Brent Hunter joins us on this week's episode. After a 5 year hiatus from competitive running, Brent has taken advantage of the quarantine to get back to fitness and chase some old goals. We discuss motivations and tips for runners looking to return to training.

Zach joins the pod for part to of our Elite Files series! We talk about his transition to the longer distances as well as training specifics and answer questions. Things get a bit out of control when the pod gets split over some potato related controversy.

For the second episode of Beers and Miles: The Elite Files, Larry, Nicole, and Cris interview Zach Ornelas. Zach ran for the University of Michigan where he specialized in the distances, running 5k, 10k and steeplechase. Post college he has made quite a name for himself in the ultra/trail running scene winning two US 50K titles, representing the US 4 times, one in the world mountain running championships, and 3 times in the 50k. And just to add a cherry on top he also qualified for the Olympic trials in the marathon with a 2:17:24.

For the first part of this we discuss his years of running, high school, college, as well as the technology boom and training. Larry somehow finds a way to somehow mention Runescape again.

For the first episode of the Beers and Miles: The Elite files series, Cris and Larry interview an athlete from Cris' old college, Matt Salas. The crew talk to him about his journey into competitive running and the lead up to his junior season of track being cancelled. Matt had just come off qualifying for the D3 National Championships in Cross Country and was looking to make a big splash this outdoor season before his season was cut short due to the COVID-19 crisis. Hear about his journey and what's next for him with some bonus questions asked at the end.
