Palliative care is bittersweet, we are grateful to have it, but accepting this requires us to face the frail nature of life. Palliative care extends beyond removing pain and creating comfort, it's about making sure the patient doesn't count days, or forget their lives matter, for young and old.
Ella Stratton is the Director of HAS Foundation, an organisation setup to help families with children with life limiting conditions. Ella began this foundation after her son Hunter Alfred Stratton, passed away. Since losing her child, Ella has found the strength to tell others of her journey so they can learn from her experience, and she is also working to serve and nurture others by creating care packages through her foundation.
In today's episode of Be The Drop, Ella shares her emotional and moving story of her family's palliative care experience. Ella explains how Hunter and the strength he showed in life, motivates her to create programs and services to help others who also find themselves in this heartbreaking situation.
-----
This episode talks openly about death which some listeners may find upsetting. If you or someone close to you needs support navigating palliative care, contact the HAS Foundation or visit Paediatric Palliative Care for an Australia wide list of support services.

Nightlife evokes thoughts of fun and entertainment. Unfortunately sometimes nightlife fun, can end badly. First aid isn't always on hand, ambulances don't always make it in time, and young people may not call paramedics for fear of being judged or getting in trouble.
Mathew D'Onofrio, a Forbes listed 30-under-30 entrepreneur, is a trained nurse and St John's Ambulance volunteer. Whilst volunteering, he recognised the gap at events and parties where timely first aid, that is accessible to youth, is needed. To fill this void, Mathew created Nightlife First-Aid.
In today's episode of Be The Drop, Mathew talks us through his journey from helping his friends at parties, to overcoming abuse, building a business, and saving lives. Mathew's development has inspired him to share his tips on learning, mental health, and following your passion.

The film industry can be notoriously difficult to break into. Gaining experience on a film project, and having your film shown in front of a large audience, is an incredible opportunity for aspiring film makers to get their foot in the door.
A passion for short film and a desire to support film makers has inspired the Fleurieu Film Festival, which was launched in 2016. Under the Direction of Director Alison Alcock, the film festival has steadily grown each year.
In today's episode of Be The Drop, recorded live at the Fleurieu Film Festival, we hear from experienced industry professionals such as Kym Goldsworthy and Kirsty Stark, plus Festival Curator Chris Warman and Director Alison Alcock on the incredible value of film festivals to build your profile in the film industry. We also hear from some of the finalists, including the Festivals winner for Best Film Director, Nick Thomson.
