Notorious bank robber and serial prison escapee turned award winning journalist Bernie Matthews died aged 71 in Mid August.

Bernie was a legend and appeared in one of the the ever eps of The Clink and was  great mate and huge supporter of Brent.  

He spent 28 of the past 52 years in nine prisons across New South Wales and Queensland for a host of armed robberies.
