In the early 2000s, Richard Lancelyn Green, an obsessed Arthur Conan Doyle scholar and biographer, began down a path of obsession. He was searching for some lost papers on Conan Doyle that would allow him to write the definitive biography, but they had somehow fallen into the hands of an auction house to be sold to private collectors instead of a museum archive like they should have been. He was devastated. And a few weeks later, he turned up dead in his apartment. Did he commit suicide? Or was he murdered?
