    Brad Crowell 0:00

    It's Fuck Yeah Friday.

    Brad Crowell 0:01

    Fuck yeah.

    Lesley Logan 0:02

Get ready for some wins. Get ready for some wins. Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started.

    Lesley Logan 0:47

Hello, Be It babe. We're catching you before the holidays, unless you're listening to this later, because you're stocked up and you're binging out. This is a week before, that's like five days before, it's December 20th. And what this is is a it's a Friday, TGIF, Friday, if you're listening in real time, when these things drop, what you're not like, Brad and I like, I know exactly what time my podcast drops.

    Brad Crowell 1:08

    We do.

    Lesley Logan 1:09

I'm like, it's 9:05. There should be something right there.

    Brad Crowell 1:11

    They're late. What is happening?

    Lesley Logan 1:11

    Refresh that app.

    Brad Crowell 1:12

    Come on.

    Lesley Logan 1:15

So, at any rate, we're going to share some of the wins that you've sent us, and then we're going to share one of ours.

    Brad Crowell 1:21

    All great wins.

    Lesley Logan 1:21

So our first win is from Katelyn Elser, she's an agency member. She said my home studio remodel is done and I'm thrilled with the results. I had my first duet intro. I have a call with the local country club today about offering a mat class, and a client who ghosted me on her intro pack over the summer texted me and bought a package. I'm getting more comfortable with not converting every single person who walks in the door. Very great wins.

    Lesley Logan 1:23

I just want to say sometimes people ghost you because it's not a ghost it's like, oh, I'm gonna do it on this date, and we just don't always know when that date is. And so for anyone who's got their own business or you're trying to start a side hustle, you have to understand that we don't always get to decide or know when people are going to make the decision to work with us. They often make the decision, but don't tell us, and so we just have to be consistent enough in our communications and being ourselves and showing up that when they're ready, you pop up in their reminders, and then they continue on. That's how it works. That's literally how all businesses are successful. Like, we were having dinner last night, not last night when you're listening to this, but last night when we recorded this, and we were talking about, like, because someone said, like, what's different? And I think you and I were both like, we're just consistent. We've been so fucking consistent. That is why maybe we're just talking to ourselves.

    Brad Crowell 2:46

    Yeah, maybe it's just us.

    Lesley Logan 2:48

Okay. We're just, we're just (inaudible) together with no one else that we've been so consistent over the years. That is why we get to sit here and have some of these huge wins that you're going to hear.

    Lesley Logan 3:00

So one more win from you. Charlotte Coker, I've been struggling with some health issues for the majority of the year, but I'm ready to refocus for the rest of 2024 and get a solid plan in place for 2025. I have my Q3 coaching call today with Lesley, and really looking forward to getting some help with clarity. I've really nailed down my morning routine to maximize my day, and my husband was traveling for work and made it home safely from Florida before the hurricane hit. Those are.

    Brad Crowell 3:28

    That's important.

    Lesley Logan 3:29

I mean, my, thank God you don't have to travel, the hurricane stuff is, I feel for every person, and I know that we're recording this a couple months after two massive hurricanes hit. Many of our listeners, and many of you who know people.

    Brad Crowell 3:45

    And members.

    Lesley Logan 3:46

Oh, one of our members lost everything. And I just want to say like, you have to celebrate that (inaudible) made it home safely because that, that's a massive win, especially when you're up against something you can't control. I also want to say, like, thank you for sharing that you've nailed your morning routine. Because.

    Brad Crowell 4:02

    That's cool.

    Lesley Logan 4:02

That is, people think, oh, like, the the skincare routine, or the way you get dressed, the way you do your coffee, that has nothing to do with the the wins you're going to have for the rest of your day. But actually it sets you up for the best, most amazing day. So thank you, Charlotte, for sharing this.

    Lesley Logan 4:17

    Okay, a win of ours.

    Brad Crowell 4:20

    A win of ours.

    Lesley Logan 4:22

You could join me with this one. So I was just actually going to say we've had some amazing wins as a company in the last quarter that haven't always made it to the FYFs, mostly because they're wins that are not just ours. They're like wins, because our team has really done some amazing effort in. So a couple weeks ago, you shared about our tour announcing as a win. But also, like we released a bot.

    Brad Crowell 4:51

    We did.

    Lesley Logan 4:52

We released a bot. What is the bot? The LL bot, it's a clone of me, and my voice that will answer questions for our Profitable Pilates clients. And we talked about, I don't know when you and Emma started talking about this, but you and I talked about this in April.

    Brad Crowell 5:10

We've been talking about it for years, Emma and me.

    Lesley Logan 5:12

Yeah, yeah. And finally, technology and.

    Brad Crowell 5:15

    Emma and I.

    Lesley Logan 5:15

Yeah, yeah. Technology and need and desire and my willingness all kind of came together, and we were able to actually create a really good bot that you can be an Agency-on-demand member to explore, and that, it's been out for a couple of months now, but I (inaudible).

    Brad Crowell 5:36

It's a coaching bot for business. So like, what we did is we took six or seven years of webinars and courses and blog posts and newsletters and advice and all the things, and we combined it into a tool that allows us to basically have an automated bot that crawls all that information and comes back with responses. And you can have a conversation with it. You can literally call it. It's kind of insane. It sounds like you because we fed it videos of you, so it actually knows what you sound like. It's amazing. And with technology shifting, changing, growing, we're able to tap into that. And the coolest part about it is it's instant responses.

    Lesley Logan 5:36

Yeah, you're not waiting for me to, for example, after when I'm recording these, then I can go into Agency slack for the first time since Thursday.

    Brad Crowell 6:28

    Right.

    Lesley Logan 6:29

And so people have been waiting since Thursday if they didn't use the bot, and then our Agency-on-demand members don't even have access to that, so they'd have to wait a month, but instead, they can actually just call it or type in, and it really does a great job. And I'm just really proud of our team for collecting the data so that when this opportunity came together, we could take advantage of it and also for us rolling it out so that it really is helping more people. Our goal for Profitable Pilates is to help as many teachers and studio owners as possible. And there's only, there was only one of me and now, there are two.

    Brad Crowell 7:01

That is a win. That's amazing.

    Lesley Logan 7:04

So the other thing I just want to reflect on, like as a team, that we've been able to really do is we've released a new OPC website that was a year in the making. Brad, how many people were involved in that?

    Brad Crowell 7:16

    Oh, I don't know, 10, maybe 12. Yeah.

    Lesley Logan 7:20

And shout out to Amy Lavelli who's not on our team, but on our team, who really helped us go, no, guys, let's change that. Oh, do this. So, you know, y'all don't have to do everything on your own, is the point. And it all doesn't have to happen as soon as you have the idea. Some of our best, most brightest wins are years in the making and require a lot of people. So those are, do we have any other big project wins that happened this year that maybe I haven't shared? We already did the tour, OPC, we already did the flash cards.

    Brad Crowell 7:56

We actually split the Cambodia retreats off into its own brand.

    Lesley Logan 8:00

    Yes, oh yeah.

    Brad Crowell 8:02

It used to be under the Lesley Logan brand, and now its own brand, called crowsnestretreats. You've heard us say that on the pod.

    Brad Crowell 8:13

Yeah, we've been wanting to do that for a while, but it just was complicated, and now we had the capacity to do that. And so.

    Lesley Logan 8:11

We've been wanting to do that for years.

    Lesley Logan 8:16

Because here's a, here's a little peek behind the curtain, we want to have multiple crowsnests, not just Cambodia.

    Brad Crowell 8:26

    Yeah. Someday.

    Lesley Logan 8:27

And a lot of people are like, you should do this, and you should do this. I'm like, no, we will have multiple locations once our crowsnest Cambodia has people renting it for their own retreats, then we can have a Cambodia retreat, but then we could have a retreat somewhere else, but we gotta, you know, this is where, like, if you look at people who are doing all these things, oh they're doing all these things, first of all, they're not doing it alone. Second of all, if they're successful, they did one thing for a really long time, and that allowed them to have the foundation to break off to do all those things.

    Brad Crowell 9:00

    Yep.

    Lesley Logan 9:01

Yep. Well, that's enough wins. We gotta let these people go.

    Brad Crowell 9:05

Yeah, let's get to our mantra.

    Lesley Logan 9:06

Thank you. Here we go. I'm scrolling down. I'm scrolling down. Okay. I hold community for others and I'm held in community by others.

    Brad Crowell 9:15

I hold community for others and I'm held in community by others.

    Lesley Logan 9:16

Yes, I hold community for others and am held in community by others. Boom.

    Brad Crowell 9:25

    Oh yeah.

    Lesley Logan 9:26

    I love it.

    Brad Crowell 9:27

    That's how we do.

    Lesley Logan 9:28

You guys, go celebrate your wins. We want to hear them. Send them in to us, share them with a friend. You want to know what? This is the holiday season and people are always like, how you doing, how's this going? How you doing? And we go, I'm fine. I'm good. You can actually go, you know what I just won at today? Let me just tell you. And what if we actually changed the I'm good to like, here's how I slide today. If people go, oh my God, that person over there is a bit of a bragger, you can go, yeah, I am because I worked my ass off to get this win. I worked really hard. Or someone didn't show up for their plane flight, like last week, and still, you worked very hard. All right, loves, until next time, Be It Till You See It.

    Brad Crowell 10:02

    Bye for now.

    Sandra Chuma 0:00

My father would say to me all the time. He would say, you know, Sandra, to she who much is given, much is required. And he would say to me, your success will never mean anything unless you use it to help others, unless you use it to reach back and bring others with you.

    Lesley Logan 0:21

Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started.

    Lesley Logan 1:06

Welcome back to Be It Till You See It rewind.

    Brad Crowell 1:09

    What?

    Lesley Logan 1:10

What? This is the, it's not really the 2024 rewind, because these are not rewinding only 2024 episodes. In fact, they are rewinding episodes that go all the way back in time.

    Brad Crowell 1:20

    All the way back.

    Lesley Logan 1:21

But these are our favorite bold moments. And if you know the Be It Action Items, actually, the B stands for bold. So I'm really excited, because we actually have four clips for you to listen to that might help you know where to go back into the catalog and re-listen or listen for the first time, because, I mean, just heard this is episode 461, so if you are new to us, in the last year, there's like, hundreds of episodes. So how do you know where to go back to go to? This episode hopefully helps you go back to the bold moment.

    Brad Crowell 1:46

    Great place to get started.

    Lesley Logan 1:47

Yeah. So we have an episode that actually talks about how to find something good when you're the middle of the mud, you know, if you know the middle of anything sucks.

    Brad Crowell 1:56

    We all go through it.

    Lesley Logan 1:57

Yeah. How did you know that lotuses grow out of mud?

    Brad Crowell 2:00

I love that. What a story.

    Lesley Logan 2:02

The idea of, the episode has nothing to do with lotus (inaudible).

    Brad Crowell 2:04

Nothing to do with lotuses or our Cambodia retreat.

    Lesley Logan 2:08

No, you should come. And then we also have an episode about success and paying it forward.

    Brad Crowell 2:14

    Yes.

    Lesley Logan 2:14

And oh my gosh, that woman is an inspiration, and she continues to be. We get to continue to catch up with her. And I'm just blown away by how amazing she is.

    Brad Crowell 2:22

    Yes.

    Lesley Logan 2:23

And then we actually have an episode about jumping into a larger pond. And this is a fun, we had a lot of people who got so much out of this episode. I would have been remiss to not include it in the bold moments, because it helped you, a lot of you, take some big, bold moments. And our last clip is about stepping into your own Ruth. Talk about bold.

    Lesley Logan 2:43

All right, so our first clip for you is from Episode Five. And shout out to my mom. She quotes this episode all the time. I hear like literally 460 episodes later, and she still quotes episode five. So Amy Ledin is our guest for you to listen to. One of the things I really loved is about finding something good in the middle of the mud. Amy has an amazing story. Does not without its obstacles and valleys, and she's.

    Brad Crowell 3:08

    Yeah, it's challenging.

    Lesley Logan 3:09

Challenging. And I really love her outlook on life, and she only has that because she'll find something good in the middle of the mud.

    Brad Crowell 3:15

And she had a second part that we thought was really amazing, too. She talked about your inner bitch versus your inner boss.

    Lesley Logan 3:21

    Yeah.

    Brad Crowell 3:22

    What does that even mean?

    Lesley Logan 3:23

    You all have to listen.

    Brad Crowell 3:24

    Stick around. Here we go.

    Amy Ledin 3:26

I had asked my mom that because I'm like, I did a podcast once on, like, looking for the silver lining. And I do think it's something that, you know, I definitely was raised to in every negative situation. Stop and go, okay, but there is you got to find one good thing in the middle of the mud, like there has to be something good in the middle of the mud, because again, then your brain does start to focus on those things. And I definitely think that I at least have a little bit of that armor to help me through my cancer. But you made a good point. It was literally just seeing it one day at a time. Because if you would have told me I had to fight this for seven years, would I have necessarily showed up working as hard as I did? Maybe not. That's a really good point, because this is why you do have to just say it's one foot in front of the other, versus anticipating the hard points and just going I can make it through today, because everyone can make it through a day. I mean, I'm preaching this to myself today, on this day especially, is that I can make it through today. I don't know what next week is going to necessarily look like, and I didn't know what it was going to look like, but I knew that I could get up and crush my business in isolation in that day, and just doing that day after day is what made the business continue to go because I didn't look ahead at, like, what was going to be here next year. It was more like, you know, yes, creating your future self, and I think that's super important in like, designing a map for your future, because you do chase that, but in isolation of waking up every day, it's it's truly just saying, I can do it today, and it gets the depravation mindset away, because you get a lot of that in fat loss, where I'll hear clients like, it's so hard. I'm like, yep, now it's going to be hard for you, because that's what you're telling yourself. And the more you state those things to yourself, it just comes true for you. I have always really tried to get really tight with my inner voice, because I feel like, if you can learn to squash, because I feel like we've got like an inner bitch and an inner boss and the inner bitch. If your inner bitch is too loud, it's going to affect all your areas. So at night, it's almost like a brain dumping, where you don't have to do it on writing, but you lay in bed and do a little reflection, and where your inner bitch is the loudest, you need to squash her tomorrow and those little so maybe for one week, it's, you need to be a better mom, and I need to, like, be spending more time with the kids. But maybe the next week, it's not, you know, I mean, I time block, and I do all the things to, you know, manage my day, but I find that if I can learn to squash that, it just builds my confidence, whereas if I let that nag for a few days, that it can get worse and worse.

    Lesley Logan 6:01

So that was Episode Five. I hope you are able to now understand your inner bitch and your inner boss, and maybe you can start to pay attention to when they show up, especially during this chaotic part of the end of the year. Up next, we have Episode 17, when you realize you've been chasing the wrong things with Sandra Chuma. What, I mean, she's a bold woman, just like the whole episode could have been clipped here. She's just fabulous, wonderful, and she has an incredible story. We could have just stopped with, like, her sharing how she got from the bathroom floor to like, doing the things she did in life, and then she didn't stop there. That's why she's bold. She actually talks about how your success doesn't mean anything unless you use it to help others. We can climb. We gotta carry as we climb, and that is important to do. So here is Sandra Chuma.

    Sandra Chuma 6:47

It was that, I guess, crisis, and that confluence of events, and it also kind of coincided within our company, having challenges in our company, that led to me really having a come to somebody moment,

    Lesley Logan 7:01

    A come to Sandra moment.

    Sandra Chuma 7:05

Oh, true. I had a come to Sandra moment where I realized that I'd been chasing the wrong things all along, and the thing that made me happiest was helping other people. And it also went back to something my father, gosh, I'm getting all emotional here. My father died. It'll be two years next month. And one of the things growing up, even when we had nothing, what I saw my father and my mother model was giving. They always gave. And my father would say to me all the time. He would say, you know, Sandra, to she who much is given, much is required. And he would say to me, your success will never mean anything unless you use it to help others, unless you use it to reach back and bring others with you. And I felt like, wow, I'm not really doing that. And so that, I mean, obviously it wasn't like the heavens opened and the angels sang, and oh, I had the answer. It took me a while to get there. That's when I realized that my purpose, I'd not been in my purpose, I've not been chasing purpose, and so that my purpose was really focused on what I do now.

    Brad Crowell 8:27

How about that? Sandra Chuma, Episode 17, very inspirational, and what a call to action she has. Next up we got Episode 45 with Hazel Ortega. The episode's called A Fish Can't Grow Big In A Small Pond, and she talks about drawing her vision. Also talks about fist fighting her sister when she was a psychologist and her sister was a police officer, and the two of them started fighting each other, that was the beginning to them actually changing their relationship and making it amazing. But what a place to start from, right? In her vision, she talked about actually having a great relationship with her family and her sisters, and having the house that she has, and all the things. I thought it was really helpful to get it out of your head, get it onto a piece of paper and use that.

    Lesley Logan 9:11

I also like the idea of drawing, because sometimes we don't have the words to articulate, or the words have different definitions to us. And so I think when you sometimes just drawing it out, like you guys can go on Pinterest and you can actually just print out the the picture you have in your brain and put it on a piece of paper. You don't have to be a good drawer for this.

    Hazel Ortega 9:30

I did these things subconsciously. I didn't have, like, a to-do list that would make these things happen. I created my vision right in my brain, and then I drew it, and if you come to my house my drawing is framed, and it's in my dining room, and you can see this, it's like one day it's going to be in the Museum of Hazel, right?

    Lesley Logan 9:54

    Yes.

    Hazel Ortega 9:55

And my statue is going to be there, too.

    Lesley Logan 9:58

Absolutely. I hope it's wearing a red hat.

    Hazel Ortega 10:02

Okay. So I drew it, and then what happened is that in my real life, I didn't have those things, right? So one of the things I also said I wanted was a relationship with my sisters that looked like we were in heaven. At the time when I drew it, I was fist-fighting with my sisters, so I did not have that relationship with them. I was a psychologist fist fighting with my sister, who was a police officer at the time, okay?

    Lesley Logan 10:30

It's gonna be a TV show, just so, you know, this will be a movie.

    Hazel Ortega 10:36

Yes. And so what I did was, once I saw it in my brain and what I saw in real life was not that and it made me take action.

    Lesley Logan 10:47

So that was Episode 45. I highly recommend listening to the whole thing. We talked about her house being used on MTV. And guess what? It won. So there's a lot going on in there. A lot of inspiration for you. Up next we have Episode 259, Step Into Your Truth, with Nikole Mitchell, who has become a dear friend of Brad and ours, and oh my gosh, I find this episode to have so many different bold moments. I don't remember know how we chose just to pull a little bit out but, I really, because she was going from being a pastor and a woman on food stamps and raising her kids to really step into who the woman that she is, which is just freaking phenomenal and inspiring to so many people, but also really owning who she is as a human being. And we talk about how she did that, like, what kind of help she called in, what kind of support she called in, how that went for her. So.

    Brad Crowell 11:40

Yeah, she really is inspirational and an amazing woman. We've had a chance to get to know her.

    Lesley Logan 11:45

And she continues to rise, because she really takes her own advice to heart. I watch her post and I watch what she's doing. We get to hang out with her, and she practices what she preaches. Not to use the pastor preaching in there, but you know that it a cliche that works here.

    Brad Crowell 12:00

    Yep. Yeah. Okay, enjoy.

    Nikole M. Mitchell 12:02

So to try to step into your own and live your truth with the immense pressure of trying to be who everyone else needs you to be, it's hard enough to where, I think it's easy for people to never make that final leap. You try so hard for so long, and then that last jump is so terrifying to fully stand on your own two feet and knowing you're going to disappoint some people is terrifying. I think for most people, and especially women, who are, we just love people. I mean, they're humans, and we don't want to hurt anyone. And when I did this journey, it was such a slow like it was not an overnight sensation. And for me, it was like, I just want to hear my own truth. I want to speak my truth. I want to know my truth, apart from all the truth passed down to me, I want to take up space with my full self. And as scary as that was, I was so hungry for it, after decades of not taking up space, of shrinking, of sacrificing myself, and so I gave myself to, like, move in baby steps, very privately. I, like, kind of really couldn't, like, kind of hunker down, because I couldn't withstand any pushback. I was like a little baby chick on wobbly legs, one tiny gust of wind, and I'd be on my back flailing, and so I like, hunker down, removed myself from most circles because I couldn't explain to them what I was doing. This was very intimate transformation. And then once I got more sturdy on my legs, then I could start having conversations with people about who I was becoming and what I was doing.

    Brad Crowell 13:23

That was Episode 259 with Nikole Mitchell about stepping into your truth. What a hopeful message.

    Lesley Logan 13:30

Yeah, I, okay. So I didn't say at the intro to that clip, because some people can have like, a negative connotation to this, but she was a pastor. Now she is a stripper. And she's on only fans and one of the top people there. And I say that because I think we can learn from anybody. I think we can learn a lot of stories. And first of all, I actually think that people should be able to do what they feel called to do on this planet. And she is like Sandra Chuma, having success and paying it forward. She actually helps other people who want to step into their power to be themselves. And so we've had her on the podcast twice. That was her first episode. We actually had her back a couple months later, talking about manifesting. And so if you are wanting to call something in big in 2025 you can absolutely learn from that episode. You have to go find it in the catalog. I didn't look it up yet, but Brad is going to try to look up really quickly while I just say thank you so much for being here. Thank you for listening to these episodes. You know, something that I really love is all of these guests teach me something, and the point of this podcast is to help teach you something, and we'll each have different takeaways. So first of all, Brad and I love to hear what your takeaways are, so you can always send them into the podcast. Your aha moments. You can DM us.

    Brad Crowell 14:38

Yeah. Her second episode was 319 and 320 was the recap of that. Like Lesley was saying, we made this podcast because we have had some amazing people sow into our lives, and we wanted to create a forum where we could also then introduce some of these epic people to you and hope that they could inspire you in a similar way that they've inspired us.

    Lesley Logan 15:08

Yeah and even if you take one little nugget away, you know, or maybe it's validation that you get, like we underestimate the power of validity in our experience. Like, sometimes you just need people to tell you, like, I went to that too. And you can go, oh, I'm not alone there. And so that could even be a takeaway or an aha moment, and that could help you, be it till you see it. So, I'm Lesley Logan.

    Brad Crowell 15:32

    And I'm Brad Crowell.

    Lesley Logan 15:33

Thank you for listening to our rewind. We have a couple more rewinds for you as we wrap up this year. You know what to do. Until next time, Be It Till You See It.

    Episode Transcript:

    Lesley Logan 0:01

Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started.

    Lesley Logan 0:42

Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It Podcast. This is not an interview, this is not a recap, but it's like a rewind. Oh, it's like the MTV Rewind.

    Brad Crowell 0:51

    It's a rewind.

    Lesley Logan 0:52

That's what it is. Oh, my God. Only took us two of these to figure out, this is our third one, we finally figured it out. So this.

    Brad Crowell 0:58

If you like a rewind, make sure we know, because I think it's kind of cool.

    Lesley Logan 1:02

    I love a rewind.

    Brad Crowell 1:03

    Yeah, it's a rewind.

    Lesley Logan 1:04

Oh my God. Okay, so we're rewinding, we're reliving some of our favorite episodes. Look, we couldn't possibly get all of our favorite episodes into any recap, like.

    Brad Crowell 1:14

I know. This is Episode 460. Are you kidding?

    Lesley Logan 1:15

Yeah. And so we're picking four past episodes per episode you're listening to on a topic. And today is our favorite tips, which is clearly the most general category.

    Brad Crowell 1:26

Yes, this is our generic favorite tips, but they're super fun great tips.

    Lesley Logan 1:31

If you like Jeopardy, this is the potpourri episode. Okay? So in this episode, we're gonna cover manifesting, like a type of way of manifesting without being a double woo. We're actually going to talk about, like, what to do when you make a mistake or when things don't go your way. And then we're going to talk about how you can change your life in 2% of your day. Holy freaking molly, that one's going to blow your mind. If you do not remember that, then you haven't heard that episode. Because if you had heard this episode, you would already know what we're talking about.

    Brad Crowell 1:56

    Yeah, totally.

    Lesley Logan 1:57

And also, for my busy women, listen, it's all of you listening and the few good men you can send this to your busy woman in your life, like an inspiration on how one busy woman made the most out of her busy life to get to hit her goals that she has in her life. So here we go. Episode. What did you say? 460?

    Brad Crowell 2:15

    460. Whoo! Stick around. Here we go.

    Lesley Logan 2:19

So our first clip in this rewind is from the first episode ever.

    Brad Crowell 2:24

    The very first. Number one.

    Lesley Logan 2:26

When I interviewed Joanna Vargas, because I, like, had a batch interview a bunch of people, I was like, oh, this is the first episode. Like, I didn't know that when I picked her, but when we did the interview, I was like, this is being it till you see it. And so we're actually going to talk about this Remember When game, which is the most fun game, and I highly recommend playing it whenever you feel stuck.

    Brad Crowell 2:46

Yeah. Also, I'm pretty sure she used your name like 50 times in that episode, which I thought was a helpful trick for how to remember people's names, so we reflect on that as well.

    Lesley Logan 2:56

Yeah. Also, here's what I'll say. It definite. I just interviewed someone. The episode will come out soon. Her name is Kelsey Lensman, and listen to how many times she says my name and she doesn't just say Lesley. She said Les. Like, as if we're best friends. By the end of the episode, I was like, okay, Kels, when are we hanging out next? Like, I was like, This is my new best friend. And I don't normally follow all of our guests, because sometimes they poach us or whatever. But Joanna and this girl, Kels, I now follow, and I check on all the time. So here you go. Here's episode one.

    Joanna Vargas 3:27

Yeah, there's this game that I play. I have some girlfriends that know it, and it's called Remember When. And we'll just sit there, and we'll just drink coffee, or sometimes just some wine, and we just say, remember when, and we talk about things in the past as if they've already happened. So last summer, I was sitting at the park with a girlfriend. We're like, hey, remember when you're at my wedding? She's like, Oh my gosh. And we will give details. Remember when I made that toast and then I fell on my dress and we just start laughing. We will tell the most detailed stories. Oh my gosh. Remember when we went to Vegas and we had that phenomenal bachelorette party, and then we got free food, and we didn't have to pay for anything that whole night, and then she'll come in and go, yeah, remember when we took that helicopter? We will go on and on. Remember when that guy, he came and he just spoiled the heck out of me. Another thing we do is we'll send texts to each other, and we'll say, why are men so great to me? Why do men treat me like queens? Why do men buy me whatever, like, just on and on, and I'm like, oh, yeah, why? Why is it? And then the universe will show you why men are so good to you. Or you could say why are my clients just giving me so much money because of nothing? And then she'll text me, yeah, why are they? So we're already thinking and asking a question of true curiosity and as if it already happened. And so find somebody out there that you could play this game with, because not everybody will get it, right? And the ones that do get it text message, have a little session, a little zoom session, get together. I really, truly, it's so fun and make a game like little kids play Lesley, right?

    Brad Crowell 5:14

All right. So finally, let's talk about the Be It Actions from this interview, what bold, executable, intrinsic, or targeted action items can we take away from your convo with her? And I thought I jump in first and just say, one thing that I noticed wasn't anything you talked about. It wasn't like an actual talking point you had. If you go back and you listen to this interview, I am pretty sure she used your name, Lesley, 50 times.

    Lesley Logan 5:44

    I know.

    Brad Crowell 5:45

She says it in almost every sentence. Lesley, you know what? Lesley, you know, this, Lesley, Lesley, right? And I picked up on it, like, maybe halfway through, two thirds way through. And I was just like, now I was listening for it, and then I heard it the rest of the time through. And I thought, wow, she is just so amazing at connecting to people in how she engages with them, she focuses on them, she speaks their name, she knows them. This is obviously a sales tactic for those of you who have ever done any kind of sales.

    Lesley Logan 6:14

(inaudible) only like her thoughts to me, like, she wasn't selling anything.

    Lesley Logan 6:19

Okay, so that was episode one. And the best way to find that is in your whatever podcast app you use, you have to go all the way back, or if you're on the OPC app, you can actually probably just search for itand that might make it really easy. I don't know. At any rate, it's Episode One. Now we're gonna go to Episode 43 so we're still early on in the podcast, and I really loved our guest, Jennifer van Barneveld-Pe. She's first of all, a beautiful human kind of in a way where you're like, oh, you might be a little jealous of how beautiful this human is, but I really love how vulnerable she is and how honest she is. And the whole episode, she actually talks about being a mom and it making time for herself. But first I want to talk about asking for help. And she has this really fun thing of how she handles when things don't go well, and it's about correcting and continuing. It really kind of helps you, like it's kind of the be it till you see it, isn't it?

    Brad Crowell 7:13

Yeah and asking for help, right? And then she also had some pretty powerful advice at the end about being more organized in your schedule, this helped me begin to live by my calendar.

    Lesley Logan 7:26

    Stop it.

    Brad Crowell 7:27

    What?

    Lesley Logan 7:27

    What?

    Brad Crowell 7:28

    Yeah, take it away. Enjoy.

    Jennifer van Barneveld-Pe 7:31

So I have a really great support system. My husband is in the business with me, and he fully understands and so like he knows that if I have to do something, he's got the kids. I've also had to learn that I'm always gonna have that mom guilt. I feel like mom guilt is just a normal thing to have. You just have to accept it. And, you know, do your best, show up the best you can, but also be okay with asking for help when you need it. And so we have a nanny that comes in and helps us, and she's like family now. And I had, when I first hired a nanny, when I had my first son, I had so much guilt about it, I was like I got but I have to be there for him. I have to be there. And now I've let that go, because I now look at it as a blessing that he can have somebody else in his life to make an impact, to make him more of a well-rounded person, or them both a more well-rounded person. So having the grandparents there, and having, you know, the caregiver there, and then also having our undivided attention at a certain time. You know, my cutoff is always five o'clock, and I'm with them 110% so, you know, I've just, when you become a mom, you just have to be more organized in your schedule. Recently, I've been getting up earlier and just getting my workout in a lot earlier. And I've, literally, I said recently, because it's been, like, four days, but it's a game changer, like six o'clock workout, do some work before the kids get up. And, I mean, it's been such a game changer. And I'm doing that for myself, you know, I had that me time before the day starts, which is so key.

    Lesley Logan 9:18

So that was Episode 43, if you want to go listen to the full thing. And I hope you do. I hope this helps you go back to the fun catalog that we have. I do know, shout out, I can't shout out the names, because I remember your faces, but not your names. To my peeps in Texas who've listened to the entire catalog three times through, you are brilliant. And then one of our girls in Alabama had only found us, like, eight months ago, and started with episode one, and a couple months ago finished it, so she is on track. So you guys be inspired. You can go back to the beginning anytime you want and do a rewind of your own.

    Lesley Logan 9:46

Up next, we have Episode 185 2% is only 30 minutes of your day. So we just gave away what that is. 30 minutes of your day is 2%.

    Brad Crowell 9:55

    That's not insane.

    Lesley Logan 9:56

Insane. So when you tell me you don't have time, you don't have 2% of your day for you, we got problems. But, Dai Manuael, and every time I see his name, I want to go Dai Manuel Miranda, and I know that's not his name, but like, does it? I just anyways, he is epic. He's got a beautiful story about riding his bicycle, and then also, like, how he really helps people break up their day, because 2% of your day is 30 minutes, and he also gives out tips on how to break up that 30 minutes. You can make the most of it. So even, it doesn't have to all be exercise or all be reading. He has a really wonderful way for you to take 2% of your day for you to make your life better. So here is Become a Champion of Change with DaiManuel, Episode 185.

    Dai Manuel 10:39

Here's the thing, we've all got 30 minutes a day. All right? I know there's people thinking, I don't have 30 minutes a day. I'm like, you know what? Give me your smartphone, we're gonna go into the settings and you're gonna look at the thing called screen time, okay? I know you got 30 minutes now. You know, like, don't tell me don't. Now, here's the thing that's only 2% of every 24 hours. So what I want you to do is make a commitment to yourself that you're going to commit 28 days straight, that's four weeks, where you're going to make non negotiable every day 30 minutes for yourself. And in this 30 minutes, you're going to do something very specific. You're going to move your body with purpose for 15 minutes. Okay? You're just going to move it. I don't care how you move it. Just move it any way you want. As I always say, always, always, okay, like, move your body for 15 minutes, get your heart rate elevated, feel into your body, so if you did something good, then you're going to immediately follow that with five minutes of mindful meditation. All right? Now, that's 20 minutes. Now, for the last 10 minutes, you're going to feed that muscle between the ears, okay, that brain of yours with something positive, intentional, focused, personal development, not professional development. Personal Development. Okay? We all get lots of professional development, but I want you to work on yourself personally. So you can listen to a podcast like Lesley's, you know, you can listen to a TED Talk. By the way, I did a TEDx talk a year ago on vulnerability in men.

    Lesley Logan 12:00

    That's so cool.

    Dai Manuel 12:01

So there's a little plug there, self plug, sorry, sorry, sorry.

    Lesley Logan 12:05

    I love it.

    Dai Manuel 12:06

Also, you know, whatever it is, but feed your mind something positive for 10 minutes, and you'll find that after exercising that mindfulness meditation, you're ready to receive and you become a sponge. But that's just 2% of your 24 hours, okay? And in that, if you commit to that for four weeks, I've never had anybody come up to me and say I didn't experience a big shift. I know you will. Body, mind and spirit, you'll shift.

    Brad Crowell 12:28

Okay, so, wow. Episode 185 with Dai Manuel, 2% is only 30 minutes of your day that, I mean, it's kind of mind-blowing, and it makes me re-evaluate the stories I'm telling myself. So, next up we have Episode 307, 307 with Jenn Drummond. Jenn is like an incredibly inspirational human being, slash, epic mom, slash, what the hell.

    Lesley Logan 12:28

She climbed all seven K2s, and she was not a rock climber or hiker, professional climber, before the pandemic. So, yeah.

    Brad Crowell 13:04

So this one is Reaching New Heights And Transforming Life Post-Accident with Jenn Drummond, and what was super fun was her telling her story about how she uses her time while she can actually be present and still maximize her time so that she could prep for those epic climbs.

    Lesley Logan 13:21

    She has seven kids.

    Brad Crowell 13:22

    She has seven, seven kids.

    Lesley Logan 13:24

Yeah, so I had to ask. I had to go, how the hell did you, like, do you have seven nannies? Like, what do you got? You know?

    Brad Crowell 13:30

    It's amazing.

    Lesley Logan 13:30

    Her tip is epic.

    Brad Crowell 13:31

Yeah. So here you go, enjoy.

    Jenn Drummond 13:34

So when you have restrictions or limitations or whatever, that's not a no. That's a time to pull out the creativity bone and figure out what you're going to do. And so some of the meetings that I was on, I didn't have to be visually present, so I could walk on the treadmill and do the Zoom call, right? And I had this little thing called this Firefly. I don't know if you met Fred the Firefly but, Fred the Firefly is a very nice friend of mine, and he listens on all my Zoom meetings that we invite him to, and he takes all the notes for me. So then I can be walking. I'm like, oh, Fred caught that. I'll make sure I look at it a little more detailed later on. And so that was helpful. And then when my kids had soccer games, right? Soccer games are an hour and a half. They're forever, especially when your kid's not good, they're even longer. They're an hour and a half. And so I would bring a 12-inch step to the game. I'd bring a backpack full of water bottles, and I was that mom like standing on the sideline going, doing my step up. So I was watching the game, instead of the mom that was sitting there just watching. So I had to, you know, I had to make it work.

    Lesley Logan 14:34

That was Episode 307. I hope you go back and listen to the whole thing. I learned so much. I went on a journey. She is just fabulous. And she has a great book, which we read as well, and I just really enjoy it.

    Lesley Logan 14:46

And that wraps up our favorite tips, which is, by the way, clearly not including all of our favorite tips of all the Be It Till You See It interviews we've done, but hopefully it's a rewind that helps you go back to four in the catalog, and really take in like, what are your favorite tips of these guests? We want to know. So share it with the Be It Pod. You can tag the Be It Pod on Instagram. You can share it in a review with five stars, please. And you can also share this with a friend who is looking like maybe they're just feeling a little stuck or lost, like one of these tips might be exactly what they need. Sometimes we don't know what to say to people. We can send them an episode and it could be, oh, they'll pick out the thing that they needed to hear that day, which could be really cool.

    Brad Crowell 15:26

And also, too, these rewind episodes are really fun to send out because it is a little bit of a taste of a bunch of different episodes for them, and they'll really get to know Lesley, I don't think I'm in these too much, but.

    Lesley Logan 15:38

You're not at all on any of them.

    Brad Crowell 15:40

No, but I'm in the middle. I'm in the middle of all these. So, here I am. I'm here.

    Lesley Logan 15:45

He's here. And also, like, you know, the Be It Till You See It podcast grows because of you. It grows because you share the episodes. Let's be honest. Everyone's really busy, and most people are not randomly finding a podcast on their own. So we just want to (inaudible) thank you.

    Brad Crowell 15:58

I don't remember the last time I opened the pod app to be like, what is out there?

    Lesley Logan 16:01

    No, I never.

    Brad Crowell 16:03

    It's all referral-based.

    Lesley Logan 16:03

It's all referral-based. So thank you so much, and we hope that this episode helps you share the Be It Till You See It podcast with a friend. Because we, as long as we continue to grow, we can continue to get bigger and bigger guests. I have some dream guests. I have some huge dream guests. And the more downloads we get, the easier it is for me to get those dream guests, and I might as well say it now we're in the top 1.5% of our podcast because of you guys. (inaudible)

    Brad Crowell 16:28

That means we've actually grown in our listenership. Thanks to you.

    Lesley Logan 16:32

    Thanks to you.

    Brad Crowell 16:33

    So, you're amazing.

    Lesley Logan 16:34

Thank you for listening. Until next time, you know what to do, Be It Till You See It. Yes, Brad finally got it.

    Brad Crowell 16:41

    I'm Brad Crowell.

    Lesley Logan 16:42

I'm Lesley Logan. Have an amazing day.

    Brad Crowell 16:44

    Lesley Logan 0:00

    It's Fuck Yeah Friday.

    Brad Crowell 0:01

    Fuck yeah.

    Lesley Logan 0:05

Welcome to your, probably your favorite podcast episode comes on a Friday. Honestly, most podcasts on Fridays are long and who has the time? And really, you just want to know that it's Friday. This is like the TGIF. Did you ever watch that, Brad? Did you get to watch TGIF?

    Brad Crowell 1:01

    No.

    Lesley Logan 1:02

    Your parents didn't let you?

    Brad Crowell 1:03

    No.

    Lesley Logan 1:04

Oh my God, Family Matters, Step By Step?

    Brad Crowell 1:07

    Nope.

    Lesley Logan 1:08

Oh so good. It was like two hours of like sitcom shows that were weekly episodes. And we lived for TGIF.

    Brad Crowell 1:17

Yeah, I was allowed to watch, like, Mathnet and Reading Rainbow, and then we would go to TGIFriday's.

    Lesley Logan 1:23

No, that's a lot of money.

    Brad Crowell 1:25

    Not the same.

    Lesley Logan 1:25

    Never, no, no, no.

    Brad Crowell 1:28

Special occasions. Come on, let's be real.

    Lesley Logan 1:30

Yeah. So this is the Fuck Yeah Friday. It's the adult version of TGIF, and it's actually where we celebrate some of your wins you've sent in, and some of ours.

    Brad Crowell 1:38

    Yes.

    Lesley Logan 1:39

So we have Ainsley. We just got back from Cambodia with Ainsley.

    Brad Crowell 1:42

    We did.

    Lesley Logan 1:43

And we're gonna see her in March. And she said, so this, obviously, this win is from a bit ago, because it's before, before Cambodia. But she said currently boarded and sat on the plane for Cambodia, that's got to be a huge win. 10 beautiful days filled with adventure Pilates and Pilates people, oh, and so far, there's no one sat next to me. I'm excited for the adventures that lay ahead.

    Brad Crowell 2:07

Well, I could attest those were adventures.

    Lesley Logan 2:10

    They were amazing adventures.

    Brad Crowell 2:12

    It was incredible.

    Lesley Logan 2:12

And that was Ainsley's two years in a row.

    Brad Crowell 2:13

Yeah, second time joining us. Yeah.

    Lesley Logan 2:16

Fabulous. Like, it's amazing. It was amazing to watch Ainsley do it a year again, like, in a row.

    Brad Crowell 2:22

    Yeah, your limit.

    Lesley Logan 2:22

And just see how much her life has changed because of what she implemented from the last retreat. And now I can't even wait to see, no, we'll just see her in March at another retreat, so, here at the house, so I can't wait to see what she's implemented by then.

    Brad Crowell 2:35

    Yeah, it's gonna be amazing.

    Lesley Logan 2:36

All right, we have Erin Donohue.

    Brad Crowell 2:38

    Okay.

    Lesley Logan 2:38

She is an eLevate OG grad.

    Brad Crowell 2:40

    Oh, yeah.

    Lesley Logan 2:41

And she wrote so many wins. Backstory to my personal win. With the help of Lesley Logan, my incredible partner, Kim Craig, and the amazing ladies in my eLevate cohort, I've realized my worth and found the strength to leave my emotionally abusive marriage. I had to quit my job in a private practice PT, and take a hospital-based job to get health insurance and a salary to pay my bills. After a year of hustling, I saved up enough money for the eLevate retreat in 2025. I can't wait. My practice win, I made time for movement snacks throughout the week. It helped me stay consistent. Today was 15 minutes on the chair before my afternoon client. My teaching win, I have a client who practices Pilates in a bigger body. She told me this week after a session, I never thought I'd find a form of exercise that I like, but I really like this. I am so honored to teach her.

    Brad Crowell 3:26

    Wow, that is a lot.

    Lesley Logan 3:28

    I'm emotional.

    Brad Crowell 3:29

    That is a lot.

    Lesley Logan 3:30

I'm gonna cry. So first of all, a year ago, we're on winter tour, and on the day that this comes out, we'll have just seen Erin in Hershey, actually.

    Brad Crowell 3:39

    Oh, fun.

    Lesley Logan 3:40

I don't know. Maybe not. Guys, don't ask. Two days from now, we're gonna see Erin in Hershey two days from now. Okay, so we're recording this in the past for the future. But she had said are you going to do the Elevate retreat again? And I said I don't know, you know, like, I was hoping more people would want to come, and this is important. Like, not everything goes the way you want. But she's like, oh, I really wanted to go. Just couldn't make it happen this year. I said okay, look, I will do it one more time, and you have to come, and you have to get other people to come, and she fucking did it. I love that we get to share this win on this FYF, because some of these wins are years in the making.

    Brad Crowell 4:14

    Yeah.

    Lesley Logan 4:17

And I also think it's really cool that she shared she had to make some really tough decisions, like leaving a job that you love to do a job that you also are qualified to do, but maybe you have to make some changes to your schedule or changes where you work, or changes with who you work, so that you can make the life changes that are going to be long lasting. You can look at this with a lens of oh, that sucks. Instead of oh, I get to do this so that I can have these things. I just really love that she shared that with us. Because sometimes we have to make decisions in our life that feel like a setback, but they're really set ups for opportunities, and also that teaching win is fucking beautiful.

    Brad Crowell 4:50

That's super fun. That's the kind of client that makes you excited to show up for work. So totally love that. Totally get that.

    Lesley Logan 4:57

Yeah, oh my God, Erin, thank you so much. And Ainsley, for sharing these wins. Also, I just want to highlight Ainsley's one more time. Do you see how she made no one is currently sat next to me as a win like wins don't have to be efforting that like, you did. It could be lack of effort on someone else's part.

    Lesley Logan 5:15

All right, I have a win, unless you have one.

    Brad Crowell 5:17

    No, go.

    Lesley Logan 5:18

Okay, this podcast is in the top 1.5%.

    Brad Crowell 5:20

    What?

    Lesley Logan 5:22

    Yeah.

    Brad Crowell 5:22

    I know. I'm excited.

    Lesley Logan 5:24

So when we launched the podcast, because of our dedicated listenership, we actually launched at the top 2% like, which is cool and incredible. We were beating our friends, and that felt weird and cool. We would never say that in front of their face. I was like, I'm proud of us for doing that. But then we sat at 2% forever. And now look, here's the deal.

    Brad Crowell 5:43

    For how many it's.

    Lesley Logan 5:44

When did we launch in '21 or '22?

    Brad Crowell 5:46

    2021? 2021.

    Lesley Logan 5:48

2021. So three and a half years.

    Brad Crowell 5:50

Yeah, three and a half years.

    Lesley Logan 5:51

Yeah. And here's the deal, we also, in those three and a half years, thousands, tens of thousands of podcasts have launched.

    Brad Crowell 5:58

    Oh my gosh.

    Lesley Logan 5:58

    So we didn't.

    Brad Crowell 5:59

    Probably millions.

    Lesley Logan 5:59

Millions. We didn't drop out of the top 2% but it was just frustrating, because in all the podcasts of all the world, we were in the same spot for three and a half years about, with all the effort that we were doing. And I'm like, I don't, doesn't anyone like us, the downloads are going up. What's going up? But honestly, I, we might have hit 1.5% a month ago or two months ago, but I stopped looking because I was getting really sad about it. So that is a team win, and also it's a win that includes you, because your listening is what made it happen. So you get a listen score and a percentage, and the percentage gets better as the listen score goes up, which means the number of people who are listening, but also the amount of time they're listening, so listen all the way to the end, or at least fast forward. But don't skip the mantra. So anyways, I think that's a great win.

    Brad Crowell 6:50

Yeah, that's a good one. That's amazing. It's exciting to see forward progress, for sure. Sometimes it has felt like, are we spinning our wheels? But no, apparently we're not. So, that's exciting. I love it.

    Lesley Logan 6:59

    Yeah. I love it.

    Brad Crowell 7:01

    Validation.

    Lesley Logan 7:02

That's exactly what that was. Yeah. Okay, so the mantra for today, I embrace change seamlessly and rise to the new opportunity it presents. There's a lot of words in this.

    Brad Crowell 7:14

I embrace change seamlessly and rise to the new opportunity it presents.

    Lesley Logan 7:19

Yes, we repeat it three times, I embrace change seamlessly and rise to the new opportunity it presents. I mean, it's December, like, middle of December, like, right now, guys, there's a lot of change that probably not many of us are doing well, seamlessly well. So let's try it. And there's an opportunity it presents. And I think that actually goes align with the two wins that we shared with our listeners and ours, you know, so I don't know that we were that seamless and celebrating the fuck out of yes, we're 1.5% and I can't wait the next step is 1%.

    Brad Crowell 7:51

    Heck yeah, let's do this.

    Lesley Logan 7:53

Alright. Thank you all so very much. Until next time, Be It Till You See It.

    Brad Crowell 7:56

    Bye for now.

    Lesley Logan 7:58

That's all I got for this episode of the Be It Till You See It Podcast. Let's get started.

    Lesley Logan 0:42

Welcome back to Be It Till You See It. You guys, we are continuing our, what do you call it? A round up, babe? You call it collection?

    Brad Crowell 0:49

Yeah, we call it the December round-up.

    Lesley Logan 0:51

Yeah. It's basically like a reflection review. And this particular episode has four of our favorite guests that have to do with health. We have these, have had multiple episodes that have to do with health.

    Brad Crowell 1:03

    Many, many, many.

    Lesley Logan 1:04

Many. And so we are going to span the wide ranging topic of health, which can be a lot of things. We've got the tripod of health. We've got hormones in this one. We're gonna have sex in this one.

    Brad Crowell 1:13

Yeah, food is as part of the tripod.

    Lesley Logan 1:15

Yes, yes. We got lots of stuff so.

    Brad Crowell 1:18

    Fitness, of course.

    Lesley Logan 1:19

So if you have been wondering, what health episode should I listen to during this chaotic month of December when most of my podcasts aren't listing anything new? The Be It Pod has given you four awesome ones, and we'll link even the numbers. You can go back and listen to the full interview in our catalog when you're ready.

    Brad Crowell 1:38

Let's dig in the first episode that we're gonna talk about today, that we're bringing back is episode number 25.

    Lesley Logan 1:45

    Twenty-five.

    Brad Crowell 1:45

Twenty-five all the way back towards the very beginning.

    Lesley Logan 1:49

    It's like 2022.

    Brad Crowell 1:51

We had a chance to interview Uma Naralkar, who talks a lot about food and nutrition, and we have two sections of this that we thought were really spectacular. So.

    Lesley Logan 2:07

Yeah, so first up, I really, I thought it was really cool and vulnerable that she talked about when she moved to the US and what the food was like, and how that challenged her and got her interested in what she has become known for, and being a nutritionist and things like that. So I'm really excited for us to hear her story of moving to the US.

    Brad Crowell 2:27

Yeah, so, and also she talked about this, her process of how she works with her clients, and she created something called the Tripod of Optimal Health. And I'm not going to tell you what it is, because you're going to hear it just after this. So tune in.

    Uma Naralkar 2:41

The biggest difference for me was the food, right? So in India, we have a lot of health. Inherently, there's health and cooks and food is never something that I had to even think about. So that's the reason why it was always so well -balanced and healthy, because it was like home-cooked Indian food and all the beautiful dals and vegetables, and it was primarily vegetarian. We ate meat on the weekends as like a treat. Dessert would always be homemade, something made in ghee, like, very, very like, decently portioned. And I came to America where everything was supersized, right? And I was a student. And, I mean, I was, first, it was shocking, then it was exciting, and then it was kind of like, I didn't have a choice. I was hungry, and I had to eat, and I was a student, so it was like, McDonald's and all the other and it was truly exciting, I have to say, in the beginning, because I was like, what is going on? Why are these people eating so much? But it was a huge adjustment. And you know, when you're asking me about how I, you know, the thing that I had to kind of like, get over and just be like, I'm going to embody this. I am. You know, the book Atomic Habits. Have you read that?

    Lesley Logan 4:01

    Yes.

    Uma Naralkar 4:01

James Clear. He talks about shifting your identity to who you want to be. Do you remember that part of the book? What he's saying is that if you, you know you, if you want something, if you truly believe that you want something, you need to believe that you have it, and you need to shift your identity in the sense that you know I am a confident 20 year old girl in the United States, where I don't know shit about this country and I truly don't understand, have the words that they use. And at 20, was I clear about what I'm saying now? No, not at all, because it was nerve-racking. And the reason why I'm bringing it up is because the biggest obstacle, apart from the food, my biggest challenge, was speaking, or just speaking out in class, or just raising my hand, or just standing in front of an audience and saying, like anything, it was something that I didn't grow up with. In India, you never get an opportunity to speak anything. Everything is crowded and they don't have time for anybody speaking. So I think it was a true challenge, and it sounds so, it doesn't sound like a big deal because my children, both of them, grew up here. They're Californians, and, you know, I can see how speaking is so inherent, right? Like you're in a group setting, or if you're in a big crowd, just saying what you feel is pretty standard. First off, yes, to therapy. I think all kinds of therapy is, I appreciate all of it. And I think people, it's still, it's very interesting. Still, people have a lot of resistance to see a therapist or to, you know, just to open up and talk to someone else about what's going on. So yes, to therapy, but more than that, yeah, nutrition, what you're eating, is going to be foundational movement and how active you are and what you're doing there, as well as your stress levels, your sleep, all that, I think ties in. It is pretty holistic. I don't think it's one or the other. And I have a lot of really fit clients who are like, I mean, as fit as they can be, who are miserable, who are so unhappy, who are, who are they like, constantly looking for ways to, you know, get to the next level. And, quite frankly, they don't even know what the next level is. So I think it's, everyone's very different. And for one person, maybe it's like, you know, your nutrition is seriously lacking, and we need to make some switches so that you start, like, having a better relationship with food. But for someone else, it might just be something as simple as, you know, like doing yoga or getting out in nature, someone who's like, stuck in front of their computer all day and doesn't even like, realize it like, for example, like the best, I think the best example I can give is like being in a casino, right? Like, in inside a casino, like, how clever is that? It's like the lights are always the same, it's always bright, it's always entertaining. There's enough blue light to kick the melatonin out, so you're always in that cortisol rush. They want that because they want you to play. But that's how we are pretty, pretty much living our life like, like we're in a casino, right? Because we're indoors, we are in front of the computer, then we are watching something, and then we expect to have a good night's sleep. So I feel like it's, it's just, it all ties in, and it's not one thing I call it, I call it the Tripod, actually, of Optimal Health, which is what you're eating, what your movement, your life activity, your lifestyle, and then your mental health, your mindset, right? They all tie in. And then your health is sort of like sitting on that tripod. So if one of those legs is like wobbly, then the whole thing is going to collapse.

    Lesley Logan 7:59

So that was Episode 25 and we would love to know, we would love for you to share with us what part of the Tripod of Health that you're going to work on as we come into 2025 and no, it won't be a New Year's resolution. It will just be a thing that you're doing. Now we have Episode 55, so we're going way back in the catalog today's episode, and it's how are hormones dictating your life? And one of the things.

    Brad Crowell 8:21

    With?

    Lesley Logan 8:21

    With Jenn Pike.

    Brad Crowell 8:22

    With Jenn Pike.

    Lesley Logan 8:23

Yeah, one of the things that we talk about that I'm really excited for you to talk, like, here is that the four different phases in your cycle, and this is really, really important, because I have a lot of people ask me a lot of questions about perimenopause. I want more episodes on this. But if you are not perimenopausal yet, or maybe you still have your cycle, but you're kind of, you know, that's what perimenopause is. You got to know what parts of the cycle you're in, because it affects how you work out. It affects what you should be eating. I had, there's some dream guests on my list that I want to have in future episodes, but we need to know these parts for those guests to make any sense. So like, dive into that first part with the different phases of your cycle, even if you think you know them.

    Brad Crowell 9:00

Yeah, the second part of this episode, though, I thought was really beneficial, was talking about educating both men and women on this. So I remember listening to this the first time, you know, a couple years ago, and I was taking notes because I knew none of this. I don't know how (inaudible)

    Lesley Logan 9:17

And you have a mom and a sister.

    Brad Crowell 9:18

And I went through high school and college, and never learned any of this stuff.

    Lesley Logan 9:22

And you had a wife before me.

    Brad Crowell 9:23

And I did have a wife before you, still didn't know any of this stuff. So, so the, she, Jenn talks about stigmatism, shame and embarrassment and the value of educating her son. I think she has sons. I can't remember. Son. She's one son. She's talking about how he knows just as much about the female body as her daughter and the value like, they, as a couple, decided to educate their son on purpose to avoid stigmatism and shame and embarrassment. So I thought that was really great.

    Lesley Logan 9:57

I love it. I love her. I love her for that already.

    Brad Crowell 10:00

Yeah. It's a win. There you go.

    Jenn Pike 10:03

So we go through four different phases in our cycle. So our cycle and our period are not the same thing. Your cycle is from day one of your bleed all the way through until you have your next bleed. That's a full cycle. Most women, it's going to range anywhere from 23 to 35 days. And in that cycle you have four different phases. So you have the phase that you bleed in, which is your actual period, when you come out of your period, you actually have what's referred to as the first phase, which is the follicular phase. And this is where your body, your hormones and estrogen and testosterone are starting to climb. Your uterine lining is starting to thicken again. This is typically where we actually feel more connected to our body. We do well with the estrogen surge. We feel clear, more focused, energized, happier. We're like gung-ho. We want to create new projects. We're super, you know, on point. Leading into ovulation, ovulation comes, it tends to be much more of a you know, I want to put myself out there. Confidence can peak a little higher, sex drive, typically. And the way I'm painting this picture, this isn't going to be for every woman. I'm just going to kind of give one example, and then I'll apex it on the other side. Once ovulation happens, you've now had this dip in estrogen and testosterone, and your luteinizing hormones increase as long as you've ovulated, your progesterone also increases. And that actually is a much more calming hormone. It helps us to integrate. It brings us into a place that is much more reflective, in that luteal phase, which are the couple weeks coming into your period. It's a time to really look at like what is working and what is not. It's time to finish projects. It's a time when you can feel really connected to your body, and then this is one of the times where you'll also know if things are out of balance, if that like seven to 10 day period of time before you bleed again, your mood's all over the place, you're emotional, your sleep is off, your gut is off, you're spotting. Your breasts are tender, like you're just like, oh my God, here we go again. My skin's breaking out. All the things are happening. That's a really strong indication that something is out of balance in your system. And it could be that you didn't ovulate, that you have lower progesterone, you have too much estrogen, it could be that all the hormones are sitting flat. It could be that testosterone and DHA is too high. So this is why testing and testing at the appropriate time of the month is such a valuable tool for women, because when you see it and someone's explaining it to you you're like, oh my gosh, I feel like you just described me to a tee. Yeah.

    Lesley Logan 12:34

No, I'm like, I'm like, sitting here, and I'm like, taking it all in, and I, like that whole part where it's like, that 7, 10, days before you just said, like, this is what you're gonna feel like, but this is also you could feel a look where things are out of whack. And I think we're taught, or at least I felt like, I felt like that's just the normal thing, like things are out of whack. And, yeah, what it sounds like, is it, and I did experience this, I did seed cycling for a long time because I felt like my swings were too big. And I was like, y'all, my boobs are a little bigger because of COVID and age, but they were very small back then. And I was like, they are too small to be this tender. Like this is not fun for me. And so I heard about seed cycling, and I did it consistently for three years. Not only did I literally make myself like clockwork with my cycle, I stopped breaking out. I don't have tenderness, and I've weaned off of it, and it hasn't been an issue, but I did notice that difference in that time before, it was almost like my period was a surprise each time, because I was like, oh, I didn't even know it's coming. (inaudible) Was feeling so good. That's so fascinating. Okay, so thank you for walking us through that. I think that it's helpful to know, like, just when you have the information, like you said, you just can expect things a little different, and you can know more about how you should be feeling, as opposed to like. Why do I feel like this versus yesterday? I felt better.

    Jenn Pike 13:55

I just want to say something quick on that before you go and you're talking about, you know, doing the recap with your husband. So I have two kids, a girl and a boy. My son knows just as much about the female body and cycles as my daughter, and that's on purpose, because part of the stigmatism and the shame and embarrassment ends when we stop excluding men and boys from the conversation as well. It, you know, it's like there's going to come a time in a boy's life where he's gonna, you know, you're either gonna be around a woman or your girlfriend or whatever it is, and you need to be able to understand what she's going through. And as I always say to my son, like bud, you wouldn't even be here if it weren't for our bodies doing this. So you should be darn grateful.

    Brad Crowell 14:33

All right, so that was Episode 55 with Jenn Pike. Hope you found it super helpful and educational.

    Lesley Logan 14:40

Her entire episode is so, has so, it's chock-full of information. You can, you could do, if you just used her episode to figure out what your health changes are for 2025 you would have enough to work on.

    Brad Crowell 14:54

Yeah, she's got a lot going on, and it's amazing. All right, next up we got Episode 85 let's talk about sex baby with Celeste Holbrook.

    Lesley Logan 15:02

I'm obsessed with her. Just so you know, I'm actually having a call with her tomorrow morning (inaudible) on the day that I, because I just love her.

    Brad Crowell 15:09

Well, she basically talked about, it's kind of a tack on to what we were just talking about with with Jenn Pike, about removing shame and embarrassment. This is about destigmatizing sex and the language around sex. And one thing she said that I thought was amazing was she pets her dog because she wants to feel calm. She rides her bike because she wants to, well, feel free. She has sex because she wants to feel pleasure, right? And it's like, we make it this taboo, weird, awkward thing, and she's like, but it shouldn't be that, you know? And she talks, she goes really in-depth about how, you know, how you might find pleasure in sex.

    Lesley Logan 15:48

Just so you know, I loved her so much we had her on the podcast twice. And we actually talked about bodies and all that stuff. So she's just fabulous. And especially for any of you who are raised in the purity culture, this episode is extremely freeing and informative.

    Brad Crowell 16:04

    Yeah, yeah. So enjoy.

    Celeste Holbrook 16:06

I always think about what we want to feel in sex. Because everything that we do behaviorally, we do it because we want to feel something. So, like, I pet my dog because I want to feel calm. I ride my bike because I want to feel free. I do certain sexual activities because I want to feel pleasure, connection, erotic, intimate, loving, whatever it is that I want to feel in sex. And so start with the feeling. So, write down my dream sexual experience would feel like, and then write those words down, and then you can work your way backwards, like, okay, if I want to feel confident, what do I need to do behaviorally in order to feel confident? Maybe I need to learn more about my body. Maybe I need to establish a better relationship with my vulva and, like, clitoris. Maybe I need to have a masturbation practice. Maybe I need to read some more books, right? So start with what you want to feel and then work your way backwards. I want to feel connected. Okay, maybe I need to work on communication styles with my partner. Maybe I need to learn how to ask more for what I want, and maybe I don't know what I want. So maybe I need to take one more step back and figure out what I like and what I don't like, and do some more creative exploration in sex, you know. So I like to start out with that list of what we want to feel, because then you can build behaviors behind that.

    Lesley Logan 17:23

All right. So that was Celeste Holbrook's Episode 85 at the Be It Pod. If you want to go listen to the whole thing.

    Lesley Logan 17:31

Up next, we actually have Episode 139, Cycle Thinking Fitness & Balancing Your Hormones with Jenny Swisher. This is really, so again, we're having hormones, this is a totally different thing. So, we're actually going to be talking more about advocating for yourself, and ladies, but also gents listening, we always have a few good men, we often have been raised that like the doctors know best but really you know your body best and I think that this episode is one of those reminders that you can be your own best doctor and when you know your body best you can actually advocate for yourself and get the best health for yourself but especially for your hormones. And Jenny Swisher is really, I mean, like, what she's been doing since being on the podcast, really helping people understand their hormones, has been pretty epic.

    Brad Crowell 18:19

I just want to say that while we don't know medicine, because we're not doctors and didn't dedicate ourselves to study that there generally is logic behind the medicine. So if you're being given advice that is completely illogical or confusing to you before you just say yeah, let's do it, ask them to explain that further and understand it more. And it's okay to say that doesn't make sense to me.

    Lesley Logan 18:45

We didn't put the clip here. But if you want more, if you're inspired to be an advocate for yourself, definitely listen to Lindsay Miller's episode, Lindsay Moore's episode on, on being an advocate. And I do think, Brad, you make a, bring up a good point, like there is logic to it, but also they have to listen to you, like, they're not, at least in the States, they're not allowed to leave the room until you're done and you say, I have no more questions. And it is a practice. It's called a medical practice, and so they're practicing just like you'd have a Pilates practice, and so it's really, you should not feel ashamed or embarrassed to be like, hmm, I think I'm going to get another opinion on that.

    Brad Crowell 19:25

    Yeah, yeah. That's okay.

    Lesley Logan 19:27

Yeah. So here is Jenny Swisher to inspire you to be your own best doctor.

    Jenny Swisher 19:31

I think you have to be your own best doctor. And I think, but you have to go into the the appointment knowing that, I mean, I don't know about anybody listening, but I know for me, especially after I feel like I'm an expert in sitting in doctor's offices after years of doing it, I felt like I got to the point where they were just going to diagnose or give me whatever I was leading them to. You know what I mean, like you're leading the doctor to the eventual answer. And so the more hormone literate you can become about your own body and your own cycle, for example, and in the case of hormone health, the easier it's going to be for the doctor to make those connections or to really, truly help you. I find that most people don't have the awareness that they need, the self-awareness and the body awareness of their own body to be able to go and get a proper answer from a doctor. And so it starts with that. But then when you are in that situation, when you go into it knowing like, this is how my body is supposed to operate. This is how it's supposed to feel. These are the things that I've learned about hormone health. And I'm not I'm low in energy, or I'm this, or I'm that, then you can go into the appointment and say hey, I think this is how I'm supposed to be feeling. But instead, I feel this way. What are some things that we can look into?

    Lesley Logan 20:35

All right. That was Episode 139, with Jenny Swisher, so you can go and listen to her full episode, if you'd like here in the Be It catalog. Again, this is a round-up of just a few of our favorite health episodes, and we hope that you're enjoying getting just some reminders of some of the epic guests we've had, or maybe we're peaking your interest in a topic that you're wanting to go back and learn more about. All of our guests are pretty amazing. And I can't believe that was like almost 300 episodes ago. Some of these are like 400 episodes ago. So, but also, like, I still take these tips. I still remember these people's tips in my daily life. I reflect back upon them, and so they really meant a lot to me.

    Lesley Logan 21:18

    I'm Lesley Logan.

    Brad Crowell 21:19

    And I'm Brad Crowell.

    Lesley Logan 21:20

    Episode Transcript:

    Lesley Logan 0:00

Hi, Be It babe. Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It interview, not recap, but episodes, recaps.

    Brad Crowell 0:48

    What?

    Lesley Logan 0:49

What? What are we doing here? Well.

    Brad Crowell 0:50

    We're changing it up.

    Lesley Logan 0:51

We're changing it up for December, and we're figuring it out as we go along. But actually, the team has prepared really epic episodes for you for all month long, and today's episode is some of our favorite relationship episodes. So we're actually going to have four different clips for you from some of our favorite guests who have something to say about relationships.

    Brad Crowell 1:09

Yeah, yeah. So we're going to dig in.

    Lesley Logan 1:11

So whether you're single or not, there's actually probably a clip in here for you. And we know that we just, I mentioned this is episode 457, which means there's a couple 100 episodes of interviews, and if you just are joining us now, you might not have listened to all of those. So what our hope is this month is that by clipping some of our favorite parts of different topics, that it might take you to a direct episode that's going to really work with what you need and where you're at. So today's episode is on relationship, but we'll have grief, we'll have divorce, we'll have masculine and feminine energy guests. We actually have one about narcissism. So you know, relationships is a broad topic. So you can be single or in a relationship, and you could be super happy and still have some clip in here that might resonate with you. So here we go.

    Lesley Logan 1:59

All right. Loves our first clip we have for you is from our guest Renee Bauer, back in Episode 217. The topic is on divorce, and one of the parts I really loved, and I want you to hear is about just owning it.

    Brad Crowell 2:11

Yeah and the second part that we really liked in this episode was about finding your tribe. So here we go.

    Renee Bauer 2:23

I had gone on a friend’s podcast and she started, she said, I’m gonna interview you. I’ll bring sushi over. We’ll have a couple martinis. It’ll be all good. So she did that. I’m like, ooh, sushi, okay. I’m in. We poured the martini. She clipped on the mic and she started asking me about my divorce and maybe I was a little buzzed, but I actually started answering really honestly. And when that episode came out, people had reached out to me to say like, hey, that was my story too. Thank you for speaking so vulnerably about it. And that’s when I realized I need to talk about this and not be ashamed about it. And so now, now it’s like, it’s second nature to just, to be like, yeah, I’m divorced twice, so what? You know? And so it was, it was sharing it, and I think so often, People don’t wanna share that. And they’re almost like, apologize. It’s like, you know, the whisper like, oh, I’m divorced, or I’m twice divorced. And it’s like, just own it. Be like, you know what? I was in two relationships that didn’t work out and I made the brave decision to leave that because I wanted more from our family, for us, for our kids.

And you know, that’s okay. Find your tribe. Find a support system that may not include friends and family. So those people who are around you now, they’re really well intentioned, but they may not be the best person to go to. So find a community of people, and there’s so many of them out there in this world, and like, I have a private Facebook group for divorced women, but find a really positive tribe of people who get what you’re going through so you don’t feel so alone in it.

    Lesley Logan 4:00

All right, so now we're going to talk about the topic of grief. And Krista St-Germain from Episode 235, one of the most beautiful episodes we have. Honestly, I actually think about this episode a lot, because we happen to lose people in our lives all the time, but this particular one was about how she lost her spouse, and she talks about the Emotional Freedom Technique. And I think this is a really cool technique that we can all use no matter where we are in our lives. So.

    Brad Crowell 4:25

Yeah, that's EFT, if you're not familiar.

    Lesley Logan 4:27

    Yeah, tap away.

    Krista St-Germain 4:34

This was hard for me because I have lots of ideas, and so I'm just going to go with one. So I'm a big fan of tapping, Emotional Freedom Technique. So thankfully, I had tapping in my pocket before my husband died. I already knew how to do it, and I knew how, and I had used it with my children when they were very little, and they were 12 and nine when Hugo died, so they had to use it for a number of years. But I love tapping because it creates calm in the nervous system and it allows us to let feelings flow through. It's great for grief grenades, right? Any sort of triggering situation where our nervous system is responding as though we are unsafe. So for me, the sound of metal crashing, CPR scenes, sirens, right, things like that. Tapping helped me in the moment when my nervous system was just tripping out. And then it also helped me to work with someone who could help me go back and neutralize those triggers so that when I remembered them or encountered them in my environment, my nervous system stopped thinking I was in danger, right? So I am a big proponent of that. You can just go to YouTube and learn all about tapping, right? You don't have to pay anyone to teach it to you.

    Brad Crowell 5:48

All right, y'all, I hope you found that super helpful and calming. EFT, the tapping technique to be able to pull out that tool and use that when you need it. All right. Next up, we got Episode 268, with Rebecca Zung, we are going to SLAY Your Way Out of a Narcissist. Okay?

    Lesley Logan 6:08

Yeah, I was so, this is like, when I, when Rebecca agreed to be on the pod, I was like, this is amazing. This is what all of our listeners need. And something that I think is, if you love this clip, I really hope you go back and listen to the full episode, because it will give you a lot of empowerment. If you were someone who's like, I always find, narcissists always find me. You will hear why they find you.

    Brad Crowell 6:29

Yeah, and I think there's a key in this, and it's value. And I, this hit home for me in a very real way. So this is a very powerful clip, and the episode is amazing. So here we go.

    Rebecca Zung 6:50

And I always remind people, they don't attach themselves to you because you have so little value. They attach themselves to you because you have so much value, even though they're devaluing you right away. They look for someone who's going to be a great source of supply for them, whether it's making them look good or giving them, you know, their ego looks good, because either with you or they are, you're going to be a great business partner for them because you're going to feed them a lot of things, or you're going to be a great romantic partner because you're either going to give them lots of adulation, or you look good on their arm, or you have lots of money, or whatever it's going to be, right? So they look for someone who's going to feed something within them, because they're so empty inside.

    Lesley Logan 7:51

All right. So that was Episode 268. Definitely go back and listen to that if you find narcissists have been finding you. Our last clip that we want to put in this relationship special is Episode 280, Create More Harmony in Your Relationship, with Kelli Adame Williams. We love Kelli Adame. We had so many people tell us how epic, she had two episodes on the podcast, actually, and I really, really enjoyed it. But the first one was really about kind of giving us permission to understand what we need and who we are, and also what we're saying yes to. So here is Episode 280 with Kelli Adame.

    Kelli Adame 8:41

So I tell women like, this is a good practice, like, don't do something, ask yourself, does this feel good to me? And if it doesn't, the answer is no, thank you. We're also so conditioned to say yes and to just do it. But then we can be resentful about that, then we can be passive aggressive about that. Then we can feel like, well, you owe me because I did this. No, you weren't, you weren't clear with you first. Does that make sense?

    Lesley Logan 9:06

    Oh, yeah.

    Kelli Adame 9:07

That's the whole thing. To be in a healthy relationship, you have to be able to take personal responsibility for your behavior, your actions, your words, but you also have to know what you're feeling.

    Lesley Logan 9:16

Well, I hope this is really fun for you. I know that this is a very different way of the Be It Pod going, but our goal here is to, one, help you figure out which episodes in the past catalog might be helpful for you, but also just highlight some of our favorite takeaways, especially as the end of the year is here, there's so much chaos. You know, sometimes we need reminders of what we learned so we can take that information and take the next steps in our life to be it till we see it.

    Brad Crowell 9:41

Yeah. If you enjoyed this, let us know. We actually need to know. If you dug the change up today.

    Lesley Logan 9:46

Yeah, if you hated it, you can send us a message. If you loved it, you can leave a review. That's your Christmas present to us. Or, or, I heard a podcast say, still give us five stars, but then you can tell us you didn't like it in the review. That's fine, but the five stars is important.

    Brad Crowell 10:05

Well, thanks for listening, y'all and stick around. We've got a couple more fun episodes for you this month that are in a similar vein. Is this right?

    Lesley Logan 10:12

Yeah, we're gonna do our favorite health episodes, and we're gonna do, I think, our business tip ones.

    Brad Crowell 10:12

We got favorite tips, bold moments.

    Lesley Logan 10:22

    Bold moments.

    Brad Crowell 10:23

    Favorite biz Tips.

    Lesley Logan 10:24

You know what? You're just gonna really enjoy.

    Brad Crowell 10:26

    Cool advice.

    Lesley Logan 10:26

    This whole month.

    Brad Crowell 10:27

    It's gonna be good.

    Lesley Logan 10:28

    It's a potpourri.

    Brad Crowell 10:29

Oh, and then we have a special one on the 31st.

    Lesley Logan 10:32

    Oh.

    Brad Crowell 10:33

    Yeah.

    Lesley Logan 10:34

    Okay, can I tell them?

    Brad Crowell 10:35

I think you might as well hint at it at least.

    Lesley Logan 10:37

I already, because I just interviewed them. We're gonna get your astrology reading for 2025 from the Mom & Me Astrologers, Kate and Mary Swick. So do not, don't skip ahead. You can't because it won't go to the 31st, but also, don't wait till it comes out. You gotta listen to all these little round ups we've got for you. I'm Lesley Logan.

    Brad Crowell 10:46

    And I'm Brad Crowell.

    Lesley Logan 10:59

Thank you so much for listening. And until next time, you know what to do, Be It Till You See It.

    Brad Crowell 11:03

    Bye for now.

    Lesley Logan 11:05

    Lesley Logan 0:00

    It's Fuck Yeah Friday.

    Brad Crowell 0:01

    Fuck yeah.

    Lesley Logan 0:02

Get ready for some wins.

    Lesley Logan 0:46

Hello, Be It babe. Happy FYF. That means it is Fuck Yeah Friday.

It is the time of the week where you're supposed to celebrate things. If you haven't started practicing celebrating that all the time. I am actually joined with my co-host, Brad.

    Brad Crowell 0:57

    What? How about that?

    Lesley Logan 0:59

And you know what? One of the wins I have for this year, is I learned how to say your last name.

    Brad Crowell 1:02

Hey, what? That's a good win.

    Lesley Logan 1:04

Didn't even know I was saying it wrong.

    Brad Crowell 1:06

    Only 10 years later.

    Lesley Logan 1:07

Nine. Oh I guess we knew each other, 11.

    Brad Crowell 1:10

    Yeah.

    Lesley Logan 1:11

At any rate, you guys, if this is your first time joining us, what we actually do is we celebrate some wins of yours that you send in and a win of one of ours, and then we end with a mantra, and oh, I got some new cards. I guess I'll get those for the next one, not for this one. But don't worry, you've got a mantra at the end of this. Do not stress. We're just taking you behind the scenes on how this goes down.

    Lesley Logan 1:32

So let's get started with a win of yours. This is from Kristin Salmans. She is a eLevate grad and Agency member, and she wrote. After our eLevate call, Friday, I saw my hypermobile prospect client, put her on the spine corrector, like we discussed, and then took her to the reformer. After a few things there, I decided to put her on the box and use the weights to work on her arm, back connection. It was amazing. When we finished, she said that was hard, and I've done a lot of hard things. That was so hard we found connected. She was so much more open through her neck and her shoulders. She's got homework. Thank you. It's working.

    Brad Crowell 2:07

    Love that.

    Lesley Logan 2:07

I love it too. You know, one of the things that we do with eLevate grads is we have alumni calls that they can join and they can ask questions about their practice or about a client they're working with, and they get feedback and hypermobile, crossfit client isn't normal.

    Brad Crowell 2:21

It is not normal. That's true.

    Lesley Logan 2:22

And so it was just really, really fun. So Kristin, thank you for sharing that with us. All this is to say is like a lot of times you don't have to be a Pilates instructor to have this win. Sometimes we think something should be easier because we're really good at something else. And honestly, what we really have to do is actually go about things a different way, to recognize, oh, I'm not doing it like that. Like Brad's super hypermobile and he has yoga, but when he actually focuses on some of his foundations, he finds that it's really hard and really difficult to do.

    Lesley Logan 2:51

Okay, I have another win I want to share. This one's from Rachel Hines. She actually went on a Cambodia retreat with us over a year ago. She's an agency member, and she wrote, I was extremely sick this week, kept testing negative for COVID and other various things, ended up in an urgent care and basically they said it's just some kind of virus. Anyway, that's not the win part. I have been out of the studio for five whole days, and because of my team, the studio was completely covered. I have an awesome studio manager and great instructors that everything just kept moving. My studio manager took her first official meeting without me. It took time to get to this point, and I've been very particular with hiring and everyone reflects our brand and our mission.

    Brad Crowell 3:27

    That's amazing. Congratulations.

    Lesley Logan 3:29

    Congratulations.

    Brad Crowell 3:30

    That's like the ideal.

    Lesley Logan 3:31

I know, I know, when we met Rachel, you know what a difference a year makes, is what I really actually want to say. And this being the FYFs of December, you kind of want something to happen yesterday, but actually this win is because she has been so consistent with her mission and her values and making sure that the team that she has and that she keeps and that she nurtures is aligned with those. This is why you want to do that. So when you're sick, you're not like 'and these fucking people don't know how to answer an email and respond and handle the studio while I was sick for five days.' So this is why you do it.

    Brad Crowell 4:03

That's amazing. Well, congratulations. That's really exciting.

    Lesley Logan 4:03

Yeah, Brad, do you want to take this week's win? Or I could do it.

    Brad Crowell 4:08

I do want to take this week's win. Well, I'm gonna piggyback off of Rachel. We had a similar experience that made me feel so calm and excited about the team that we built when Lesley and I were out of town hosting our Cambodia retreat. We also launched the tour, the winter tour, and it was incredible because it was not possible for us to participate in it, other than maybe making a post on social but we literally didn't even have to do that. We've gone through this a handful of times. They've created a system, and they were able to replicate the system and successfully, because we sold out three locations on the very first day of the launch, and I'm pretty sure we were asleep in, you know, on the other side of the world, so.

    Lesley Logan 4:59

Yeah, all I did was accept, you did it. I was like, I had to go to sleep. You're gonna be up for an hour. If this comes through, you need to accept the Instagram post. And that was all we had to do while we're halfway across the world. It was freaking awesome.

    Brad Crowell 5:13

So I couldn't agree more, Rachel, it is a absolutely joy-filled moment when you're like, oh, wow. It's possible for me to step away and the wheels stay on the bus, not only that, but taking a client meeting without you, that's progressing the business forward. So that's incredible.

    Lesley Logan 5:30

Yeah, yeah. I think it's hard to see some of these wins until you're sick, or until there's an obstacle or like this thing. We don't often give ourselves time to test things, and so it's like, you just gotta know that you're ready. You know, I was just watching a workshop, and she said, the reason why we do Pilates is so that if you're in the ocean and a shark comes up, your body knows how to twist and turn and swim faster and use your legs and use your arm and get up, and you can beat the shark because, but you wouldn't ever test that on, like, willingly.

    Brad Crowell 6:02

No, that's quite a scenario. You're making me go.

    Lesley Logan 6:06

I know. Did you get stressed out? Okay, let's do it with the mantra. Okay. When I focus on my reason for being, I am infinitely brave. When I focus on my reason for being, I am infinitely brave.

    Brad Crowell 6:20

    There you go. Yeah.

    Lesley Logan 6:21

When I focus on my reason for being, I am infinitely brave. Yeah, you are.

    Brad Crowell 6:26

When I focus on my reason for being, I am infinitely brave.

    Lesley Logan 6:29

Yeah, I feel like we're trying out for auditioning for a (inaudible).

    Brad Crowell 6:33

    When I focus.

    Lesley Logan 6:36

On my reason for being, I'm infinitely brave. All right, loves, you know what to do until next time, Be It Till You See It.

    Lesley Logan 6:46

    Bye for now.

    Lesley Logan 6:48

I like that she did this. I like that she trained like this. I think it's really inspirational. You guys don't have to be into fitness to do this. You can actually think, what could I commit to over a period of time that would challenge me in my comfort zone and just be okay with giving it a try? What could I do?

    Lesley Logan 0:16

Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started.

    Lesley Logan 0:58

Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It interview recap where my co-host in life, Brad, and I

are going to dig into the impactful convo I had with Kelsey Lensman in our last episode. If you haven't yet listened to that episode, you've missed out on a really fun chick. She is cool as fuck. I really enjoyed her. So you can go back and listen that one, come back and listen to this one. You can listen to this one. You're already here and then go back and listen to that one.

    Lesley Logan 1:18

But first, Today is December 5th 2024 and it's Celebrate Shelter Pets Day. We're just going to celebrate shelter pets? You should go adopt a shelter pet today.

    Brad Crowell 1:28

That's exactly what this is all about.

    Lesley Logan 1:30

Celebrate Shelter Pets Day is on the first Thursday after Thanksgiving. The day brings awareness to pets such as dogs and cats that are in shelters. A lot of people often think of adopting a pet from a shelter home, but they don't always follow through that thought, because they think there's somethingwrong with shelter pets. They are wrong. Most people who have adopted shelter pets can testify that shelter groups are full of great pets that provide companionship. There are, unfortunately, some pets in the shelter that are deemed unadoptable because of fear, perceived aggression or anxiety. But even these issues can be managed if addressed properly. Did you know it takes a dog three days to relax in the stress of being in a shelter. Then it takes three weeks for them to understand your routine, and then by three months, they are fully in your family. So y'all who are buying pretty dogs who you're trying to convince me it's because your allergies. They come with their own problems, too. In fact, a lot of purebreds have a lot of problems. So we highly recommend a little mix of a mutt of some kind. They're super fun. Also, some of these shelter dogs are being fostered in a home. You can also find out right away if they're good with kids or dogs, because the shelters find this out. So when I follow all the local animal adopted in Las Vegas, and they'll go Duchess. She's a tripod, super great with kids who are gentle, not good with other dogs. She needs to be your only Duchess in the house. There's a really, they know these things.

    Brad Crowell 2:51

They're trying to set these dogs up for success.

    Lesley Logan 2:52

Yeah. And when you buy a dog, you don't know. You don't know. You don't know. You have no idea what that puppy's gonna be like. You don't know. So we highly recommend it.

    Brad Crowell 3:01

    We've done that.

    Lesley Logan 3:02

We all, Bayon was at a kill shelter.

    Brad Crowell 3:04

Yeah, Gaia, I rescued her. She wasn't from a shelter, but Bayon was at a kill shelter.

    Lesley Logan 3:06

Before you rescued her, she'd been rescued from another shelter. Look at that dog had been handed over three different families by the time you had gotten her, and she was great.

    Brad Crowell 3:18

Yeah, four paperwork with four different owners names, yeah. And then August was also in a shelter here in Vegas.

    Lesley Logan 3:23

Yeah. And he, you know, he took his time (inaudible).

    Brad Crowell 3:26

Pretty sure they were not a kill shelter here in Vegas, but still, (inaudible) shelter.

    Lesley Logan 3:28

No, no. So anyways, go find out. If you are unsure of what to do. You can also foster a dog that you think you might like, and then foster fail. Or if you're like, wow, you know, this isn't working out. That's not what I thought. Then you just fostered, and you did, and also, when they're outside of the shelter, they're less stressed out, and they have a lot less fear. So I highly recommend it. Yeah, it's a holiday. Yeah, you're busy. You know what? Cuddling with a dog makes everything better right now, I've been (inaudible).

    Lesley Logan 3:29

Upcoming events. We're going back to Cambodia. Well, actually, when you hear this, we're literally on the road for the tour. So I'm just going to say that.

    Brad Crowell 3:59

    Well, yeah but

    Lesley Logan 4:00

We're on the road for the tour.

    Brad Crowell 4:02

That's the fourth announcement. So, sure.

    Lesley Logan 4:07

Okay, got it. When we, but soon, we'll be back in Cambodia. And many of you have asked if you could move there. We highly recommend you visiting with us before you ask to move into our house at Cambodia. So yes, we have a house there. You get to stay with us. Go to crowsnestretreats.com to snag your spot in February. I know it's around the corner, but we go at the end of February, so plenty of time to snag your spot.

    Brad Crowell 4:28

Yeah, and the end of (inaudible), yeah, you can't apply for your visa yet. It's too soon, and still plenty of time to get your plane tickets. So come join us. And like Lesley said, I would recommend coming in and hanging out first before you decide to move permanently. But if you wanted to move permanently, I'm sure you could figure that out too.

    Lesley Logan 4:46

Yeah, while you're there, you could just stay. They do have rules around that, so you can't just stay. But there's ways around it, all right? There's ways to figure it out. I've only been home for a few days, since the shoot for the Accessories Flash Card Deck. Last deck in the six-deck series of Pilates exercises, we just did it, and it's not our biggest deck, it's not our smallest deck, it's right there in the middle. We want to make sure it's extra affordable to add to your collection. And only those on the waitlist are going to get the presale price. What's the presale price? Well, it's the best price you'll ever get on the deck. So you want to go to opc.me/flashcardwaitlist. I don't know why that's so hard for me to say multiple times, but opc.me/ maybe it's the slash.

    Brad Crowell 5:30

    It's the slash, flash.

    Lesley Logan 5:31

    Flash, flashcard waitlist, yes.

    Brad Crowell 5:36

    opc.me/flashcardwaitlist.

    Lesley Logan 5:37

Yeah. And it's free to be on the list but you all just had to buy your cards when you're ready. When we have the presale, don't miss it. If you are late, it's too late.

    Brad Crowell 5:45

All right. So I've been doing accelerator webinars this year, and it's been great. We've had, I mean, I don't know, hundreds of people go through them over the last couple of months, and it's been really nice to get people thinking, challenging them a little bit, and also sharing some of the things that we've learned after coaching more than 2000 businesses about how to make money with your studio and how to double your income, literally. But that's it for this year, because we're obviously on the road right now. I'd love to host them, but I can't trust the internet when we're, I don't even know where we'll be.

    Lesley Logan 6:16

    Time zones. You know, dogs.

    Brad Crowell 6:18

Time zones, everything. It's complicated. So I'll be picking them back up again next year, and I absolutely encourage you to come join me. It's free. So go to prfit.biz/accelerator. That's profit without the O, dot biz slash accelerator. And that'll help you. If you're feeling stuck in your business at all, this is going to help get the ball rolling for you. So come join me next year. I'd love to have you.

    Lesley Logan 6:39

Yeah, and then we're on tour. It starts.

    Brad Crowell 6:43

    Tomorrow. Literally, tomorrow.

    Lesley Logan 6:44

Tomorrow, the first of 22 cities starts tomorrow.

    Brad Crowell 6:48

But we're already on the road as it stands right now. We left a couple days early, just to.

    Lesley Logan 6:52

We stayed at Don Hoel's cabin.

    Brad Crowell 6:55

    Don Hoel.

    Lesley Logan 6:56

    Don Hoel.

    Brad Crowell 6:57

     Don Hoel. H-O-E-L in Sedona.

    Lesley Logan 7:02

Yep and we're super close to that our favorite coffee shop in Sedona (inaudible)

    Brad Crowell 7:07

Indian Gardens. Yeah, that's a, that place is amazing. But we'll be down in Cottonwood teacher class, and then we head off to Oklahoma City.

    Lesley Logan 7:16

Oklahoma City. Then it is Atlanta?

    Brad Crowell 7:19

    Huntsville.

    Lesley Logan 7:20

Oh, Huntsville, Alabama. Alabama is before Atlanta.

    Brad Crowell 7:22

    Yep. And then we're gonna.

    Lesley Logan 7:24

I know the globe. I know it. I'm gonna.

    Brad Crowell 7:25

We're gonna pit stop in Nashville to hang with a couple friends before we go down to Atlanta where we teach.

    Lesley Logan 7:30

Oh, yeah, I got it up now. I got the dates, all right. Then we go to Greensboro, North Carolina. Then we're in DC. I'm gonna tell you this as of the time we're recording this, Huntsville is super sold. It's been so fucking sold out you can't, do not pass go. Meet us in Atlanta. Greensboro then we have Washington DC, that's super sold out both workshops and or both classes and workshops.

    Brad Crowell 7:52

For those in Washington DC, you can swing around the bay and join us in Virginia Beach later or you can go north to Hershey.

    Lesley Logan 8:00

Hold on, stick around. You'll find out where we're going next.

    Lesley Logan 8:02

So Hershey, Pennsylvania, at the time recording this has one spot in the class, and the workshop is almost sold out. Then we're going to Portland Maine. Then we're coming back down to Boston, Massachusetts, only room in the workshop there. Cape Cod, Massachusetts, only room in the workshop there. Greenwich, Connecticut. We have a mat class. Virginia Beach, you can, that's for those DC people, you can come around to the Virginia Beach, there'e spot in the workshop.

    Brad Crowell 8:25

I mean, it's a three-hour drive, I think, for them, from DC. But, come join.

    Lesley Logan 8:27

Whatever. Those Virginia Beach people drove down to Greensboro, it's like seven hours or something.

    Brad Crowell 8:32

So here's what's crazy y'all. Last year we were in Greensboro, and five people drove from Virginia Beach to Greensboro, which is five plus hours drive. And this year we decided to go to them. So, you know, come surprise us. Come hang out. We are, we love your enthusiasm. Come and hang.

    Lesley Logan 8:48

We're going to Charleston, South Carolina, then Miami, last class of the of the year of 2024, but not the tour. Then we head up to Tampa, Florida, Pensacola, Florida, which, at the time we're recording this, I think it's, someone just bought all the tickets.

    Brad Crowell 9:04

I think the workshop has like.

    Lesley Logan 9:05

    I think it's sold out.

    Brad Crowell 9:07

    That's it. Sold out.

    Lesley Logan 9:07

    There's room in the class.

    Brad Crowell 9:08

    Yeah, room in the class.

    Lesley Logan 9:09

New Orleans, that class has been sold out. But you, at the time we're recording this, had three spots left in your workshop. I don't think that that's gonna last. Austin, Texas, we are coming back. Your class is sold out, but there are room, there is room in the workshops because Aligned Pilates has such a huge space, which is really, really nice. Dallas, Texas, that class is sold out, but there's room in the workshop Lubbock, Texas and then Phoenix, Arizona. That's where we're ending. Class is sold out, but a few spots left in the workshop. You guys, this tour is more than 50% sold out at the time we're recording this, which is three weeks before we start, which means this is going to be huge. It's going to be a party.

    Brad Crowell 9:45

It is going to be a party.

    Lesley Logan 9:46

You don't want to miss it. And also, if you haven't seen the merch.

    Brad Crowell 9:48

She has good merch. I was just gonna say that.

    Lesley Logan 9:53

    opc.me/tourmerch

    Brad Crowell 9:54

Yeah. Go to opc.me/tourmerch our designer made us look like we are, rock stars.

    Lesley Logan 9:59

    Rappers.

    Brad Crowell 10:00

Yeah, we're in a band looking awesome.

    Lesley Logan 10:02

Yeah, it's so great. I'm gonna, I'm obviously bringing the pink coat on this tour. We can't leave it behind, you know. Anyways, before we get into the episode, we had a question from someone on YouTube.

    Brad Crowell 10:14

Yeah, we totally did. So Pie and Lattes on YouTube asked hey, "Is there a secret to reducing spring noise on a [Pilates] chair?"

    Lesley Logan 10:26

Yeah. So first of all, all equipment like Cadillac tower type stuff, those can make noise. Even some of the springs on the reformer can make some noise. I haven't really had that as much of an issue as for sure, the tower and the Wunda chair. Here's what I've noticed. When it gets colder, my chair makes different noises.

    Brad Crowell 10:44

    Oh, that's interesting.

    Lesley Logan 10:44

There's a weather situation to it. The other thing is, if you get some 3-IN-ONE and you put it on a cloth, and then you take the cloth and you wipe the inside of the ringlet that the hooks are on.

    Brad Crowell 10:45

    Oh, sure.

    Lesley Logan 10:45

That kind of oils it up.

    Brad Crowell 10:51

Because the spring is kind of sliding (inaudible).

    Lesley Logan 11:02

Yeah. So it's just metal on metal. So you just take some 3-IN-ONE, and you.

    Brad Crowell 11:05

    What is 3-IN-ONE?

    Lesley Logan 11:06

I don't, it's like an oil. So honestly, okay, do not try this without talking to your manufacturer. But one like.

    Brad Crowell 11:13

Oh, yeah, it's just an oil.

    Lesley Logan 11:14

She didn't want to go buy 3-IN-ONE, so she just took olive oil and she just sprayed it on her chair hooks. And that's fine, too. I think it don't, I wouldn't spray on the springs, but on the hook.

    Brad Crowell 11:24

    I mean, a bottle of 3-IN-ONE is 3.79.

    Lesley Logan 11:28

Yeah. So you're take, so I saw this guy, he just sprayed it on the eye hook of things, but then it kind of like, didn't drip, but it cuddled on the eye hook. So I honestly, just douse a towel and I wipe the inside. And if you and I only really have to do that in the cold season, I don't really need to do it on the (inaudible). I don't know. I think it depends on where you are, but that's how you do it. And then the other thing you can do is actually change how the hooks, not every chair lets you do this, but some chairs let you, like my Contrology chair, I can share, I can change which way the hooks kind of open up a little bit. So I can.

    Brad Crowell 12:04

    Just twist it.

    Lesley Logan 12:05

I can just twist it just a little bit. And sometimes that also just that also helps. So check your weather. Maybe warm up your house a little bit also, I'm not saying make your house humid, but have a humidifier in there that can also just keep things feeling really good, you know, like, one of those little store ones not gonna rust your springs, like you're in Maui or something like that. But that's what I would suggest you do. And if you're like, What is a Wunda chair, what is 3-IN-ONE? Hi, I'm Lesley Logan. Welcome to the podcast. We answer random questions here. I am a wealth of knowledge.

    Brad Crowell 12:06

And humble too. If you have a question, feel free to text it to us, 310-905-5534, text us and just say hey, question for the pod, or you can send us a voicemail on Instagram or whatever. Yeah. Anyway, love it. Love the questions. Keep them coming. Thank you very much. Stick around. We're going to be talking about, how can somebody do 48 competitions, fitness competitions in 48 days, in just a minute.

    Brad Crowell 13:03

Okay. Welcome back. Okay. Kelsey Lensman is a nutrition, fitness and mindset coach with expertise in sports medicine and training techniques, a former Ohio State rower. Kelsey founded, Xpand Your Limits, to empower women to reach their strongest, most confident selves. Known for her Mission48 journey, completing 48 fitness competitions in 48 states, over 48 days. Kelsey is passionate about helping others step out of their comfort zones, do hard things and discover what they are truly capable of.

    Lesley Logan 13:36

Can you imagine, this is not like she did 48 Iron Mans not that it's easy to train for that, but you know what to expect. You know how to train for that. Like we talked about the podcast, there was just, like, random things that she was doing. And so you're.

    Brad Crowell 13:48

Yeah. So you're not necessarily fully trained for all the things all the time.

    Lesley Logan 13:51

But I love this, because you're doing the best you can. If you can't go, I'm not going to do that. It's like, No, you set to do 48 things in 48 days. And so I love the commitment. I love the willingness to be bad at something. I'm not that she is could be bad anything. The girl is so fucking strong, it's annoying, but like,

    Brad Crowell 14:08

But also the perseverance, the determination, the consistency. I mean, I also, I don't know if she, she must have had somebody drive around, whether she.

    Lesley Logan 14:16

She had to fly 48 states in 48 days. I know that the East Coast is close together, but you can't even get through California to Oregon on the same day.

    Brad Crowell 14:26

Yeah, no, you can't, but it's possible they just drove all night. She slept.

    Lesley Logan 14:31

    Kelsey, we want to know.

    Brad Crowell 14:31

We want to know if you (inaudible) we didn't ask that question. But that's a, that curiosity.

    Lesley Logan 14:38

She also filmed the whole thing just like a documentary.

    Brad Crowell 14:40

Oh, that's really cool. That's smart. That's a great, so then she clearly didn't do it alone. She definitely had a team.

    Lesley Logan 14:45

So then she had a camera on. Oh my gosh. Can you imagine? You're like, I feel like fit today, and now I've got to go rucksack something and crawl on my arms and like, rucking, and my elbows, and rucking me.

    Brad Crowell 14:56

    Just gotta rucksack this one.

    Lesley Logan 14:58

But I also love that she said you gotta be ready for the curveballs. And I think what's really cool about what she did is, like, how great it is to train your mind and body that you can kind of handle what's coming at you. And I think a lot of times we get stuck in our ways, and a lot of us are feeling a little overwhelmed, but like, all the curveballs come in our way, and we're like, we're not kind of able to roll with it, (inaudible) on some things. But I like that she did this. I like that she trained like this. I think it's really inspirational. You guys don't have to be into fitness to do this. You can actually think like, what could I commit to over a period of time that would challenge me in my comfort zone and just be okay with giving it a try? What could I do?

    Brad Crowell 15:35

Yeah, I was just, it was called Project 48 right? Oh Mission48, Mission48 because I was wondering, did she what?

    Lesley Logan 15:42

I don't think the documentary is out as of this.

    Brad Crowell 15:46

So I was thinking, why did she do it? And she said on her website, it says, I'm on a mission to complete 48 competitions in 48 states in 48 days to inspire women and girls to step out of their comfort zones and show themselves they are stronger than they think. So it doesn't seem like she got paid to do this.

    Lesley Logan 16:03

No, no, she did not. She paid.

    Brad Crowell 16:05

In fact, she had to pay to do this.

    Lesley Logan 16:05

She had to pay all these things. Pay the team. That's the other thing that I think is really interesting. I was talking about this with Michele Wispelway from the first longevity episode, we were (inaudible) live today, and she was talking how she trained for a half marathon. And, you know, she's older, and when she used to run, it used to hurt her, and now it doesn't, because now she like, prepared herself for these things. And she's like, yeah, I want to show my daughter, and I want to show the women around me that just because I'm older doesn't mean I can't do this. I'm just going to reside myself. I can never run again. And I think, like, it's cool what Kelsey is doing and other people, you might even be doing. It's like putting yourself into a position where you're uncomfortable, and then tell people about it so that they can be inspired. And if your first reaction is, must be nice for Kelsey, you need to understand, that is the worst, if you are, if you've been programmed to say that, I'm going to call it programming, because I do think that someone told you that in your family, and then you've been repeating it, you ask yourself, oh, I wonder how you did that. How did you set the time aside? How did you afford to do that? What were something, like, be curious, because then you can find out, like, oh, they invested a lot of time. They invest a lot of money. This is a big risk, but it was part of the impact they wanted to make.

    Brad Crowell 17:21

Yeah, and it looks like she partnered up with ROX, Ruling Our Experiences. It's a 501c(3) that develops confident girls who control their own relationships, experiences, decisions and futures. So it's a developing confident girls. So I just pulled up her full map for the event, and.

    Lesley Logan 17:39

She skipped California and did Alaska.

    Brad Crowell 17:41

    I was just.

    Lesley Logan 17:42

I'm joking. I don't know. I don't have it in front of me. Wouldn't that be funny? She was like, it's too long.

    Brad Crowell 17:47

No, no, it's every state in the United States contiguous states. So she skipped Alaska and Hawaii, those are the two she skipped. Otherwise, she did all 48 contiguous states, you know, like, I know we said 48 states in 48 days but looking at them

    Lesley Logan 18:04

Do you, like, think she repeated Florida or something? What do you think happened?

    Brad Crowell 18:08

She just went between Georgia and Florida 24 times in each state. 48 states, 48 days.

    Lesley Logan 18:13

That's the most boring drive. I would die.

    Brad Crowell 18:17

No, she went from, like, Pennsylvania, she went from Pensacola to Mobile, Alabama, just like.

    Lesley Logan 18:21

Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.

    Brad Crowell 18:23

    No, no, no, no, no.

    Lesley Logan 18:24

And by the way, Florida, I don't hate you. It's just you gotta be honest with you gotta (inaudible) is pretty boring and windy.

    Brad Crowell 18:31

Yeah, and windy, and windy. But no, it's impressive to see all the pins on the map she has on her site. Anyway, impressive. Incredible. Go Kelsey. So I really loved when she was talking about courage. She stressed that courage in the pursuit is something that you should be so damn proud of, right? Just think about for every one of you who has decided to change your career and teach Pilates instead of do whatever you want to college for because none of us went to college to teach Pilates, right? Or maybe you decided that.

    Lesley Logan 19:01

There are a few people who got their Pilates certification out of college. It does happen.

    Brad Crowell 19:05

It is real? That can happen? I mean, kinesiology, I can understand, or, like.

    Lesley Logan 19:09

(inaudible) community college, or people became a PT, if you're like Brad and I and you went to college for a degree that you technically don't use, and paid a ton of money for it.

    Brad Crowell 19:21

Or for those of you who were teaching somewhere and decided to venture out on your own and open your own space, there are so many variables and so many unknowns, and we try to support everyone that we can through Profitable Pilates with those kinds of decisions in our industry. But still, it's a scary thing, right? And for Kelsey, I mean, just think about that, could you do 48 things in 48 days, let alone compete?

    Lesley Logan 19:45

I would say, in my 30s, not a problem. In my 30s, if you and I had done the a 30 day, a 40 day tour, or something like that, I would be like, that sounds so fun.

    Brad Crowell 19:57

Babe, you're not a day older than 29 What are you talking about?

    Lesley Logan 19:59

Yeah, but I will say currently, today, I could do every other day for 48 days, or I could do five day and I just, here's what.

    Brad Crowell 20:10

    Needs some days off.

    Lesley Logan 20:10

I think. And also, let me just, let me just caveat this, I probably could have done her thing, the competition thing. Not that I would like to go rucking.

    Brad Crowell 20:20

    Rucksacking?

    Lesley Logan 20:20

Yeah, doesn't mean I'll crawl my hands and elbows, but like, probably could have been physically active 48 days in 48 states. I think for me, what I just why, I think I (inaudible) is like, I'm pouring into people. I'm leading the things for 48 that I could do. But if I was to, could I read a book, one book a day for 48 days? I could do that.

    Brad Crowell 20:39

    Of course, of course.

    Lesley Logan 20:40

Could I participate in the competition?

    Brad Crowell 20:42

No, I think it's about the physicality, is what I meant. Anyway, the reality is, it's a scary thought. There's a lot of unknowns.

    Lesley Logan 20:48

    She's now doing 100-mile.

    Brad Crowell 20:50

That's and she's actually running on the second to last day of the year, or the last day of the year, can't remember, but we should all wish her luck, y'all on on the IG.

    Lesley Logan 20:58

(inaudible) we were squishy. We're cheering you on, and we're so excited you're doing this.

    Brad Crowell 21:02

But she's talking about something being, you know, be proud of yourself to even pursue it. It takes courage. And so she said, the courage in the pursuit is something you should be so damn proud of. Courage in continual persistence is something to be proud of from a daily standpoint.

    Lesley Logan 21:17

Yeah, I think that that's worth rehearing from her and us, were you saying the courage and the pursuit of something you should be just so damn proud of? I think we all have been, maybe not all, but I there's that importance of winning. If you don't win, you've lost, and I think that can hurt really. It can sting really bad when you work so hard for playing, but really, actually just in attempting something and trying and putting yourself out there and putting yourself an experience that's not something everyone is doing, and being proud of what you actually did do is really, really cool, and you can actually learn from that, versus being obsessed with a failure, you don't learn from anything like judging yourself or being hard on yourself. I know we talked about it in the episode. I'm almost positive, but there is a hormone that actually you get even from just the pursuit of doing something, not the completion of it.

    Brad Crowell 22:04

    Oh, okay.

    Lesley Logan 22:05

You actually get dopamine from the pursuit.

    Brad Crowell 22:07

Oh, yeah, yeah. We talked about this today or yesterday.

    Lesley Logan 22:11

Yeah, yeah. You actually get dopamine from the pursuit. And so you don't actually have.

    Brad Crowell 22:17

    That's the journey.

    Lesley Logan 22:18

Yeah, it's all about the you know that cliche, even your body cares about that cliche. So, yeah, I think I don't know she's really cool. Makes me want to do, I won't do 48 things in 48 days, but I will do something that challenged me outside my comfort zone in 2025

    Brad Crowell 22:33

All right, well stick around. We're going to cover those, be it action items, in just a minute.

    Brad Crowell 22:37

All right, so finally, let's talk about those. Be It Action Items. What bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your convo with Kelsey Lensman?

    Lesley Logan 22:48

    Why don't you go first?

    Brad Crowell 22:49

Okay, I'll go first this time. For those of you who don't know what she's laughing at she's laughing at me.

    Lesley Logan 22:55

There'll be a blooper. You can hear it at the end.

    Brad Crowell 22:57

There might be a blooper at the end. All right, here we go. So she said, hey, you have to say no to some things, even if the people-pleaser in you would have said yes. Okay? And so she was talking about when she made the decision to, well, do the 48 in 48 in 48 that causes you to make a change, because now you have to be hyper aware of some things, and you have to make sure you're getting enough sleep. You have to make sure all the things so you're going to change a lot in the short term to get that long term goal. So you have to be willing to say no to some things, even if you are a people pleaser.

    Lesley Logan 23:32

You know what's really cool? There's a book called Stop Pleasing out there the world, y'all, and I think if that Be It Action Item is something like, oh, I don't know if I could do it. Then there's a, there's some reading material to go along with it. Because I agree, you have to be able to say no to things. Otherwise you can't do the 48 in 48. You can't even. Like, it's some people like, they want to read more. I had everyone asked the other day, babe, you and I, like, (inaudible) to all of our books that we really love. And people were like, please distract me. What should I read? And we're like, here's 17,000 books. And like, how do you have time? And it's like, what? You gotta say no to the things that do not lift you up. You know?

    Brad Crowell 24:07

Yeah. So she talked about enforcing boundaries and how that contributed to her development. Allowed her to prioritize her goal over pleasing others. It enabled her to build a stronger, more focused mindset around the 48 for 48. And I think there still needs to be some kind of a reward, even though the journey does give you dopamine, there still needs to be some kind of celebration at the end, after you complete this goal, this big goal. But, you know, I think that boundaries are hard, so we get that. But she said you just have to be really focused on where you're going, where you're headed.

    Lesley Logan 24:39

    Yeah, yeah. Yeah.

    Brad Crowell 24:40

    What about you?

    Lesley Logan 24:41

Sign up for something that scares the crap out of you.

    Brad Crowell 24:44

    Oh, I love that.

    Lesley Logan 24:44

Yeah. So you don't have to do what she did, but find something that scares you. I've talked about it before on the pod, but just in case you forgot, on my 40th birthday, I went to the circus place. Is that what we were talking about, did I talk about it in this episode?

    Brad Crowell 24:56

Yes, you were talking about it with her.

    Lesley Logan 24:57

Well, if you didn't listen to it, I did that, and it was. I was like, oh, my God, it's so embarrassing. And also, it was so great, right? I probably should go try the trapeze, but I will never let go of that trapeze like stuck in the middle, off to crawl across the net. Anyways. But.

    Brad Crowell 25:15

Well, side note, you mentioned that it's a 40,000 square foot facility, and you said Brad will probably correct me, so I went to their website, okay? Because I was now very curious, and then I literally

    Lesley Logan 25:25

Anyone who had not listened to that episode, I was talking about this huge circus school.

    Brad Crowell 25:29

It's called The Circus Center, Las Vegas Circus Center.

    Lesley Logan 25:32

And it's not 40,000 square feet, babe, how many square feet?

    Brad Crowell 25:35

    It's 52,000 square feet.

    Lesley Logan 25:38

52,000 square feet. He had a call, and they gave it to him.

    Brad Crowell 25:40

    It is massive.

    Lesley Logan 25:41

And then that made me go what's the rent on 52,000 square feet?

    Brad Crowell 25:46

It's a warehouse. It's like a huge warehouse but all done up on the inside.

    Lesley Logan 25:51

Does anyone get, does anyone get rentals for under $1 a square foot?

    Brad Crowell 25:54

There has to be, it has to be.

    Lesley Logan 25:55

    It has to be.

    Brad Crowell 25:56

No way that the rent is 50 grand a month.

    Lesley Logan 25:58

    There's no way. 50 grand a month.

    Brad Crowell 25:58

    No way. Yeah, that's insane.

    Lesley Logan 26:01

Anyways, it's really cool. You should all check it out if you're into that kind of stuff. And they have stuff for all ages, but sign up for something that scares the crap out of you. I love that this episode is coming out at the end of, towards the end of this year, before it's our last, is it our last interview before we have all of our special episodes? I think it might be.

    Brad Crowell 26:16

It might be, let me check that.

    Lesley Logan 26:18

I think coming up is a bunch of, like, really cool episode that we've got for you, I guess we should explain what that's going to be.

    Brad Crowell 26:23

Yeah. Oh, we did an intro on the next episode.

    Lesley Logan 26:26

Yeah. So what I hope you do as the rest of December comes up is like, notice what intrigues you. Notice what you're like, oh, I could never do that. And then ask yourself, well, what if I did? And then she said, show up and endure the process, and learn a lot about yourself in the process of it. So grab a journal and write, or even on your notes on your phone. I feel really anxious right now. And then, after you do it, write down how you feel. Give it a try, because you're going to learn so many things about yourself. And every time we go on tour, even though the tour itself is something we've done before, because every tour is unique, we're in different cities all the time. There's different things. We're always reflected, always learning about myself. I'm like, oh, wow, I don't do well if I don't get this kind of sleep, or if I didn't get this kind of workout, or oh, if this happens, I need this. And so you learn about yourself, and so you get better every single time you do something that's kind of being it till you see it. Really, that's what it is. Do something that scares the crap out of you and learn about yourself as you do it.

    Brad Crowell 27:23

Yeah, I love it. I was thinking about that. What is it that scares the crap out of me that I always hesitated to do?

    Lesley Logan 27:29

    A consistent Pilates practice.

    Brad Crowell 27:32

Terrified. Well, I was thinking, you know, I've jumped out of planes and I haven't jumped off a building, but, you know, I've like, I don't know, swam in the ocean and stuff, things that can really mess with your head and I.

    Lesley Logan 27:44

All of those things scare me every time we get into the open water of the ocean. I'm like.

    Brad Crowell 27:48

But I did recently do something that scared the crap out of me. I went knocking on doors, canvassing, for this last election. I've always been willing to make phone calls and send text messages and donate money. But I've never been willing to go actually knock on doors. And I decided to I was going to go do that. And to be honest, at first, I was kind of worried. I didn't really know what I was getting into. And they partnered me up with someone who didn't have a vehicle because she had flown into Nevada to participate and she didn't have a car, so I did, and so we kind of became a pair, but she then had her flight home during my last shift that I signed up for, so I was then knocking on doors by myself. And then Daylight Savings Time happened. So it was dark at like 4:35pm and I was like, it's not even that late, but it's feels so dark right now. And then I was knocking on doors in people's neighborhood in the dark. And I was like, this is probably not that wise, but it was actually I what I found was I had only one person yell at me, and I knocked on almost 150 doors, and she answered the door anyway, and then got hissy and was frustrated, but it was actually really cool to just meet people, and I feel proud of myself for doing it, for being willing to do it, even though it's something that yeah, that actually scared me.

    Lesley Logan 29:05

Yeah, yeah. I think that's really cool. I think a lot of people did a lot of things this last election that were probably outside of what they normally do. And I think to go back to what she said at the beginning, which is, it's gotta be ready for curveballs, and you've got to have the courage and the pursuit of something you should be so damn proud. And so for all of you, we had so many listeners add Brad who were like, Brad was not a first time participant in helping people vote and understand how to vote, but a lot of you reached out like, this is the first time you got involved in the election, and you were really trying hard, and it was such a disappointment.

    Brad Crowell 29:40

    Yeah. It was.

    Lesley Logan 29:43

I'm still not over it, but you have to know what you did really does matter. Did matter, and it's just the start of it. And you learn something about yourself. You learn about what it took to do those things. You learned that you had the courage to step out and tell people like this is what I care about and this is why you should care about it. And have you looked at this? That is not easy to do. Most people just sit there and take it. And some of you just went through Thanksgiving sitting there having to take it, and some of you are thinking about the hell you're gonna do it at Christmas, and may I suggest you don't. But also you can stand up for yourself, and you can say what you believe, and you can say what matters to you and what you're proud of, and you can have a different opinion without being antagonistic, and you can hold space for other people. And Brad talked on over 150 homes, and only had one person get hissy about it. That's kind of.

    Brad Crowell 30:35

And they were all 100% strangers. I kept wondering if I was going to bump into somebody that I knew. No. Didn't happen.

    Lesley Logan 30:41

We don't know that many people.

    Brad Crowell 30:46

    The statistics are not there.

    Lesley Logan 30:48

I know. Could you imagine what if I knocked on the doors? And they're like, aren't you a Pilates instructor? Anyways, I think this is a great last interview of the year. It's technically not we have one more coming up.

    Brad Crowell 31:01

    The 10th is the new.

    Lesley Logan 31:03

Yes, but the last Tuesday of the year.

    Brad Crowell 31:06

    Oh, yeah, we do.

    Lesley Logan 31:07

We're getting your astrological readings for Pluto into Aquarius and Uranus into Scorpio. And if all of that sounds like gibberish to you, do not worry. We'll explain it all, and we hit everyone's sun signs, and we have the best time doing it. And between Kelsey and Mom & Me Astrology, I feel like we're ready to take on, well, I'm not ready, but we can. We can take on 2025. Plus, okay, you're gonna hear it on the next episode, but we have gone through all 400 and something episodes, and just the interviews, really, and pulled out some of our favorite parts when it comes to relationships or work or bold moments or tips, whatever, and we've put them in episodes, and they're not long. And hopefully, what this does is remind you of episodes either you haven't heard in a long time or you haven't heard yet, and gives you something to do this holiday season. If you feel like an alien in your family, we see you. And when you have air pods in your ears, you can say you're on a work call, and you can go work man, and you just, I gotta listen. And you can just sit there and listen. And you can be in your own world, getting bored into, whether or not you're in a place that feels like you're (inaudible). So I hope this helps. I hope maybe you can share those with a friend to help them, like have a potpourri of Be It interviews to hear about.

    Brad Crowell 32:26

Yeah, absolutely. Well, thanks so much for joining us.

    Lesley Logan 32:29

    I'm Lesley Logan.

    Brad Crowell 32:30

    And I'm Brad Crowell.

    Lesley Logan 32:31

You're amazing. Until next time, be it till you see it.

    Brad Crowell 32:34

    Episode Transcript:

    Kelsey Lensman 0:00

I have to continually remind myself, Kels, you just did something epic. You pursued. You had the courage. And I don't say this for me, but I say this for also people listening. You have the courage that not many people would have ever even had to pursue that, let alone to finish, let alone to start.

    Lesley Logan 0:18

Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started.

    Lesley Logan 0:57

Be It babe, get ready. Get ready to be inspired. Get ready to feel like you're having coffee with two of your girlfriends. Get ready to feel empowered and also to be challenged in the best way. Today, our guest is Kelsey Lensman, and I, I think I want to be her best friend now. I do. I do. I have, like, already followed her. I've hit the notifications bell. Whatever she is doing, I want in I don't know that she'll get me to do a couple of the things that she does, but there's a couple things I think I might be inclined to do because I'm inspired by her and her energy and her enthusiasm to support women and help women challenge themselves in a way, to see like what they're fully capable of. And so get ready. I mean, really, you're going to be inspired and empowered by Kelsey Lensman. Here she is.

    Lesley Logan 1:44

All right, Be It babe. I am really excited, because when I talked to today's guest, I was so impressed, so wowed, so in awe. I was like, how did you do what you did? We have to talk about this. I need to know more, and I wanted to share that with you. So Kelsey Lensman, thank you so much for being here today. Can you tell them who you are and what you rock at?

    Kelsey Lensman 2:00

Oh, man, that's a load of question. No, first, I just want to say thank you for having me, and everybody that's listening, thank you for continuing to listen in. I know that she just has so much gold here. So I'm excited to share just a little part of my journey to hopefully inspire you to keep thinking forward. But to give you guys a little bit of background, I won't go into the whole story, but I own a company, we actually just rebranded, it's called Xpand Your Limits, and we do all women's different strength events, endurance events, and just events that challenge women outside of their comfort zone to really show themselves what they're capable of. And that aligns with my own mission, personally, too. And this is where Lesley and I connected is last year I did a crazy thing. It's either crazy or amazing, whoever you talk to, but it was called Mission 48 and I did the 48 different fitness competitions in 48 states, and the kicker was in 48 days. And it was all about really inspiring women and young girls to really build true self confidence, not just what people see on Instagram, but like actually building that within themselves, to really just step out of their comfort zone, do hard things and show yourself what you're capable of. Then we raise money for charity and all of that. So as you can tell, I'm just really passionate about just breaking beliefs of what people are capable of, and just seeing what's already within you and pulling it out, in my opinion.

    Lesley Logan 3:08

Okay, it's kind, it's freaking amazing. Anything in 48 days in 48 different places, it's already hard. So when you say fitness competitions, are we talking about the muscle thing? Are we talking about like a race? What are we talking about? And then also, I guess we all want to know, how did you find one per day, or is there two in a day?

    Kelsey Lensman 3:29

This is what's wild. So originally, well, let me give context. So it was everything from a half marathon to a power lifting meet to an Olympic lifting meet, no body building, so no flexing on stage there. But it was all physical challenges. We did mountain biking, rocking anything that you could think of, Spartan Races, all the crazy stuff.

    Lesley Logan 3:46

Okay, that's cool, because since it wasn't the same thing every day, it didn't get, it didn't get boring. It also didn't like, you know, and then also, it made it more possible to challenge yourself in a multiple different facets, but also get them in 48 days, because it could be a mountain biking, swimming, running, okay, very cool.

    Kelsey Lensman 4:02

Yeah. And that's always different, though, because it's like, I mean, I give so much gratitude to the people that do the same thing every single day, like, it's amazing. However, when it's different, you have to be ready for everything, you know. Like, it's not just okay, I show up at this time. I do this, I do that. It's like, no, no, you got to be ready for the curve balls. Because yesterday you did mountain biking. Today you're doing half a marathon, and tomorrow you're lifting really heavy. And as you know, in the fitness world, all of that's kind of separate. It's like, you're either a power lifter or you do Pilates, like, everything is separate, yeah, but it's like, (inaudible) it all, you know?

    Lesley Logan 4:31

And also, it doesn't need to be like, I it shocks people all the time when they find out I actually go to a gym and lift heavy weights, I'm like, no, I do my Pilates actually lets me do that without as I get older, without injury, it's very helpful. You don't have to, but we do we all go, this is my lane. This is how I train. And there's a nice certainty around that. So I have to imagine being ready for everything there might have been, were there some days where you're a little bit nervous, because it would be really hard to train for all of those things, getting into the events.

    Kelsey Lensman 5:02

Oh, yeah. I mean, so right now, currently, while I'm talking to you, I'm training for 100-miler, which is crazy to me, because I'm not a runner. I do not like it. I am lifting more, and I'm like, okay, you gotta do something outside your comfort zones. I'm like, full send. Actually, I'm going to Arizona over by you.

    Lesley Logan 5:17

Oh my goodness, to do 100 miles in the desert. That's not boring.

    Kelsey Lensman 5:23

But I share that to say when you kind of set a crazy goal, you just have to go for it, and you got to be ready for it. And that was what's weird, what was wild with Mission 48 is there were days where I don't know if I can finish this, I don't know if I can physically endure this, and I didn't just want it to be easy for me of like, oh, you know, rainbows and sunshine. I'm just gallivanting across the country. I wanted to show the behind the scenes of, yes, the high days, but also the, oh, I don't know if I can do this, doubting days, or physically, hey, I got to persist through because I think that that's what connects with people's journeys. It's like a lot of times, people will see the outcome, they'll see what they see on social media, but they don't understand what has gone into it, because they haven't been in your shoes. They haven't been in the behind the scenes, right? And so I think it's important to me to share that behind the scenes detail and to share the transparency of it. Because I always say, like, I'm not on a pedestal. I'm just a regular girl from Ohio that has a lot of drive and a lot of commitment and is willing to take an action step and be courageous about something. So I want to really give that to other people. Like, hey, if Kels can, you can too, you just got to be willing to kind of endure the process with it, you know?

    Lesley Logan 6:28

Yeah. So, a girl from Ohio, how did you even come up with this idea? Were you always into fitness? Did anyone else before you do 24 events in 24 days? Like, how did, how did you even get because I think a lot of people do see the outcome and they go, wow, that's amazing, and they can be inspired. But also setting big goals, then you have to do the thing to do the goal, and so a lot of people get stuck there. So how did that even come about?

    Kelsey Lensman 6:52

Yeah, okay, let me give you a little backstory, because I think this will really give value to your audience, too. So growing up, I was an athlete. I mean, I would play basketball and volleyball, but I never, Lesley, pictured myself as the best. I always had to work pretty hard. I always had to. I wasn't just I came out of the womb and was the best athlete in the world, you know. So I never pictured myself as that version of me that could do all these crazy things. It just wasn't, wasn't even in my field of awareness. And so when I went to Ohio State from high school, I ended up randomly rowing for the Ohio State rowing team my freshman year, which is so random, but I share that to say my freshman to sophomore year, I decided to choose my career path, which was sports medicine. And then they were like, okay, you either continue rowing on Ohio State Athletics or you choose your career. And I'm like, I'm not going to be a professional rower. That's not in my, that's not in my cards. So I decided to choose my career path, but in that time frame was, is I didn't realize how much my identity was tied to being an athlete, that when I had it and then I didn't have it, I just lost myself. I was like, whoa. I didn't know who Kelsey was, outside of going to practice having somebody tell you what to do, working out, I felt, not just physically lost, I felt mentally, emotionally lost. In one moment, and this spurred everything for me, I just got out of a really challenging relationship. I stopped playing sports, and I remember walking into my bathroom, and I looked in my bathroom mirror, and I looked into my eyes, and I just didn't see who was looking back. It looked like a foreign person to me. Not only did I physically not look like myself, I didn't have that fire in my eyes. I didn't have that passion. I didn't see Kelsey, if that makes sense.

    Lesley Logan 8:37

It totally does. I remember tiring from a sport, and you're like, okay, so what do I do now? I'm not working towards anything. Yeah, yeah.

    Kelsey Lensman 8:45

It was so weird for me, you know. So in that moment, I just remember saying this, I was like, Kelsey, you have to get you good. And I didn't even know what that meant, you good. I don't know what that means, but I remember saying that moment, okay, I'm not working out, you know that's healthy, like, you know that's beneficial for you. So from an extent. So just get back to working out. And I share this because when I was getting back the quote-unquote working out, I was that girl in the weight room, had no idea what I was doing, didn't want anybody to look at her lift because I thought I was doing everything wrong. I was the girl googling workouts. And, I think people see me today and it's like, oh, she's always been like that. I was like, no, I was that girl, just like you might be, that girl on the other side of this that really doesn't really know what she's doing or wants to improve, but doesn't know what to take that step. So long story short, long story long, is then into, going into my junior-senior year, I was working out. I was feeling myself better. I ended up, randomly, and I don't condone this for everybody, but it was a big part of my journey is I remember somebody came up to me in the gym and they tapped me on the shoulder, and they're like, hey, Kels, have you ever thought about competing? I was like, competing in what? What are you even talking about? And they said, bodybuilding. And I, literally, Lesley, I laughed in their face. I was like, you think I can compete in bodybuilding? You are out of your dang ol' mind. Because I just, I didn't see visually like that just wasn't, wasn't even in my work.

    Lesley Logan 10:04

I had someone ask me that at the gym too, and I was like, I don't like salmon and chicken that much, so it's, that's a no, but I appreciate, I'm flattered and.

    Kelsey Lensman 10:14

It was just so, it was so wild, I just didn't think about it. But once again, I talk about the nudge a lot like kind of the thoughts that we think about when we're on our about to go to bed, that we're like, oh, what if we could do this? And so I pushed it down for a few months, and then the feeling of, what if, what if you could compete, girl? What if you could pursue that? And finally, after four months, I didn't tell a single soul, but I hired a coach. I was so nervous, I just had no idea what I was doing. But I started the process of it, and I told a lot of people, it wasn't me competing in bodybuilding, it wasn't the body that got me that it wasn't the body like anything about the physical changes, but it was that I did something that I didn't think that I could do. And I went through the process, and I learned, okay, you have to say no to some things that maybe previous Kelsey, the people pleaser, would have said yes to, but I have a goal, and I'm focused, and the now Kelsey, she's got to say no to that thing, and she has to really be focused on where she's headed. And so it was a lot of growth for me, Les, from I guess, a physical standpoint, but also more of a mental, emotional individual. Then my senior year, that's when I competed and I realized I was from the medical world, and so I saw everything siloed. The nutrition was siloed, the fitness was siloed, the mental side of it. And I'm like, why is it like you're a whole human? You know, it just didn't make sense to me. So that's when I started my company and all that. And then that's what led into Mission 48 is, I know that was your question. Let me get back to it real quick. But that's, what led into Mission 48 is I was, had my business for a few years. I was just kind of feeling, not necessarily burnt out, but I knew there was something more than just tapping on a computer, but I didn't know what that thing was. And I ended up watching a documentary, and highly recommend it. It's called Iron Cowboy. He did 50, listen to this if you think what I'm doing is crazy, 50 Iron Mans, okay, that's a full marathon, 112 miles, plus, mile bike, two miles (inaudible) in 50 states, in 50 days, with five kids in an RV.

    Lesley Logan 12:14

His partner deserves the award. But, like, obviously, like, some of those Iron Men were, like, not races, because there's like, Iron Man on a Wednesday. But the fact that he did that, that he drove, because we, my husband and I do tours, and like driving from one state to the next, some of those states are really close together. So east coast so easy, but eastern Colorado is fucking forever, just takes so long. So wow, that's impressive. I can see how that inspired you. And I want to go back to that, what you were doing. It makes a lot of sense. I think a lot of women get so used to not challenge we don't want to be wrong, because we've had to spend our entire life proving that we can do the thing that we're doing in every industry. Everywhere we're going, there's, like, some sort of proof that you are capable and confident. And so when you get to the thing that you're working so hard for, sometimes you just want to, like, be there. But then we wonder why we get a little stuck. We feel a little burnt out. We don't know who we are, and it's because there's a part of us that needs to actually challenge ourself in some way. But to turn on that key, to turn on the ignition, is really can be hard to do. It can be really challenging. We just had an episode come out where this girl, I think you'd really love her, but she said, Lisa Scholsberg said, when you're like, working with COVID mechanisms, she says, you are uncomfortable, you're not unsafe. And I think that we have to remind ourselves that we can get ourselves uncomfortable to become more of who we are, like that, like, you know what I mean? And so that's like coming up for me when I heard what you're talking about, because I, too, my family, my grandfather was a professional baseball player. My dad played sports. Everyone in my dad's side was an athlete. So there's like, not an option to not be an athlete. But I was actually never good at any of the sports. I had to work out all of the sports. I had to practice all the things I had the basketball hoop in the driveway and practice that. And you guys, I was on an undefeated team. We won the championship, and I never scored a fucking point. I was very good at rebounding, and I was very good at the good fouls, like the fouls that took a girl out, like, that, I was good at, but eye-hand coordination not happening. But like, I had to work at all those things. And even in my Pilates practice, there are people who are dancers by nature, and so when they became a Pilates instructor it's like they just moved so beautifully. And I'm like, I don't know how to do that. I have to work on that. So I resonate with that so much, because I think actually, most of us have to work at all of the things we do. There's so few people that are born with like Michael Phelps with the body that just swims really well. We think that it should come easier when really, actually, most of the most impressive stories are the ones that had to work really hard at it and be uncomfortable. And I want to highlight what you said, you have to learn to not be a people pleaser. You have to learn how to enforce boundaries. Because the only way to get to whatever the goal is, whether it is bodybuilding or, you know, 48 in 48 days, or whatever that is, you have to actually go what's is this really important to me right now that's going to take me from this. So can I do that in two months? And see them, then? We've still, like, it's a good practice for us.

    Kelsey Lensman 15:03

Oh, and I, oh, there's a few points I really (inaudible). So, number one, I love the unsafe that you're uncomfortable, not unsafe. Because I think, and I don't want to generalize women, but I'm going to call us out here is like, we can get very emotional about certain things, and in a yes, emotions are good, and please express them. But from a negative extent, what I, hear me out for a second is when we are not good at something, it's like, then our brain will start going, oh my gosh, you're terrible. Oh my gosh, you're not made for this. Oh, you can't do this. And it's like, our emotions will start to spin and spiral.

    Lesley Logan 15:34

Oh, it'll start to point out everything you're not good at, too. It'll just do all of them.

    Kelsey Lensman 15:37

Everything and I'm somebody like, okay, let's, get up. Let's take it back. What's physiologically going on, you know? And it's like, okay, when we can understand that our brain is wired for safety. It's not wired for our happiness or our fulfillment. It's wired, literally, just to keep us alive. And so when we do the new thing, we step out of the comfort zone. Your brain is like, whoa. What is happening? This is unpredictable, this is unknown. And it doesn't necessarily mean it's bad for you, or that it's not beneficial, but it's just like your physiology is trying to keep you safe, which is good, it's great, right? We want to stay alive, but when it's conflicting with actually where we are destined to go or or the growth that we want to have, we have to understand those emotions, they're not bad, but we can't live by them, you know, and that's incredibly important.

    Lesley Logan 17:46

You are, I think you're, I mean, like, so Gay Hendrick's my favorite authors, and he has the book The Big Leap, and we got, I was like.

    Kelsey Lensman 17:57

Oh, that is my favorite book. I just recommended it.

    Lesley Logan 16:35

Oh, it's, I've been recommending it since 2018 and I got to have him on the podcast. He's been on the podcast. He was episode 400 go listen. He's so amazing, but he talks about the things that we do when we go outside of our comfort zone. And so one of those is worry. One of those is get sick. There's like, different we pick fights. One of those is look for all the things that didn't go well. So we have a win, and then we're like, yeah, but this isn't working, and I felt so called out by that, but it goes to your point. When we start to like, we have a bad day, we go, we try to do something new or challenging for us, and it doesn't go the way we want it or the way we thought it would. And then for some of us, because our cope like, not our way of putting ourselves back in our comfort zone, is going oh, this didn't go well, and then this didn't go well, and we started like, and then it's this whole thing when actually, you picked up a heavier weight, or you tried a new recipe, or you went for a job, and that's the thing that didn't go well. These other things had probably zero to do with that. There's a correlation, but not a causation. And so we could, let's just focus on the one thing, because, yes, we should absolutely feel our feelings. I think that's one of the most beautiful things about women is that we can, but we can't, then let that feeling tell us all the other things we're not doing well, so that we get so distracted by the fact that we also don't have a clean house and our car is a mess and this, right, that we forget the goal was that I tried to do X thing, and I didn't do it well today, but I have more information. And I think we just need this is where we need women like you, Kelsey, that's why this, hopefully this podcast helps people, but also friends in our life, to go, oh, actually, hold on, hold on. All of this stuff has nothing to do with the main thing that made you feel this way in this moment. And what can we do? What can we learn from that?

    Kelsey Lensman 18:19

That's so good. That actually really hits home with me, and I'll be incredibly transparent here, like the Mission 48 thing, right? A whole big campaign took me a year to put together, and a lot of people asked me before, like, okay, Kelsey, what is success for you with this Mission 48 and I definitely got caught in what my expectation was for all of it is, I had crazy high expectations, right? Like, oh, I wanted to be here and here, even if I didn't consciously decide that, I think subconsciously, it's like this was a failure, even though I know failure is just feedback, but this is a failure if it didn't go this specific way. And I'll be honest with you, whenever you're in pursuit of the big goal, there's some things that are going to pan out, and there's some things they're not going to pan out, the way that you want. And so after Mission 48 it was a success in some capacities, and there were so many learnings in other capacities. And it was interesting, because after that my brain was like, man, that didn't pan out to the way that you wanted it, or it didn't go to the extent that you wanted to, even if, in some ways it did. And so it was very similar to your point of that little voice, or those little parts of you are going to pull up to try to almost throw stones at the thing that you did. And I have to continually remind myself, Kels, you just did something epic. You pursued. You had the courage. And I don't say this for me, but I say this for also people listening. You have the courage that not many people would have ever even had to pursue that, let alone to finish, let alone to start. And so I share that, especially with your audience, and not, you know, just inflate my ego, but to share like, maybe this person that's listening is starting a fitness journey, maybe that person that's listening is starting a business. The courage in the pursuit is something that you should be so damn proud of, and the courage in the continual persistence is something that you get to really be proud of from a daily, actual standpoint. I think more people need to hear that, because we just see the outcome, and we think, okay, if it's not exactly the way that I thought it was, then it's not how it's panned out.

    Lesley Logan 20:17

So you, yes, you bring up something that comes to my mind. So I was watching a workshop on fear. Sometimes people like are afraid of doing an exercise. And I'm like, I chose this exercise for you because I know your body can do it, but they have a fear of whatever that movement is. For whatever reason. Some people are afraid to go upside down, things like that. And so in this workshop I was watching, she brought up this one interesting thing that we actually get dopamine from the journey, not the completion. We think we have to finish the thing to get the celebratory results and everything, which, yes, there's though that does happen. But actually you get a dopamine high. You get a hit of dopamine in the pursuit of trying the thing out. So if you are trying to do a handstand, you can get the actual same feelings of awesomeness just trying to kick up into a handstand and coming back down, you're not even actually holding it. It's a very, very cool thing. And so I think that, like we we stop ourselves because we get obsessed, but we get frustrated right before we stop that process, because we go, I didn't do that right. You have those 40 events, and not everything went the way you wanted. I totally understand that we've had, we have we're about to on our seventh winter tour, our seventh tour. I'll be on winter tour. It's our biggest tour. It's got 23 cities, and three cities sold out in 24 hours. So five cities sold in 48 hours. And of course, of course, I can look at, oh, these cities haven't sold anything, and we start to focus on, what the fuck why aren't these? And then, like, what does that mean? Would it be like, you, it's, you know. So here's the thing, Kelsey and I can talk about this like we're experts, because we just we experience ourselves. We are not perfect. And the thing is, though, at some point we stop the spiral, and we become an observer and a reflector and go hold on, what's going on here. And I think the quicker you can do that, the quicker we can stop our the process of the spiral or the searching for everything goes wrong and stop, stop that you get that muscle be much faster. It means quicker recovery and more space to do the thing that you want to be doing.

    Kelsey Lensman 22:14

I love it. Everything you said just hits home with me. Hits home with me. So deeply.

    Lesley Logan 22:18

Okay, so what are you most excited about right now? You did a year of planning to do a 48 day, 48 event thing, and then what? Because, like, I don't believe in like, never, ever stop. I think that some people, once they hit one goal, they have another goal, and they never just sit and soak it up. But also, you clearly are someone who has something that they're working on. That's what lights you up.

    Kelsey Lensman 22:40

It's funny. After Mission 48 which was (inaudible) a year ago. So this is 2024 when this is recorded. It was 2023. Literally a year ago, almost to the date that I finished it. And after that, I was in contemplative mode. It changed me in ways where I got I like to say it this way, best way to say it is like it was such a big pattern interrupted my life. It was different. As you know, when you travel for 48 days, you're not waking up, working out, going to work, come home, eat dinner, you're not in the monotony of it, which there is value to routine, but at the same time, when you just kind of keep going in that monotony over and over a month goes by and you're like, I don't even know what to do with my life. I don't even know what happened. And so for 48 days, it was just completely pattern interrupt. And so after that, it gave me a new perspective. Les, okay, what is your life going to look like differently after this Kels? There's certain things that you're going to stop doing when you come home. There's going to be certain hard decisions that you're going to make, that you're actually going to have the courage to make after. And so the beginning of the year was a lot more, I almost say, like, regrounding. It's like, okay, I made some really hard decisions personally and professionally that I didn't want to make, but I knew that I had to, and I knew that it was in alignment with me. And this would have been the spring time.I ran a company. It was called Empower Fitness, and we ended up not getting the trademark back for that in the spring, which at the moment, I was like, oh, dang it. Like, that's what we do, like our own strength events around the country, and that's all of it. But I always say there's, it's for a reason. And so it made me really challenge myself to think, okay, Kels, what do you want to build? Yes, you're individually but like, what do you want to build from a company, from a mission, from a movement standpoint? And so that has led to, now, it's actually interesting timing. So I just dropped it four days ago, but I rebranded my whole company, and it's a whole new vision where it's an Xpand Your Limits. XYL, you can kind of see it from the video short.

    Lesley Logan 24:27

    Oh, I love it.

    Kelsey Lensman 24:28

Yeah. And it's all about different events that challenge women outside of their comfort zone. And so we have all women's strength events around the country where we've had ages 14, no, no, seven to 72 years old, where they're trying to get as much weight as they can. So that's one division. We also have an endurance division, so running and biking, we have an outdoors division, so it's like rocking and military style events. And then we have our last one, I think you would hit with this is it's a resilience division, where it's breath work, cold plunge, sauna, like really teaching yourself how to decompact your nervous system.

    Lesley Logan 25:00

That's definitely my alley. I'm in there. I have a cold plunge in my house. So, yes.

    Kelsey Lensman 25:06

I wish I had that. Oh, dang.

    Lesley Logan 25:08

Okay, here so easy. We maybe you don't have an extra bathroom. We have an extra bathroom and it has a tub. Live in a house with just two people and three bathrooms. So we took the tub. There's a company that has it's kind of like what they do for jellyfish tanks. So we just filled the tub up on Tuesday mornings, and then we put these tubes in, and it makes the water super cold. This piece of equipment wasn't it was like 500 bucks as opposed to, like the $11,000 plunge, which I would love to have, but that's a lot of money. So anyways, it keeps our bathtub water at 50 degrees. We can make it colder, but that's where we're at right now, 50 degrees. And so my husband, I use it every morning, and then on Tuesday mornings, we drain it, it gets the tub, gets clean, and we redo it. And we do it every morning for several minutes, (inaudible) yeah, I'll send I'll send it to you. And then we I have a sauna blanket. And so I love my sauna. Oh, Brad has already heard. Brad's already heard guys, so I already have an affiliate link for her. We'll make sure we put it in the notes. But anyways, it is, uh, so I have a sauna blanket in the house, like I am, and then obviously I teach breath work. But I'm obsessed with this stuff because I can't sit still and meditate. But I like these practices because my ADHD gets to think about something else while I'm trying to meditate.

    Kelsey Lensman 26:22

Yeah, and I think there's so much value as you probably experience is like when you physically do something you didn't think you could do. It sometimes gives you more courage in business or personal relationships to make the hard decision or to pursue that thing.

    Lesley Logan 26:37

100% Kelsey. It is what I say to people all the time, even their Pilates practice like you do your Pilatespractice and you spend time with your mind and body connection. You're like, wow, I just did this really hard thing. It is part of the confidence building and doing hard things. Or, oh, I can't do this, but I can do this. And it's like just that habit of telling yourself, I'm not able to do this yet, but I can do this. It helps you seek out in other problems, like I was able to do that. So I love so you have these three divisions, three divisions, four divisions. How many?

    Kelsey Lensman 27:04

Four with resilience, yeah, four with resilience.

    Lesley Logan 27:05

That is so awesome. That is so cool. You, like, I hope you. I hope when your events ever come to Vegas I want to come.

    Kelsey Lensman 27:13

Oh, I'll message you. Yeah. So we're actually expanding out right now, just in different states. Our lifting, so we've done that for a few years has been in different states, but now is like the next step, with all the other divisions, with the rebrand. So we'll get on it. I'm excited.

    Lesley Logan 27:25

I mean, you guys, we're all hearing this now, and we're watching Kelsey grow. I'm like, I knew her win.

    Kelsey Lensman 27:29

She first rebranded to this. That's company, where it's going, which I'm really excited about. And then I just value not just talking the talk, but walking the walk, I think it, there's just so much value to that. And it was funny, because not that lifting isn't hard for me anymore, but it's, I enjoy it. It's fun. It's not kind of that same discomfort. And I hate running. I do not like running. It is not my favorite, but I'm like, all right, Kels, you gotta walk the walk, girl. And so that's when I sign up for the 100 miler, and it has I still don't like running fully. I have more respect for it, like I always say, I found respect for running and the discipline of it, but it's not like, oh, let's go run 16 miles today.

    Lesley Logan 28:12

No, I was a professional runner for a bit, and even then, I didn't. I enjoyed how I felt afterwards, and I enjoyed running with my girlfriends, but I actually didn't like the running.

    Kelsey Lensman 28:22

Yeah, I ran 16 this morning, and I was like, oh, I'm good on that one.

    Lesley Logan 28:26

Yeah, yeah, that's why you need this cold punch and then some Pilates mat side kicks and single I've got a whole little workout for you, because it will. I never had any any injury running or pain running ever. And I, after my first marathon, the next day, I like, walk up a flight of stairs and I didn't feel it. So because what people don't realize is, when you are doing anything, running, cycling, it's all on that frontal plane. If you strengthen your side body, you actually have way more balance. You don't trip when you're tired, and it offsets the load there. So I'll send it to you.

    Kelsey Lensman 29:02

That's what I can notice, not to get nerdy about this, but real quick mental stuff, is I can notice, like, my glute (inaudible) because I'm so much just in this pain going forward, is I noticed one, it's working a lot more, but also, like, I need to be really proactive about that, because that's going to help my hips. So.

    Lesley Logan 29:16

I have a whole thing for you. When I was a professional runner, I was sponsored, and I actually used to train elite runners, and they all were in the Boston Marathon the same year of the Boston bombing. But all of them, they were elite. So I wasn't, I wasn't there. I didn't. I am a sponsored runner because I was training elite athletes, and I actually, in a relay did win the LA Marathon with my relay partner, but as a, not as like a solo person. At any rate, they all were injury free, and their times were faster because of the mat work that we did before or after. We did it before on a long run day and after on a speed work day. But it is true, if you don't, it gets tighter and then that starts to affect your lower back, and it's a whole chain. So anyways, You are awesome. This is so cool. You have to let us know how your 100 mile goes. We better stay in touch, because I.

    Kelsey Lensman 30:04

    It's December 30th this year.

    Lesley Logan 30:06

December 30th, this is how you're gonna wrap the year?

    Kelsey Lensman 30:09

So it's this, oh, this event is cool. So it's called Across the Year. So it events that finish throughout the end of the year and then start the beginning. So I'll be running literally as the clock ticks to 2025, you can think of (inaudible).

    Lesley Logan 30:22

Yeah but you have to have some friends along the way, right? Like friends with pouches of food and stuff, yeah? So cool. Okay, we're gonna take a brief break and find out how people can find you, follow you, work with you.

    Lesley Logan 30:34

All right, Kelsey, you're freaking awesome. I don't know. I can't be the only person who's like, anyone listens like I want to be friends with Kelsey. How do people get to hang out with you? Because your energy is so amazing. It's so contagious. And what you're doing, I think most of the women here would want to challenge themselves in one of those ways. I, don't let the rucking scare you guys. There's a few other things that she mentioned she does.

    Kelsey Lensman 30:57

That's so good. That's so good. I appreciate you. No, this was a just such a good time, and I appreciate, one, you having me on but also people listen, too.

    Lesley Logan 31:03

Yeah. So where do you hang out with the rebrand? Where's your website? Where can they work with you? Don't you have a book coming out?

    Kelsey Lensman 31:08

I do. So next year, this has been this time next year is a book coming out. But my social, so Kelsey Lensman, @KelseyLensman, everything is on there, and then you'll see our company Xpand Your Limits on social, and then Xpand Your Limit not the s .com is where we'll have everything, too.

    Lesley Logan 31:25

I love it. We'll have all those in the show notes. Make sure you guys all find her follower, see if she's got an event where you are at. You have inspired us in so many ways already. But for our overachievers, perfectionist people who are just like, hold on. What's the what's my first next step? Bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted steps people can take to be it till they see it. What do you have for us?

    Kelsey Lensman 31:42

I'm going to say this because this is the first thing from my brain is sign up for something that scares the crap out of you. I think that is such an actionable step that you will learn, not if, you will learn so much about yourself, and it will challenge you to level up in ways that something not on the calendar won't. So sign up for not, not us. You don't need to do XYL stuff. You're more than welcome to, but whether it be a Spartan Race or race, or anything that you do, sign up for something, show up and endure the process and learn a lot about yourself in the process of it.

    Lesley Logan 32:11

I love that. Here in Vegas, they have a circus school, and they have like, 40,000 square feet or something. Brad will correct me on the recap, but it's insanity. They even have physical therapists and doctors on site, because obviously Vegas has the circus acts, all these different professional dancers. And so they can actually be members there, and they can see doctors there, and then get taped and whatever. And they can go and practice their whatever, right? But there's a trapeze, there's those Olympic trampolines, there's Lyra, there's all these different things. And so I went to the tryout, like the trial day. It was me. I was 40 years old guys with, like, two seven year olds. So two seven year old boys, that was what was going on. And it was the most to your point. It was uncomfortable in a 40 year old with two seven year olds. Like, okay, did I sign for the wrong class? What is going on here? And then to be jumping on this humongous, not a rebound or like an Olympic trampoline, but you fly up. You're like a story off the ground. You go through all that, you go you get frustrated in a second, be like, hold on. I'm learning. I'm trying to have fun, and it's really quite a fun challenge. I did not do the trapeze. I didn't know it was a 90-minute class. And I'm okay with that, because I'll just be never like, hold that bar. So that's just my avenue. But until we can ensure my whole body from Lloyds of London, or whatever it is, we got to rein it in. But it was really fun. And then the next year, so this in 2024 I signed up for pole classes because I was like, I go, feel like a sexy person. I feel like one of those awkward people. And pole was so it was such a challenge, because you think you're strong, and then you try to hold on to a pole that's slippery. Then it gives you every pay your pole dancers more everyone just pay them more. So I agree with this Be It Action Items wholeheartedly.

    It's Fuck Yeah Friday.

    Brad Crowell 0:01

    Fuck yeah.

    Lesley Logan 0:02

Get ready for some wins.

    Lesley Logan 0:46

Hi, Be It babe. Okay, it is that Friday after Thanksgiving here in the States, and instead of doing wins, I wanted to do some gratitude. So I wanted to take a moment and to share my gratitude for you, and also for this podcast. So it's not a solo episode, because it's gonna be quick and short, and I'll still have a mantra.

    Lesley Logan 1:07

But, Thanksgiving holiday is always a lot. I used to work in retail, okay? And so what that meant is a really slow several days. Couldn't go home for Thanksgiving because I had to be at work at eight in the morning the day after, and literally work until the mall closed. There was just no leaving and just not really enjoy the holiday, because all of my friends traveled. I lived in Southern California, and so from the 2001 to 2009 I did never have a Thanksgiving, and so I would just literally eat Chinese food, the gluten free version, and kind of be at home. And I'd watch Home For The Holidays, which is a great movie if you've never watched. It's a Thanksgiving movie, and it just used to make me laugh, because the family is like so many nuances. There's so much drama and there's so much stuff, and even in all of the chaos and all the family dynamics and all this stuff, there's like gratitude in there. And so now I don't really work the week of Thanksgiving. Have a couple things I had to do end of the week, but really from Wednesday on, except for, like, some social media stuff to remote the sales that we have, Brad and I get to just spend it thinking about our family and thinking about what we're grateful for, and thinking about the friends in our life, and then we go and support small businesses on Saturday. We get all of our Christmas shopping done, and we try to do it using small businesses as much as possible. Obviously, sometimes our friends and family want things that are not at small businesses, but that's what our goal is.

    Lesley Logan 2:34

And I share those with you because in this moment, I'm so grateful for you. I do not take lightly that you use some of your minutes of your day to spend with me and the guests that I bring on. And not every guest is going to be enlightening and change your world, but if it even gives you insight on someone else's world, that, to me, is a huge win, and I'm very grateful if it gives you some insight on some ways to be empathetic to people who are different than you, then that is a win, and I'm grateful for that. And if it allows you to go, oh my God, that's what's been holding me back, then I am so grateful. And that is a win.

    Lesley Logan 3:11

And so you know, as this podcast is hitting three and a half years at the end of this year. Holy moly. And we are so many episodes. And this is episode 453 I mean, I feel like we just listened to Episode 400 so the fact that there's been 53 more, I learn new things that (inaudible) these guests. And so some of, this podcast was selfishly started because I struggle to be it till I see it. I sometimes start to worry about what other people will think, or what could go wrong, or maybe we should do this, because that's what's working for other people. And sometimes I can doubt things. And so this podcast forces me to be it till I see it, because I would be out of alignment and integrity. And my hope is that this podcast is a reminder to you that for the person you want to be, for the thing that you want to do, for the things you want in this life, first of all, it's all possible, and second of all, it comes from stepping outside of your comfort zone and being it until you see it, from taking your goals that you have and working backwards and then acting as if it's already happened, and trusting the process, and not in the way that you're doing the secret, But in the way that I'm going to take action towards this thing that I want, and I'm going to be the person who would have the thing that I want already. And then between those two things, between the being it, and then also action, I'm going to ditch some of that fear and ditch that imposter syndrome, and I'm going to truly make these things happen, and it's been really cool to watch and hear from so many of you who listen on how different episodes have helped you be it till you see it. So, thank you.

    Lesley Logan 4:52

Thank you to the team who puts this together. Could not do this without you. Thank you to my friends and family who are the first listeners. Who helped get this off the ground. And thank you to all of our guests who have taken time out of your busy life to let me ask you questions. And thank you to you for listening, no matter which episodes or how many episodes you've listened to. So this is your first one. Hi. Thank you. And my big ask is that you send in some wins as this year wraps up, I want to celebrate them with you, and you share this with a friend. It doesn't have to be this episode, but share your favorite episode with a friend, and I'm going to say thank you in advance. Thank you so much.

    Lesley Logan 5:33

If you are sitting here listening to this and you are working today because you were like me, and you were having to work in retail and or your job just requires you. You have so much work to do, and you wish you were taking today off. Write that down, and let's see how we can be it till we see it. You have a year from now to get this day off. So what do we have to do to help you do that? And maybe we can get you half a day off, right? Maybe we can, like, get you the morning off. That's fine, but let's start now. And anytime you're like, oh, it must be nice for them, that is a sign that you wish you had it. So let's pick a date on the future and work backwards. Let's do it together. Thank you so very much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

    Lesley Logan 6:14

And here is your mantra for the weekend. I could not let you go. It's just the gratitude you have to hear a mantra. So here it is. When I speak my needs, I receive them abundantly. Oh, that's perfect for today. When I speak my needs, I receive them abundantly. When I speak my needs, I receive them abundantly. My love, speak your needs, especially on today, and then enjoy the abundance that comes to you. You can have what you want. So take that messy action and Be It Till You See It.

    Lesley Logan 6:45
