Arroe Collins: Unplugged & Totally Uncut

Did you know that one of the greatest musical friendships ever existed between soul icons Curtis Mayfield and Jerry Butler? In the 1960s, Jerry was constantly at the top of the charts as a solo artist and so was Curtis with his trio, the Impressions. But, did you know the Impressions started out as a quintet with Jerry as lead singer? Though he was only with them for less than a year, his song “For Your Precious Love” was their first big hit. In his latest article for the Strange Brew, music historian and author Scott G. Shea details their story and tells why Jerry left and how Curtis Mayfield, in turn, helped get his solo career off the ground. It coincides with Beat Goes On Records forthcoming release of a quartet of Jerry Butler late-1960s Mercury LPs.

I’m always asking questions.  The fun begins when you start researching for answers. Such as… Where are people locating their favorite songs today?  Is it still on the radio?  Plus… Is it the end of the world as we know it? I’m Arroe…  I am a daily writer.  A silent wolf.  I stand on the sidelines and do nothing but watch, listen study then activate.  I call it The Daily Mess.  A chronological walk through an everyday world.  Yes, it’s my morning writing.  As a receiver of thoughts and ideas, we as people tend to throw it to the side and deal with it later.  When a subject arrives, I dig in.  It’s still keeping a journal!  By doing the research the picture becomes clearer.  This is the Daily Mess…

-Missed Opportunity- I love sharing conversations.  Hosting requires show prep.  My podcasting platforms feature thousands of guests.  What you don’t have access to are the missed opportunities. The show prep was completed.  The conversation didn’t happen.  I keep all my notes! Paths will cross again.  Let me explain Missed Opportunity.  It’s my questions and statements without their answers.  I leave enough space open at the end of each question hoping they’ll download the talk and insert their answers.Missed Opportunity is a lost piece of history.  Like a message in a bottle tossed out to sea. I hope to locate a destination…This week we’re putting focus on my missed opportunity with Vivek Ramaswamy. The final question for Vivek Ramaswamy…Missed Opportunity.  A lost piece of history.  You know the questions.  Let’s locate the reactions.  The door is always open.  Reach out to me at [email protected] that’s [email protected] Be brilliant!

Gabrielle has been singing since she could talk. Her music career really took off when she turned a day job at a major supermarket chain into a springboard for her dreams. When she was 20, she auditioned for the store's radio station and was cast in their first-ever a cappella group, consisting of 11 talented employees from across the country. This gave Gabrielle the opportunity to work alongside Cupid on "Cupid Shuffle," perform on "Good Morning America" and star in music videos for social media. Even with all of her success, Gabrielle came from humble beginnings. She was raised in a three-bedroom trailer with her mom, four younger sisters, and an honorary auntie" Despite facing times without power or heat and her mother's struggle with mental health, Gabrielle has immense respect for her mom, who raised her family with limited resources. Gabrielle's relationship with her father was distant growing up, but, after he was involved in a severe car accident that left him partially immobile, she rekindled their bond. This tragic event, along with Gabrielle becoming an adult, not only brought them closer than ever before, but also motivated Gabrielle to pursue her musical dreams.
