In this special guest episode, we are joined by the lovely Jasmine Matus. Jasmine is a qualified yoga therapist, hatha yoga teacher and somatic movement educator. Jasmine has studied many other modalities outside the yoga sphere that have all contributed to her understanding over the years as a teacher including art therapy, nervous system work with Irene Lyon, an introductory course into psychoneuroimmunology as well as in another lifetime where she studied jewellery and object design.
Together we explore the concept of balance and how we can apply balance in our day to day life. Bringing the idea of balance out of theory and providing a tangible way of experiencing this state of being.
Topics we discuss in the episode:
- Jasmines own experience with juggling too much all at once and the consequences
- Jasmines yogic perspective on balance and how we fluctuate in and out of it
- Why forcing balance can consequently create unbalance in our lives
- Burnout and what to do about it
- The link between instability in the body and instability in the mind
- How to practice yoga intelligently
- Understanding the myth of emptying the mind through self awareness
- Nervous system signs to prevent burn out from occuring
- Rituals to regulate your nervous system to encourage a state of balance
- A self soothing 2 minute practice you can do NOW

- Why self discipline is the gateway to building long lasting self trust

Welcome to Season 3 of Be The Tortoise!
I am so excited to have you join me for another season of mindful conversations where we explore how to live life a little more intentionally. Together, we keep mindful living simple, achievable and most of all relatable for the ones who need a little more balance in their lives :)
In todays episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Casey Weiss from all the way in Northern California. Casey is a certified holistic nutritionist and life coach who runs her own practice 'Your Case for Wellness' where she offers private and group coaching services. After almost a decade of struggling with eating disorders and body image issues, she knew there must be a better way to approach health. This is what propelled her back to study nutrition. Casey focuses on working with women who are ready to stop the yo-yo struggle and finally make peace with food and their bodies. She found that what was missing in the health coaching space were coaches and programs that emphasised the importance of mindset and holistic behaviours in tandem with food and exercise.
She now coaches women all over the world on how they can truly feel their best from the inside out and stress less about food so they can live their lives to the fullest.
In todays discussion we cover:
- Caseys personal journey with body image, binge eating, yo-yoing and making unhealthy food choices
- How to become consistent with our food choices and stop the yo-yo mentality
- Key pieces of advice when it comes to eating to fuel our bodies in the right way
- Mindset tools and behaviours that women can apply to help stress less about food and their bodies
- How to create a healthy, strong and mindful relationship with our food

The pressure we put on ourselves to always be on the go without giving ourself the permission to rest simply needs to stop. We have all heard the saying that we can't pour from an empty cup yet why do we continue to try? Why is it that we have to get to a breaking point before we decide to prioritise ourself and the break that we know we need?
In the last solo episode for Season 2 on Be The Tortoise, Claudia dives into the signs, symptoms and wake up calls that indicate we need to take a break and practical ways to actually give yourself this time within a busy schedule.
"To serve others well, we first need to serve ourself".

Today on the podcast we are here to speak about women’s empowerment.
Empowerment by definition is the process of becoming stronger, more confident and in control of our life by claiming our personal rights. This is a powerful topic. One that can be spoken about in many different contexts but today we are here to speak about one incredible women’s journey of empowerment after her experience with Domestic Violence.
Bridie is first and foremost a mumma to her 2 beautiful children. She is a survivor of abuse and has used her journey to fuel her own personal mission to empower women to take back and realise their own inner power. She does this though practices in many healing modalities including Breathwork, Kundalini Activation and The Aaruka Healing modality (deep subconscious mind work).
In this episode we speak about Bridies personal story, how to take responsibility for your life after abuse, how to navigate coming out of fight or flight mode, what is body sovereignty, navigating motherhood, finding your "why" and rituals you can use to empower yourself to create a life of abundance and safety.
Currently Bridie is offering short voice recorded psychic guidance readings and online group Breath work and Kundalini Activation sessions within her newest venture The Temple of HER.
She also offers one off booking for a Soul Sessions.
