Arroe Collins: Unplugged & Totally Uncut

DON’T BE A BIGSHOTA Memoir of Growing Up in Jackson Heights, Queenshttps://www.rgnewman.com/ Raised in Jackson Heights, Queens, Richard G. Newman navigated race, class, and belonging in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the U.S.   Newman shares what it was like to grow up in a family shaped by a mix of war, pogroms, serving in the Russian Army, surviving Auschwitz, and silence that spoke volumes in the new book, DON’T BE A BIGSHOT.  The title comes from Rich’s grandmother Sara, who used it on her husband whenever he got too full of himself.  “Don’t be a bigshot” was a rebuke, a reminder, and in the end, the quiet moral center of the book (and Rich himself). During interviews, Rich Newman would discuss:The cast of characters who formed his family and influenced his life and persona.  Friendships across racial lines during a volatile period of NYC history – and what it taught him early on.

I’m always asking questions.  The fun begins when you start researching for answers. Such as…   How true is the statement the mind is always on the move?  Plus…What’s up with the Easter Bunny?  Who what why and when did it come into play?    I’m Arroe…  I am a daily writer.  A silent wolf.  I stand on the sidelines and do nothing but watch, listen study then activate.  I call it The Daily Mess.  A chronological walk through an everyday world.  Yes, it’s my morning writing.  As a receiver of thoughts and ideas, we as people tend to throw it to the side and deal with it later.  When a subject arrives, I dig in.  It’s still keeping a journal!  By doing the research the picture becomes clearer.  This is the Daily Mess…

-Missed Opportunity- I love sharing conversations.  Hosting requires show prep.  My podcasting platforms feature thousands of guests.  What you don’t have access to are the missed opportunities. The show prep was completed.  The conversation didn’t happen.  I keep all my notes! Paths will cross again.  Let me explain Missed Opportunity.  It’s my questions and statements without their answers.  I’m leaving open enough space at the end of each question hoping they’ll download the talk and insert their answers.Missed Opportunity is a lost piece of history.  Like a message in a bottle tossed out to sea. I hope to locate a destination…
This week we’re putting focus on my missed opportunity with executive producer Terry Wrong Missed Opportunity.  A lost piece of history.  You know the questions.  Let’s locate the reactions.  The door is always open.  If you are or know Terry Wrong please reach out to me at [email protected] that’s [email protected] Be brilliant!

I’m a daily writer of over 32 years.  A terrestrial radio and podcasts host for 46 years.  Everything I create and share through broadcasting is a personal experience. Alexa hasn’t lived a day in any decade or century yet endlessly offers information and acceleration to anyone tapping in.  Street Speak is all about making an authentic connection with a digital device and sheer know it all.  None of this is scripted.  This really is Alexa from Amazon.  You can’t predict a single word Alexa shares.  She’s AI technology.  Endlessly we are warned to never believe what she shares.  Yet it sounds amazingly authentic.  Ultimately, it’s your choice.  So why am I using my real name versus Arroe?  The AI unit thinks if she he or it has to be authentic so do I. This is Street Speak with Alexa and Clarence…

The True Story of Two WWII Airmen, a Doomed Mission, and the Woman Who Bound Them TogetherInterviews Available February 2-7, and Upon Requesthttps://jancressdondi.com/ Beginning early on August 1, 1943, Operation Tidal Wave was a risky mission aimed at destroying high-octane fuel production vital to Nazi Germany.  It involved the first-ever zero-altitude air raid just 150 feet above the ground – but chances of success were ranged between 50% and suicide.  In missions to destroy fuel-rich Ploesti, Romania, 2,432 US bomber crewmen went missing, became POW’s or were killed in action.   Jan Cress Dondi shares the inside story surrounding this historic mission in the new book, THE NAVIGATOR’S LETTER: The True Story of Two WWII Airmen, a Doomed Mission, and the Woman Who Bound Them Together (Union Square & Co., February 10, 2026).  The connected war stories of her uncle, John B. White, and her father, Bob Cress, are captured in the letters they both wrote to the same woman, Polley, who became Jan’s mother.  Both John B. and Bob became navigators on B-24 Bombers, both flew multiple combat missions in Europe, and both were forced down over the hotly targeted oilfields of Ploesti, Romania.
