This is Superlative: A Podcast about watches, the people behind them, and the worlds that inspire them. This week on the Superlative Podcast, host and aBlogtoWatch Founder Ariel Adams is joined by Marc Frankel, the Founder of Long Island Watch and Islander, the house watch brand of Long Island Watch. To start the show Ariel and Marc reminisce over where they first met, and the early days of both of their companies. Ariel asks Marc to share the journey of how his company got to where it is today, and what his marketing strategy was like in the early days. They dive into what Marc did as a business once competition started to arise, especially marketplaces like Amazon. Marc talks about his relationship with other online marketplaces today and Ariel asks him to give advice on how these platforms can better operate with retailers and brands. The two talk about Long Island Watch as a retail operation, how the business model has changed over the years, and Ariel has Marc go into the dynamics of some of the brand relationships that he has built as the store has grown.
