From a child struggling in school, getting hardly any qualifications to company founder and part-time Clinical Director, Helen talks about “Navigating childhood without clear answers or labels.

She brings up a memory which seems like “Swiss Cheese”, Executive function challenges, the difficulty in remembering simple things, leaving visible things open in the home, like an open style cupboard to remind us of important tasks or paperwork, fading ,memories and much, much more.

Today I speak with Business Owner at Spire Autism, Martin Slyngstad.

Martin comes from California USA and is an Autism advocate.

He has spoken in Dubai, emphasising the need for more understanding with Autism, and advocating “When a flower doesn’t bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower”.

Martin brings up:

• Your way of thinking is valid.
• You deserve to be seen and celebrated
• The need for sensory friendly spaces

provides a wonderful poem for us to listen to, and also jaw dropping sentences like these:

“Hope lies in the joy of a shattered moment and the excitement of a new milestone”.

He also wants to remind parents of Autistic children:

“Thank you for believing in your child when the world couldn’t yet see their light”.

Durch gemeinschaftliches Engagement werden wir stärker 💪. Jede:r von uns hält ein anderes Teil des Puzzles 🧩 – und nur zusammen erkennen wir das ganze Bild.

Today I am speaking to Tigger Pritchard from the top of the Alps n Germany.

The reason I got tigger on today is because he was a finalist of the Neurodiversity Award 2024.

He turned 60 in April and misses his hair!

He self identified as Autistic many years ago, he didn’t like football, but preferred GEEK stuff!

When Tigger moved from the Midlands to Cornwall he got a job with individuals who were Autistic in the 70’s and really connected with them.

he went into care, and training until he burnt out on an area, so he went Freelance. He is a Marketon teacher, and was holding “Welcome to Autism,” workshops.

The odd days when he was it a bit tipsy, he said to friend that he thought he was Autistic.

He chaired the “National Autism Society” for a few years.

But he loved spending his days outside with a cup of coffee, in a hut outside with his dog “Mrs Pebbles” and the idea went from his subconscious to conscious about him having Autism.

But so many people  that knew him for decades , who he had worked with or taught said to him “We knew you were Autistic. We thought you just didn’t talk about it”. and I was like “Whooah. Some people knew, like 20 years ago!”

So he came out as an Autism ADHD’er and his career just exploded.
