One night, a wandering sage stopped at the courtyard of a dancer named Kalavati to rest. At dawn, he woke to a commotion—someone had passed away. Kalavati called her six-year-old daughter and asked her to find out whether the deceased had gone to heaven or hell. Curious, the sage asked how such a thing could be known. Kalavati explained, “If people speak well of the deceased, it means they have gone to heaven. If they criticize them with harsh words, it means they have gone to hell”. Hearing this, the sage reflected deeply on her wisdom.

In a kingdom ruled by a just king, all workers diligently carried out their duties. One day, enemies stirred dissatisfaction among them, leading to a protest. The workers complained to the king, saying, “We toil day and night, yet our wages are minimal. Meanwhile, the minister does nothing but receives a high salary”. To address this, the king conducted a test to demonstrate the difference in skill and responsibility between the minister and the workers. Through this, they realized that intelligence also plays a role in determining wages.

This ancient story illustrates how, over time, humans come to realize that the one divine being manifests in various forms. The universe is like the magnificent and infinite plume of the divine peacock. A single pure ray transforms into seven colors, just as one sacred sound unfolds into seven musical notes. The taste of water expresses itself in many flavors, and from the essence of earth arises a variety of fragrances. Thus, the divine is perceived, heard, experienced, and sensed through countless manifestations.

Kamal placed his hand on the man's head, chanted Lord Rama’s name, and asked him to immerse himself in the river. Upon emerging, the man found his leprosy had diminished. Feeling accomplished, Kamal declared his success. Sensing his son's pride, Kabir sought to humble him and sent a letter to Tulsidas. In the city of Visanama, there was a potter. One day, women singing auspicious songs visited his shop and bought a pot for a wedding, paying a small sum. Later, a few people came seeking a pot for a funeral. The potter gave it to them for free. Observing this, a nearby pot remarked that two pots of the same kind had met entirely different fates. Another pot, wise and dutiful, explained that the value of life is determined by its purpose and duties. Hearing this, the questioning pot fell silent in realization.
