This week we wanted to look at how hard running an event like the ILCA 7 Worlds really is for volunteer run yacht clubs, and what the requirements World Sailing have of the clubs to ensure it is a World standard event. We have this conversation all the time with people who have put their hand up to run World Championships. For this Ep. we chatted to Peter Royle, Commodore Adelaide Sailing Club. Pete is a lifetime competitive sailor and he tells us about the work his team put in, what they had to consider and the help ASC received from all the clubs in South Australia. We thought it was an important discussion. Pete is a long-term mate, so it was a fun and open conversation.

This week we talk to Yachting expert Peter McGonagle and Global Adventurers Anita and Knut who have been sailing their Outremer 45 Mais Uma around the World. For years Outremer have offered training to new owners of their boats to equip them with the skills to cruise the globe. The owners of Outremer - Grand Large Yachting have now started to conduct seminars which are open to everyone and the next one is at the Miami International Boat Show February 17. Peter, Anita and Knut will be sharing their knowledge and experience and we thought this discussion would be of interest to many. And well it was a fantastic chat. You will love it.

We have spoken to a Line honours Contender, a TP52 and defending champion, and this week we chose to go to the smallest division and chat to some of the team on an S&S34. Half the team to be exact, navigator and new friend to the show, (who spent half the Ep rocked back in his chair laughing) Sam Duncan - congrats on the engagement mate. Plus we spoke to some old favourites, S&S34 tragic Jessica Watson and the ever busy Xavier Doer.  They are all sailing on Azzuro. This week we have the International Waszp Games being sailed from Sorrento in Victoria in Australia. It's the exact same timing as the Youth Sailing World Championships being held in Brazil. The Waszp Games are bringing a whole different approach to the sport and it is working, so we sat down with Marc Ablett from Waszp to find out exactly what they are doing differently. We have decided to start focussing on some sailing classes and learn more about them. This week we talk to Geoff Carne and Craig Phillips about the International Canoe, the oldest sailing dinghy class in the World. Geoff Carne is the current Australian Champ and Craig has been involved with 8 America’s Cup teams over 27 years. 

The IC is quirky, challenging and fast. Great for tinkerers, it may be the class for you.

With less than a month to go until the start of the Sydney to Hobart, we chat to Sam Haynes, owner TP52 Celestial - winner of the last years race. Sam is the Vice Commodore of the CYCA and campaigns his TP52 and his J70 sailing as often as he can. He also founded the Sydney Animal Hospital and is on the board of the charity Assistance Dogs Australia.
