Context: In light of Jesus' amazing teaching, how could the people not believe and follow Him? There are three reasons in the text:

2. Fear of Man- Instead of fearing and honoring God, they are more afraid of what people will do to them.

3. Glory of Man- Instead of living to please God, they live for the praise of men.

Sermon Title: Lifted up! 

1. The Purpose: Jesus recognized His purpose was to glorify God and do the Lord's will.

2. The Power: The implications of the cross are many. But, here specifically, we see the judgment of the world, the defeat of the devil, and the Gospel being for people of every nation.

3. The Plea: Jesus tells the people to believe in Him and follow Him while they can, for the Lord will not strive with man's sin forever.

Context: After the raising of Lazarus and the feast at his home, the crowds continue to flock to Jesus, and today we will learn from their flocking to Him and His triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

2. The Scheme to Silence: The chief priests scheme to kill Lazarus because his resurrection disproved their theology.

3. The Supposition of the Crowds: The crowds wrongly supposed that Christ was coming as a political leader.

4. The Significance of Christ's coming: Christ came to fulfill the Word of God and God's plan

5. The Sorrow of the Pharisees: The Pharisees are sad because the World is going after Christ. We should strive to see the World go after Him.

2. Valuing Service Above All: Judas' words show us that there are those who wrongly value good deeds and acts of service as the highest calling of man. This is not true!

Sermon Title: Three Responses

Main Idea: How we respond to the Word and Work of God in our lives reveals where our hearts are. In this text, we see three responses to Jesus' work in raising Lazarus from the dead. These three responses are similar to some of the ways we respond to God's working in our life.

1. The Committed- For some unbelievers, the work called them to believe in Christ. For others, such as Mary, it was a call to more fully commit to following Christ. We must commit to follow Him as Lord.

2. The Concerned and Conceited- The Pharisees were concerned about losing their power. They thought they owned the temple and they thought they ran the nation. We must not be more concerned about our pride than God's Will.

3. The Curious- Some people were just curious about whether or not Jesus would show up at the festival. Today, some of us are here more for the drama than the worship.

Conclusion- We need to be committed to following Christ as Lord instead of worrying about our status or drama.

 Main Idea: The people of Lazarus' family loved Jesus, but they misunderstood several things in this text. Their misunderstandings can help us to correct our own. There are 5 here in the text: 

 Misconception #1: Jesus has to work on our timetable or He isn't working at all.  

Misconception #2: Jesus' presence assures a miracle.  

Misconception #3: Assuming that we know exactly what Jesus means without looking at the context.  

Misconception #4: The situation is hopeless.  

Misconception #5: underestimating Christ's power.
