Today on the podcast I have Julian Cress who is the Executive Producer of ‘The Block’ on 'Channel Nine.' The 18th series starts August 7th - this Sunday night and we have a special preview at what this season will look like!
Julian was an investigative journalist before he made the change to Reality TV and very shortly after a few creative ideas - he and his creative partner came up with the concept for 'The Block' which has become a staple in our homes for nearly two decades.
Very rarely do you hear people knocking back plans on a Sunday night for free to air television but when 'The Block' is dropping a new season - not even a lamb roast or a date with 'Tom Cruise' can stop most Australian families soaking up the action - with room reveals being unmissable each week.
Delivering season after season, you could be forgiven for laughing at 'The Block' coming back each years with a tag line - The Biggest 'Block' in history - but when you think of the ways in which they have kept this show fresh - it is something which is kind of true and I look forward to a future season set in space - which we will probably see if the show keeps up its ratings.
We talk new contestants, this years biggest drama, why they are taking the show regional and cracker of a story - which answers the age old question - how do we stop reading about ourselves on social media.
