  • Maybe, It Is About You | BE Moment

You know the saying "it's not about you"? But sometimes, it really IS all about us!

Third trimester, I was frustrated. I was about to launch my podcast and was feeling a lot of fear. I hadn't been prioritizing my workouts and I was NOT sleeping. I felt pretty miserable and stressed out.

My husband got home that night and did something minor and I told him "I am NOT feeling supported. I need more support from you". And he very calmly said "if you're not feeling supported, is there an area where you aren't supporting yourself?

Of course, in my tired, moody state, that wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear, but one of the things I love about my husband is that he works with a coach and works on his own issues and often, the things we are working on mirror each other!

I thought about it and asked myself...how can I better support me? Am I setting myself up to succeed in the areas that are important to me before I expect someone else to?And when we can really look honestly at ourselves, we can determine what we need to do.

If you aren't supporting yourself and you're expecting others tol, it's like pouring water into a cup with holes….there will never be enough to fill up the cup. When I am really supporting myself, I'm high vibing on life. I FEEL support from those around me. Opportunities literally fall out of the sky. There's no room for negativity or drama and it's as if people can sense it.

It's YOUR job to support yourself, to make yourself happy, to love yourself. How can you apply this to every day? To what you're doing? To what you're eating?

Ask: Does what I'm doing now support me? Does what I'm doing now help me achieve my goals? Does what I'm doing now help me become my highest and best self?

Do what you can to be happy, because when you're happy, you can do anything!

  • Living A Life of Big Magic with The Four Agreements | BE Moment

This podcast has often been focused on people's personal journeys, or on ways to design your life. But the reality is that we don't operate in a bubble, that we are working to live and improve ourselves in a world where we are constantly interacting with others who have their own experiences, needs, fears and dreams.

This morning, I saw something posted by someone I know well and it cut deep. I felt very personally attacked. After I meditated, I unpacked my feelings around what had happened in the context of two books I'm currently reading.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

    Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert

    1. Be impeccable with your word.
      1. Speak with integrity, Say only what you mean
        1. Argue for your limitations and you get to keep them. - Elizabeth Gilbert
        2. What if you talked to yourself as if you were talking to the person you love most in the world?
      2. Do not speak against yourself
        1. Have you ever felt better by lashing out? By gossiping? Or by complaining?
        2. We only have so much time and energy. If we use it to complain about others, to criticize others or to find fault in them, that's time that could be spent with those we love, towards working towards our dreams, to give to those in need. It's time we NEVER get back.
      3. Avoid gossiping about others
        1. What would your highest and best self say?
      4. Use your word in the direction of love and truth
      1. Nothing others do is because of you.
        1. Ask, are they hungry, tired or stressed? 95% of the time, that's the situation.
      2. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream
        1. THis is TOUGH!!! But think of this…. which is more painful… NOT pursuing the thing that you are called to do, whether that's creating a course, coaching, opening up a creative business, speaking…..because someone criticized or judged you? Because they wounded you with a pin prick of their opinion? Or not bringing forth to life something YOU were uniquely meant to do?
          1. YOU DO NOT NEED ANYONE'S PERMISSION TO LIVE A CREATIVE LIFE - Elizabeth Gilbert (Big Magic)
          2. Grieve if you must, but grieve efficiently - Elizabeth Gilbert
      3. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.
    2. Don't take things personally
      1. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want
        1. This might not even have been about me!!
      2. Communicate as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings and drama
    3. Don't make assumptions!
      1. Your best will change from moment to moment, from when you are healthy to sick
        1. You can measure your worth by your dedication to your path, not by your successes or failures.
          1. "You don't get any special credit for knowing how to be afraid of the unknown" Elizabeth Gilbert
        2. You not what is NEVER our best? Self sabotaging because we are afraid. Afraid of failure, afraid of others opinions.
        1. Do you have the courage to bring forth the treasures that are hidden within you? - Elizabeth Gilbert
      2. Do your best and you'll avoid self judgement and regret.
    4. Always Do Your Best

  • How Learning To ADD Has Changed My Life | BE Moment

Nearly everyone I know, whether business owner or employee, has some amount of overwhelm they are dealing with. I hear people constantly saying they don't have time, they have too much going on, or that there aren't enough hours in the day. It's a complaint I said for years.

I often have people ask me how I get so much done. How I'm a present parent with two littles 3 and under, run multiple profitable businesses working less than full time, travel, am building a house, podcasting, writing a book and still have time for fun and some spontaneity ….And yes, I do sleep, ideally 6-7 hours per night.

While I'm always improving and tweaking my processes, it's because I've spent the past 20 years OBSESSED with time management and productivity coupled with not just building, but really LIVING, a life I'm obsessed with.

Here is one of my FAVORITE ways to own your time. ADD - Add, delete, delegate.

Delete (or eliminate): Be picky with what you waste your time on. Wasted time is worse than wasted money. This isn't a contest in productivity. And it doesn't mean deleting something to create room for something else (unless that's what you want to do).

    • Everything you say yes to is saying no to something else.
    • Rank your tasks. What's at the bottom in priority? Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
    • Say No (but being honest).
    • Emails
      • me - just say no to emails
      • com
      • Stop letting email run your life. Set expectations.
    • Social Media/Notifications
      • Delete the apps you haven't used in 30 days.

    Automate:

    • Personal Life: What can you order by subscription? Food, cleaning supplies, consumables?
    • Work Life
      • Create Systems + Checklists
      • Utilize a Virtual Assistant
      • Network Marketing!!! It's all done for you!

Delegate: Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

    • Housework: Write down a list of everything you would love to have someone else do for you.

    • Work Life: VA, Podcast Producer, Web Designer, Payroll, Accountant
      • What is your time worth per hour? If you're doing anything that costs less than you're time, why are you doing it?

  • The Be Vs. Do Struggle| BE Moment

How many times have you found yourself in on vacation but experiencing total anxiety about something happening back home? About the emails that were piling up, or the to do list items you hadn't finished? Yet days ago, you were at work, daydreaming about that pool time, where you'd relax without a care in the world?

    BE HERE NOW.

There's a reason on vacation when you enjoy yourself, you talk about selling everything, quitting your job and moving to wherever you are. And possibly bartending or opening a tiny boutique or a juice bar. It's not that you about not working. It's that you spent days BEING.

Our purpose is to find how to BE more of the time, so that we build a life we don't need a vacation from. When are you taking the time to LIVE AND LOVE that life you are designing? Are you so busy building a life, you aren't taking time to live it? Let me repeat that …. are you so busy BUILDING a life, you aren't taking time to live it?

What is causing most of our anxiety? Typically, focusing on something outside of what we are experiencing now. On a future time. On a different place. On something else we could or should be doing. On someone else other than ourselves.

  • Pushing Your Trigger Points, On Purpose | BE Moment

How many of you have certain things that trigger you? A situation, a smell, a word….that sends you into a spiral, a freakout or just generally takes you the opposite direction from your BE state? What do you do about it? You avoid it!!!

What is a trigger point? It's a fear (perhaps of failure, or of our significant other repeating a pattern of something an ex did, or a word that brings us back to a time that we were traumatized).

What triggers me? Having someone question my intentions (ignoring - cut them out of life). Criticism (become defensive). The last natural thing we do when someone hits a trigger point is dig a little deeper. We go into fight or flight (run from it or fight it….which end up being the same outcome).

    • 1 - Why we need to stop avoiding our triggers and face them with trigger point training?

Trigger point training/flexibility - build connection to areas of your body so that you can key into a muscle and relax it deliberately (just like we contract it). It's a trainable skill, the ability to be so engaged that you can focus in on it and let it go.

    • Translated: By facing those fears or triggers, we can build the strength to not let it affect us. Just like we can think about a situation and get mentally and emotionally keyed up, we also can build the ability to BE in a triggered situation and mentally and emotionally master our feelings.

    • What does ignoring it do? Creates trigger point sensitivity - it makes the structure behave differently (hardware). Software - it causes the body to compensate around it by having muscles around it do things they shouldn't, or ones that should, stop working properly. You get more jacked up.

    • What's working through it like? It is highly painful. Go slow. Embrace the worst areas, don't avoid the worst areas. In fact, search for the worst areas, because that is where the biggest global impact will be created, if you find the epicenter of these things and get them to release, you get bodywide instant benefits. You get them to release through repeated trigger point practice.

    • The result? It's totally comfortable to put pressure on what USED to be trigger points. It just feels like a little pressure.

    • End Goal - The goal isn't to have a trigger point free body to say you have a trigger point free body, it's that it ceases to impact how you move through life and how you feel.

HOW do you work them? You hire a professional who shows you tools to do the work. Just like with a trainer. In my real life, I hire the professionals. Coaches for years, and now I'm working with a fantastic therapist because there were a few triggers that I couldn't work through with coaches and self help books.

She's using tools (like EMDR - an interactive psychotherapy technique used to relieve psychological stress) and showing me how to use them myself, so I can break through those trigger points and build the strength to not let them affect me.

My end goal - not to say nothing triggers me….it's just to cease letting those old triggers impact how I move through life and how I feel.
