electric, generational running back, Reggie Bush-not only took over college football, but Los Angeles and the country, as well.Burke not only takes readers through the iconic games of the era, but also behind the scenes-in the locker room, on the recruiting trail and into the LA nightlife scene, where the players enjoyed their celebrity status and, at times, succumbed to illicit temptations. He also puts the dynasty in proper context, tracing the breathtaking rise of the program, the sudden and inglorious fall, and the scandal that left a program in ruins and precipitated the drastic changes that led to the current era of college football.

  • Reimagining Music Set In A Modern Tone One Take From Alex Wise
Guitarist-singer-songwriter Alex Wise is pleased to announce the release of his new solo acoustic album, One Take, a wide-ranging collection of 28 originals and covers. All tracks are accompanied by a live video of each performance. This album is the culmination of two years of live solo performances at San Francisco's Park Chalet, where he has a weekly residency. After honing his solo acoustic sound, Wise found he wanted to replicate the live experience by capturing some of his favorite tunes in uncut video and audio recordings. The material for the album spans a wide array of sounds: from Wise originals like "Split The Sky," to an unplugged version of The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again," to an original take on Irene Cara's 80s pop classic "Fame" -- he makes each of these songs his own with a simple guitar and heartfelt vocals.Accustomed to more elaborate multi-instrument recordings that involve several takes and extensive post-production, Wise found this "one take" solo acoustic format to be refreshingly intimate. The album cover is a custom-designed logo which incorporates images of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge and the New Orleans symbol of a fleur de lys - these two cities (Wise's home and home away from home, respectively) inspire both his musical tastes and his own songwriting.Wise has fronted the bands Fog Swamp and The Shreep and has made numerous TV & radio appearances. He has performed with Joan Baez, Darius Rucker, Brian Stoltz (Dr. John/Bob Dylan/Neville Bros), The Monophonics, members of The Radiators, Sugarland, and others. His music has also been used in feature films and video games. One Take marks his seventh album release.

  • The Daily Mess What Is The Best Workout Plus Slowing Down Time For Good
I’m always asking questions.  The fun begins when you start researching for answers. Such as…   What’s the better health plan?  Daily stretching exercising or pumping up the weights?  Plus…we are guilty of tagging ourselves to certain days of the week and its proving to be a bad decision.    I’m Arroe…  I am a daily writer.  A silent wolf.  I stand on the sidelines and do nothing but watch, listen study then activate.  I call it The Daily Mess.  A chronological walk through an everyday world.  Yes, it’s my morning writing.  As a receiver of thoughts and ideas, we as people tend to throw it to the side and deal with it later.  When a subject arrives, I dig in.  It’s still keeping a journal!  By doing the research the picture becomes clearer.  This is the Daily Mess…

  • Resurrecting Melodies Hooks And Guitar Solos Pete Rizzi From Who On Earth The Band
Somebody needed to pick up the torch for hard rock and heavy metal with real grit and gusto and without a gimmick. Enter Who on Earth. The New Jersey outfit of Coosh [vocals], Pete Rizzi [bass], Johnny James Barone (guitar), Jimmy Kocha (guitar) and Howie Fallon [drums] — deliver a one-two punch of hard-hitting hooks and airtight instrumentation bolted down by pummeling grooves and piercing riffs. It all gestated from a question…“We wanted to fill in the blank of ‘Who On Earth is going to bring back good rock and metal?’,” explains Pete. “We grew up on the new wave of British heavy metal and classic rock. We went through grunge and other great genres of metal. We wanted to resurrect the melodies, hooks, and guitar solos. We returned to our roots yet upgraded everything with modern production.”The group made their bones through countless gigs across the Tristate area in every dive bar and concert hall with a stage. Along the way, Andrew and Pete tore up venues as part of MadHaus, performing marathon covers. During 2021, the longtime friends chose to forego covers, hunker down, and compose an original album.  The composing came easily, and in a short time, the founding fathers had 10 songs ready to go.  To bring the record to life, the band hit the studio with none other than Mike Orlando (Category 7, Adrenaline Mob). Over the next year, the guys endured numerous COVID delays as they recorded with Orlando behind the board as producer, engineer, and “stunt” guitarist. Nodding to everyone from Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica to Rush, Alice In Chains, and Tool, they placed storytelling in the spotlight.
“The New Jersey heavy rockers bring their signature grit and power to the 1979 classic, adding punchy riffs, thunderous drums, and raw energy while honoring the spirit of the original.“
Somebody needed to pick up the torch for hard rock and heavy metal with real grit and gusto without a gimmick. Enter Who On Earth. The New Jersey quintet—Andrew Couche [vocals], Pete Rizzi [bass], Howie Fallon [drums], Johnny James Barone [guitar], and Jimmy Kocha [guitar]—deliver a one-two punch of hard-hitting hooks and airtight instrumentation bolted down by pummeling grooves and piercing riffs. The band continues to pay homage to rock’s past as they usher in its future on their latest EP, Smoke & Mirrors.

  • All I See Is Violence From Author And Historian Angie Elita Newell
An Indigenous woman has penned an award-winning, critically-acclaimed, thought-provoking book, All I See Is Violence (Greenleaf Book Group Press) that has captured the attention of a lot  of people. Several viral posts on Tik Tok about her historical novel have been viewed millions of times and on Instagram, hundreds of thousands. Author Angie Elita Newell has written an intense, poignant, action-packed dramatization of history that leaves readers seeing Indigenous people and history forever differently. The United States government stole the Black Hills from the Sioux, as it stole land from every tribe across North America. Forcibly relocated, American Indians were enslaved under strict land and resource regulations. Newell brings a poignant retelling of the catastrophic, true story of the 1876 Battle of Little Bighorn and the social upheaval that occurred on the Pine Ridge Reservation in 1972 during the height of the American Indian Movement.Cheyenne warrior Little Wolf fights to maintain her people’s land and heritage as General Custer leads a devastating campaign against American Indians, killing anyone who refuses to relocate to the Red Cloud Agency in South Dakota. A century later, on that same reservation, Little Wolf’s relation Nancy Swiftfox raises four boys with the help of her father-in-law, while facing the economic and social ramifications of this violent legacy.
